Monday and back to work. Bleh. I can’t say as I’m very happy to be here. I rather enjoyed being off for a week, and I could use a few more days of vacation to recover from being on vacation. I shouldn’t have stayed up so late last night (we knew we should go to bed, but neither one of us wanted the vacation to end), and am definitely feeling the pain today.

Did you know that NBC is planning on creating a miniseries based on Hillary Clinton (starring Diane Lane, no less)? And that CNN is going to make a documentary about her? Me neither. But apparently the Republicans feel threatened by the idea, as Nazi Party RNC Chair Reince Priebus is telling them they’d goddamn better not do it, or no Primary debates for them.

“If you have not agreed to pull this programming prior to the start of the RNC’s Summer Meeting on August 14, I will seek a binding vote of the RNC stating that the committee will neither partner with you in 2016 primary debates nor sanction primary debates which you sponsor,” Preibus wrote to the networks.

Waaaaaaaaaaaah!

Speaking of movies, apparently Anthony “Carlos Danger” Weiner’s…um…special friend – Sydney Leathers – has made a movie of her own.

The video was released on the website of the adult entertainment company Vivid. Downloads start at $4.95 for a “four day trial membership” to the Vivid site, which also features “celebrity sex tapes” made by Kim Kardashian and Pamela Anderson.

Sounds like a bargain. Somehow I don’t think Republicans are unhappy with the release of that one.

Today is my wife’s birthday. I think she’s 29 this year. I predict that we celebrate by going to sleep early.

Friday

Well, our guests packed up and left early this morning (just when the dogs were starting to get used to them, too), and it’s very, very quiet here this morning. Despite the noise, it was a lot of fun to have everybody here (kinda like summer camp – not that I actually went to summer camp). The little ones spent a lot of time in the pool (even on a couple of days when it was definitely too damn cold for me to go in).

We only had a fire on one night, and even that was tough to get going. With all the rain we’ve had lately, the wood I’d cut and split was pretty damp. After a lot of smoke (which at least kept the bugs away) and with the help of the kids (who were on stick patrol), we managed to finally get a decent one going.

Now I need to catch up on my sleep (and on my chores – the grass is getting pretty long). I did find some time to sit on the tractor and grab some dirt from the woods to fill in a couple of the larger holes the dogs have dug. Not that they won’t dig it all back up again, I’m sure. I also nabbed a fair amount of firewood (finally decided to wise up and cover it), so we should be good to go for the next couple of fires.

And so today is the last day of my vacation (I don’t count weekends), and, sadly, it’s back to work on Monday. Looks like it’ll take me all day just to read through my e-mail, which I’ve been avoiding looking at.

You’d think these people could leave me alone for a week, ferchrissakes.
