I’m sure you’ve all heard the big news by now – the Pope is resigning. He claims to be old and worn out to be continue, but I have my doubts. I mean, popes don’t quit – they croak. Hell, they shot the hell out of the last one, and he didn’t quit. I suspect this has more to do with his role in covering up the whole pedophile thing. That reminds me, I should watch the HBO documentary on that – “Mea Maxima Culpa: Silence in the House of God.” Although I’m not sure I have the stomach for it.<\/p>\n
The big question now, of course, is who gets to be the next pope? I’m not sure why anybody actually cares, though I suppose if they got somebody young in there who was up for not persecuting gay people and giving the OK for birth control, that might stop a lot of the nonsense going on in this country. And let priests get married if they want to (you might attract a better class of people to the job). <\/p>\n
Speaking of priests, why not let women be priests? I mean, it’s your church and you can do what you want, but you might find it’s kinda nice to have some women around (always tends to keep the boys on their best behavior, I find). <\/p>\n
And how’s about opening up the Vatican vaults and feeding some poor people? While you’re at it, order the Bishops here in the US to stay the hell out of politics. <\/p>\n
But I don’t reckon there’s much chance of all that. <\/p>\n
Warm day today – supposed to be in the 40s (I wish I could be in my 40s again). I’d better enjoy it while I can, ‘cuz there’s talk of another nor’easter on the way for next weekend, and I can’t keep count on them missing us up here.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
