I haven’t had a chance to see what’s going on in the news, so I hope y’all are paying attention for me. I forgot what it was like to have to get up and go to work every morning. Kinda sucks. Have a good day, y’all.

Well, here I am in DC. I’m not so good at sleeping in strange places, and I’m not real big on starting new things and meeting new people, so right now I’m pretty beat, and caught between wanting to get this day started already, and jumping back under the covers (or better yet, packing up my shit and heading back to Syracuse). Not much chance of posting anything during the day, I don’t think, but, for anyone who cares, I’ll let y’all known how things went when I get back tonight.

Well, the day I haven’t exactly been looking forward to has finally arrived. I’ll be heading out in about five hours (shooting for an ETD of 10:00 AM), with an estimated time of arrival at about 5:00 this evening (give or take a couple hours for getting lost and whatnot). If all goes well, I’ll be moved into my room and on the Internet before dark. I sure hope the A/C is working – supposed to be 90 in DC today; have I mentioned how much I hate hot weather?

I have last Friday’s Marc Show to listen to yet (that should get me to Binghamton or so), and was able to download a few audiobooks and other shit (including the 1938 season of “The Shadow”), so I shouldn’t have to resort to jeebus radio or NASCAR or anything on the way down.

It’s going to be strange being away from everybody, and all my stuff (my rubber chicken, hanging skeleton, Marvin the Martian coffee mug, Guy Noir bobblehead, plus the wooden ships my dad made). I keep telling myself that this will all go quickly, and be over before I know it (which I’m sure is true, but from this end of things, it sure feels like a long, lonely couple of months ahead). Then again, it’s a great excuse for not having to work around the house all summer, so I’ll have to console myself with that.

Anyhow, I’ll be bringing my camera, and maybe I’ll get some interesting pictures to post. I’m bringing my webcam, too, so if you’re really lucky, you might get to see live video of a dorm room. Not too exciting, unless I find some catholic school girls to party with (we’ll have to keep it a secret from my wife, of course).

Otherwise, y’all enjoy your Memorial Day, and I’ll hope to get back to you later tonight.

Bye.

Let’s see, I didn’t have much time to check the talking heads shows out this week, but here’s a quick rundown. On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead has a pair of Republicans – Chuck Hagel & James “batshit crazy” Sensenbrenner – on to talk about… Jeezus H. Christ, immigration still? Aren’t we over this yet? Then, it’s a pair pf rightwing hacks from the WaPost – asshole David Broder, and douchebag David Ignatius, certifiably batshit crazy Kate O’Beirne, and yet another representative form the WaPost, Eugene Robinson.

Over on Faze the Nation, Bush Buddy Bobby Schieffer has Mitch “the dick” McConnell, Chuck Schumer, and – whoopdie-doo, Elizabeth Bumiller of The New York Times.

On This Weak with George Snufalufagus, it’s John Warner and Jack Murtha, on to talk about the massacre in Haditha and the general state of things in Iraq, plus former representative and current chairman of the “New Century Project” (which sounds more like the early 20th century to me) John Kasich, yet another right-wing hack from the WaPost, E.J. “Grey Poupon” Dionne, and George :jerk: Will. Then, believe it or not, a story on how Tony Orlando’s ‘Yellow Ribbon’ continues to inspire the troops. :barf: (Note to ABC, the song was written by Irwin Levine and L. Russell Brown, and it was about a civil war soldier, a stagecoach and yellow handkerchiefs, not ribbons; they changed it to ribbons when they realized what makes hankies yellow).

On CNN’s Laid Edition, it’s Wolf Blitzer trying to pretend he’s relevant with Iraq’s deputy prime minister, Barham Salih, Timmy the Potatohead Russert (Christ, isn’t once a day with this meathead enough?), Prince Hassan bin Talal of Jordan, and LA Mayor Antonio Villaraigos.

On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has Bill Fucking Frist and Dick Durbin.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Ed Bradley talks to one of the two ex-New York City detectives accused of being Mafia hit men, and Mike “I’m so ashamed of my weaselfaced son” Wallace does a story on soldiers who’ve been severely wounded in combat.

No new Sopranos tonight – but you can catch up on the three latest episodes to get ready for the season finale next week.

Have a good Sunday y’all – it’s my last one at home, for a while.

Ah, Memorial Day weekend is upon us. For those who enjoy watching things go around in a circle, there’s the Indianapolis 500, of course, but the real event of the weekend is the (hopefully) total domination of Central New York in the world of Lacrosse. Not that most (all) of you really give a crap, but Onondaga Community College (one of my alma maters – or at least a place where I picked up a few credits) already won the JUCO National Championship by crushing Suffolk 30 – 6. Tomorrow, Syracuse returns to the final four after a one year absence (it was the first time in 22 years they weren’t in it). Unfortunately, they have to play undefeated and undisputed #1 Virginia, but after a tough start, SU has won nine straight, so here’s hoping they can make it to the national championship game on Monday. On Sunday afternoon, Cortland (a name Twilight Zone fans will no doubt recognize) takes on Salisbury for the Division III championship, after which LeMoyne takes on Dowling (whoever that is) for the Division II championship, and hopefully on Memorial Day, Syracuse can bring home national championship #10 while I’m somewhere in between Syracuse and DC. I wonder if I’ll be able to get that on the radio? Well, I guess I’d better get to packing, and take the dog for our second to last walk. Enjoy your Saturday.

Well, another weekend is almost upon us. And it’s my last weekend of being a bum and not having to get up and go to work every morning – at least for a couple of months. I guess today I’ll try and go out and get some decent clothes, so I don’t look like too much of a bum when I start on Tuesday morning. Siggy did a little too much running around yesterday, so hopefully he won’t mind (too much) if we take a day off today. Have a good Firday.

This week is winding down a lot faster than I’d like. I’ve been kinda busy, and not able to keep up on things, though I did see that Tom DeLay apparently thinks Stephen Colbert is for real (then again, he probably thinks Bill O’Reilly is for real, too), and I guess CNN has discovered the cure for being gay. Or something. As Olivia over at the Huff Post commented: “I would be more interested in a cure for pedophelia, incest, and that right wing obsession with everybody else’s sex life.” Or as MoeLarryandJesus commented, “Yet more Stupid Christian Tricks. Will you fucking idiots get over it already? Sheesh, don’t you morons realize Jesus was gay? After all, he asked 12 men to eat him. I’ll bet there was a big fight over the ‘wishbone.'”

Otherwise, I’m just trying to get ready to leave. It’s kinda tough to prepare for something you’re trying desperately not to think about having to do.

Nice day yesterday (well, the weather’s kind of clold and sucky, but not everwhere in the world can be as warm as Anchorage), and it’s supposed to warm up a little today, which is should be nice. Mostly, I’ll be spending the day continuing to try and get my shit together, and maybe hoping for a Rove indictment when the Grand Jury meets later on.

Got a lot to do over the next few days – buy some clothes, do some laundry, buy a little coffee maker and a “dorm” refrigerator. I ordered a little USB TV tuner/mpeg-2 encoder so I can watch TV on my laptop, and I set up a VPN so I can connect to my home network from the Internet (which will allow me to access all my files, get the e-mail off the mail server I run, and – I hope – download the season finale of the Sporanos on June 4th from my ReplayTV, though it’ll take a while with my asynchronous cable connection; I wish I’d gone for the FiOS, with 2 Mbps upstream).

I checked my freezer and (unlike William Jefferson) since I didn’t find $90 grand in there, I guess I’d better get ready to get ready to get going. Now if I could just figure out that goddamn coffee mug.

I watched Baghdad ER last night on HBO. If you hadn’t heard about it, it’s a documentary about the 86th Combat Support Hospital in Iraq. It wasn’t an easy thing to watch. I have a lot of respect and admiration for everybody involved. Other than that, I can’t think of much to say, to be honest, except to wish Mr. FK a safe trip back to the sandbox, and a safe stay while he’s there. We’ll keep an eye on Blogging Baghdad, and hope to hear his reports on the Marc Show. Godspeed Mike.
