{"id":458,"date":"2006-12-21T05:00:35","date_gmt":"2006-12-21T10:00:35","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/morningseditionists.com\/msblog\/?p=458"},"modified":"2006-12-21T05:00:35","modified_gmt":"2006-12-21T10:00:35","slug":"thursday-open-thread-44","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.morningseditionists.com\/msblog2\/2006\/12\/21\/thursday-open-thread-44\/","title":{"rendered":"Thursday Open Thread"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It&#8217;s always uplifting to listen to our president speak, especially when he&#8217;s talking about making sure our military is ready to stay in Iraq forever.\u00a0 I don&#8217;t know where he plans on getting the troops (his stirring oratory aside).\u00a0 There&#8217;s something like 2.1 million Americans in prison, so there must be a couple hundred thousand so desperate to get out that they&#8217;ll take a tour or two in Iraq.<\/p>\n<p>Bush also said the insurgents are making things tough on our military over there.\u00a0 See?\u00a0 And you guys thought he wasn&#8217;t paying attention.\u00a0 He also said, &#8220;Retreat would embolden radicals. It would hurt the credibility of the United States.&#8221;\u00a0 Yeah.\u00a0 Wouldn&#8217;t want that, would we?\u00a0 Not when things are going so well.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m starting to think it&#8217;ll be a real miracle if we make it January 20, 2009.
