{"id":1279,"date":"2009-01-31T07:43:41","date_gmt":"2009-01-31T12:43:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/morningseditionists.com\/msblog\/?p=1279"},"modified":"2009-01-31T10:15:07","modified_gmt":"2009-01-31T15:15:07","slug":"saturday-open-thread-127","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.morningseditionists.com\/msblog2\/2009\/01\/31\/saturday-open-thread-127\/","title":{"rendered":"Saturday Open Thread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>So, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.zwire.com\/site\/news.cfm?newsid=20251148&#038;BRD=1282&#038;PAG=461&#038;dept_id=182121&#038;rfi=6\">yet another reason to be proud of our fine Democratic representatives<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Congressional Democrats stripped from President Barack Obama&#8217;s economic stimulus plan a local lawmaker&#8217;s bid to assure that American high-tech companies would get jobs funded by that plan.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>I don&#8217;t know why we&#8217;d need to create jobs for Americans.  Hell, <a href=\"http:\/\/money.cnn.com\/2009\/01\/30\/news\/economy\/job_loss_roundup\/index.htm?postversion=2009013014\">only 100,000 people lost their jobs last week<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;local lawmaker&#8221; in question is PA Republican Tim Murphy.  I don&#8217;t know anything else about the guy, but I <strong><em>am<\/em><\/strong> rather chagrined to once again find myself agreeing with a Republican. <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em> &#8220;From the iron mines to the manufacturers, to the mills, let&#8217;s use it to buy American,&#8221; the Upper St. Clair Republican said. &#8220;If we really are going to be serious about American jobs, we should require the billions in taxpayer funds go only towards American jobs and to buy products that say &#8216;Made in the U.S.A.'&#8221;<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Sounds good.  Just as good as President Obama&#8217;s and Chris Dodd&#8217;s rhetoric about Wall St. executives getting huge bonuses, <a href=\"http:\/\/openleft.com\/showDiary.do?diaryId=11229\">all while working to block legislation that would allow the government to actually do something about it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Nice to know we can still count on politicians to suck &#8211; no matter which side of the aisle they sit on.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>So, yet another reason to be proud of our fine Democratic representatives.
