Well, I trust everyone had a peaceful evening.  If you haven’t gone out and bought your turkey (or tofurky, depending on your preferences), I guess you’d better hurry up and get going.  As for me, all the shit that I absolutely had to get done by today has been postponed for a week, which means I can go ahead and procrastinate a bit longer.  Have a good day, and don’t make me get the Taser® out.

So, here we go again.

Looks like Timmy Potatohead just had a look at the election results, as he brings in new Senator-elects John Tester and Jim Webb to Press the Meat.  Then it’s a “special” roundtable with SU Alum Ted Koppel, and Robin Wright (unfortunately, not the Robin Wright from the Princess Bride, but the one from the Washington Post).

Over at Faze the Nation, bush buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts little Lindsey Graham of South Carolina, and Charlie Rangel of NY, to talk about taxes and the failed Occupation of Iraq.

Irrelevant Fux News Sunday and its irrelevant Host, Chris “Fuxface” Wallace will have irrelevant former presidential candidate, John Kerry, and irrelevant former Speaker of the House, Newt “who stole” Gingrich.  Plus we’ll “find out what it takes to be the commander-in-chief’s chef.”

Over on the Goebbel’s network, George Snufalufagus hosts Maverick McCain and his straight talk express on This Weak, and new House Majority Leader, Horny Stoner of MD is in to talk about his “brusing battle” with Nancy Pelosi and John Murtha.   Also, it’s Jimmie Johnson (not the Brylcreem® king and former coach, but apparently some guy that’s really good at driving around in circles really fast), and at the roundtable, it’s George :jerk: Will, Fareed “token” Zakaria and little Robby Reich. Gee, that NASCAR dude is pretty tempting, but I think my boycott remains intact for yet another week.

Over at Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission, we’ll hear from Carl Levin of the Senate Armed Services Committee, batshit crazy Kay Bailey Hutchison of Texas,  Samir “stem cell” Sumaidaie, the Iraqi Ambassador to the United States (good job, as long as you never have to go back to Iraq), two guys who will try to whip it good in the House, James Clyburn (new Majority whip – aka, “big whip”) and his kinky counterpart, Roy “smoke a ” Blunt (soon to be “little whip”).  Also, it’ll be Ken Adelman (who had the pleasure of serving under Donny Rumsfeld, back in the day), David “squeaky” Frum (who is shocked – shocked, I tell you – that the wonderful words he wrote for dubya never amounted to anything), and rightwing schmuck from the rightwing American Enterprise Institute, Michael Rubin.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley goes to India to find out why people are murdering tigers into extinction, Bob Simon has a few cocktails with Joe Namath, and Steve Kroft does a story on Hazelton, PA’s, fight against those goddamn illegal immigrants (in Hazelton?  Who knew?).

And of course there are all new episodes of the Simpsons, Family Guy, and American Dad, plus the Wire.  Have a happy Sunday.

Saturday, and today is the last chance Syracuse has a chance to lose play a football game at home this season – this time, it’s Connecticut. This is the part of college football season that we here in Syracuse have come to call “basketball season.” To make matters worse, the game will actually be on ESPN Regional, so SU will have the opportunity to suck on teevee (though I can’t imagine it being much of a draw, especially since all eyes will no doubt be on the Ohio St. Michigan game, to see if Bo Schembechler’s ghost makes an appearance). Otherwise, not much is going on. Don’t forget, you have another couple of chances to catch Marc at the Punchline in Sacramento tonight, if you’re near the area.

Whoopdie-doo, it’s Friday.  Not much going on here, except a little leftover rain throughout the day.  If you find yourself in California’s capital this weekend, stop by the Punchline to see Marc.  He’ll be doing two shows – 8:30 & 10:30 – tonight and tomorrow.  The rest of us will just have to settle for a little taste on the Sam Seder Show in a few hours.  So, lay low, stay outta trouble, and get this week over with already.  Short week next week, at least.

Well, it’s Thursday again, and it’s supposed to be damn near 70 degrees here today, which is pretty amazing for halfway through November.  Our new Governor was in town yesterday, to reaffirm his campaign commitment to put money into revitalizing Upstate NY.  I certainly hope it happens, and winds up being more than just a big money grab for a bunch of crooked developers.  We’ll see what happens, I guess, but we’ll all be a lot better off when George Pataki is finally, officially, gone.  Oh well, a lot to do today, so I guess I better get on with it.

I was reading Atrios and Kos yesterday, and apparently they’re both in a bit of a snit because some folks have questioned Kos’ placement of a Chevron ad on his site. This has come up before – last time it was over having an ad from a fake grassroots organization opposed to Net Neutrality. Personally, I use FireFox with AdBlock, so I don’t even see the ads they run, but it’s always fun to see them get bummed because they don’t like it when people complain to them about it. They certainly have a right to grub money from anybody that will give it to them, and they can post ads for porn, Ovaltine, or even Wendy freakin’ Friesen for all I care. But, geez, do you have to whine about it when people disagree with you?

Here, we subscribe to the BuzzFlash principle, in that there are no ads. Of course, that may have a lot to do with the fact that nobody actually wants to advertise here, but I’d prefer to think that it’s because we’re ideologically pure. I issue a challenge to some wealthy wingnut out there to offer me a few million bucks to post a banner ad. Just watch how fast I turn you down.

One or the other of them – I think it was Atrios – got himself all buggered up over getting too much crap e-mail a while back, too. I guess everybody under the sun adds him to their conspiracy theory e-mail lists and tells him – dammit – he’s not writing about what they want him to write about. While I can sympathize with that, well, sorry, but that’s the price for being a blogstar. Those regular gigs on the Sam Seder show don’t come for free, you know.

Anyhow, have a happy hump day.

Ah, poor Rummy. Not only is he out on his ass, but he had to cancel his trip to Germany in February to attend the Munich Conference on Security Policy, what with that pesky old war crimes complaint in the German courts against him, and his being currently under investigation by the federal prosecutor’s office in Karlsruhe. Well, maybe he can hang out and drink Schnapps with Henry Kissinger, and reflect upon the irony of being too big of a war criminal to go back to the Fatherland. Ach du liebe Zeit!

Nice to hear that Marc likes Seditionist Radio, but don’t forget that the bits in rotation are all courtesy of the hard work that Patrick and his band of merry elves over at thesnotgreensea have put in collecting the funny, and of course mainly to all the talented writers that contributed to Morning Sedition and The Marc Maron Show.

Another Sunday, and, in spite of everything, the boobleheads are back to pick up right where they left off.

On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead has “two key leaders of the new, closely-divided Senate,” Chipmunk Cheeks McCain, and Joe “the fuck” Lieberman.  You wanna anoint Maverick a leader among losers, fine, but Lieberman? I can’t see that whiny loser leading anyone, anywhere.  Hey, Timmy, the nation votes overwhelmingly for change, and you have two pro-war Republicans on? Buffalo should disown you.

Over on Faze the Nation, Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer has on Harry Reid to gloat, and WH Chief of Staff Josh Bolten to whine.

On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has on Howard :omg: Dean, and Bush consigliere Dan Bartlett, to talk about how the Republicans really won big when they lost control of both Houses of Congress.  And maybe Dean will rip off Wallace’s head and shit down his throat (which is about the only way to get me to watch Fux News).

Over at the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus has Senator MBNA and Senator Carl Levin, and we’ll also get another chance to see Josh Bolten.  Plus, the This Weak axis of drivel is together again, as George :jerk: Will, Sam :omg: Donaldson, and Cokie “the hag” Roberts gather around the Roundtable, to dispense the conventional wisdom we’ve all come to ignore.

On Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission, it’s another visit from Josh Bolten (must be all the other Bush Administration officials are busy updating their resumes this weekend), NY’s Chucky Schumer, PA’s Arlen “not dead yet” Specter, Pakistani PM, Shaukat Aziz, former NATO Supreme Allied Commander, George Joulwan, former SecDef, Bill Cohen, and the NY Times’ Michael “aluminum tubes” Gordon.

Later, on 60 Minutes, the full hour will be devoted to remembering the late Ed Bradley.

On a somewhat happier note, there’ll be new episodes of the Simpsons (where you’ll get to see the world premiere of the Simpson’s Movie trailer), American Dad, and Family, Guy, as well as The Wire, on HBO.  Enjoy your Sunday.

Veteran’s Day Open Thread

Damn, what a dream I had last night. I dreamt that the Democrats crushed the Republicans in the election, and took both the House and the Senate. And Donny Rumsfeld had to resign. And that there’s gonna be a woman as Speaker of the House, and a guy that called Dick Cheney an SOB is gonna be Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee (and get this, he’s a black guy!). And another black guy is gonna be Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee! And Teddy Kennedy is gonna be Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions!

Crazy, huh?

Happy Veteran’s Day to all you Vets out there. And to everybody serving in the military, I hope you’ll be able to come back home and become Veterans soon.
