I was really quite touched by dubya’s concern for Darfur yesterday. He’s definitely gonna send “those people” a clear message this time. He just can’t deal with pain and death and suffering – he and Laura suffer terribly when they accidentally see it on the teevee. Poor folks ought to get theirseffs a tivo so they can skip over that kinda stuff.

I was kinda surprised by the whole Cindy Sheehan thing, too. Not that she got tired of the thankless struggle to get us out of Iraq, so much (I’m pretty tired of it, and I’m not actually doing anything; imagine losing your kid and disrupting your entire life, only to be shit on by creeps like Rush Limbaugh, Bill-O, and the freepers), but I wasn’t aware that she’d caught crap from “the blogs” (the “liberal” ones) for calling out the spineless Democrats for their shit. I don’t necessarily agree with everything she said (I suppose I’m a bit of a pragmatist; I can’t see voting for somebody who has no fucking chance whatsoever just to prove a point, if it means the evil of two lessers winds up winning – again), but I certainly respect her for trying to actually do something about what’s going on out there. I don’t really read through “the blogs” all that much, but I never noticed anybody giving her shit for dissing the dems. But, anyway, I hope she can find some peace and happiness in the rest of her life.

So, back to work again today, just when the dog was getting used to having me around again. Usually, the Tuesday after a three-day weekend is even worse than a regular Monday, and this will probably be pretty crappy, since I have to go to some meeting this morning (hopefully it won’t last too long). Oh well, the only way to get it over with is to get it started, so I guess I better get going.

About 3,500 US military have been killed in Iraq, so far. By even conservative estimates, some 70,000 Iraqi civilians have died, with the real number most likely over half a million – just since we were forced to go to war with the army we had, rather than the army we’d liked to have had. One thing that really struck me the other day was dubya saying something to the effect of “yeah, I know it’s gonna be a bloody summer with a lot of casualties.” You could tell from his tone that he just didn’t give a shit. For whatever reason it is that he’s gotten us into this mess, he really just doesn’t give a shit how many people have to die or be crippled for life. Neither does anybody who voted to fund this occupation without a timetable for withdrawal. And they’ll be the ones yammering the loudest today about sacrifice and honor – these despicable bastards who have never sacrificed anything, and are utterly without honor. They all make me sick.

So, anyhow, enjoy your picnics and barbecues or whatever it is you have planned today (for me, it will be washing my underwear, and hanging out with the dog; the closest I’ll be coming to a barbecue is pulling burgers and sausages out of the cat litter box). Back to work tomorrow. Doesn’t that suck?

Ordinarily, Sundays piss me off (especially when it’s not football season), because all I can think about its that I have to go work the next day. Not today, though, since I have tomorrow off. It’ll be the last day off I get until the fourth of July. But anyway….

On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead hosts Bill Richardson (who’s really looking better and better to me as a candidate, though I doubt he’ll win) for the full hour.

At CBS, Bush Buddy Bobby Schieffer has Carl Levin, redneck Jeffy “no the penguin” Sessions, and Kimberly “bull” Dozier.

Over at Fux News Sunday, it’s an all-Republican kinda day for Weaselface Wallace, as he has Mike “Huckleberry” Huckabee, faux moderate Arlen Specter, and the rather disgusting Kay Bailey Hutchison.

On the Goebbels Network, George Snufalufagus hosts U.S. commerce secretary Carlos “don’t call me Alberto” Gutierrez, NJ Senator, Bob Menendez, and some guy named Jim Gilmore, who is apparently one of the forty-seven Republicans running for preseident. Then, at the roundtable, it’s LA Times columnist Ron Brownstein, Donna “it’s people like me that are stopping Al Gore from running again” Brazile, ABC News hack Jake Tapper, and George :jerk: Will. Then we’ll hear from Beth and Michael Belle, whose son, Nicholas, died in Afghanistan on Mother’s Day two years ago at the age of 21.

At CNN, Wolf Bitzer’s Late Emission consists of the always entertaining Charlie Rangel, the ever-closeted Duncan “donuts” Hunter, Senator MBNA Joseph Biden, mouthpiece for the coalition of the willing, Maj. Gen. William Caldwell, Pakistani Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz, and a collection of CNN hacks and professional pontificators.

Later, on 60 Minutes, the hour is devoted to Scott Pelley, who follows around the 1st Battalion of the 133rd Infantry of the Iowa National Guard in Iraq.

No Simpsons, Family Guy, or American Dad tonight. Instead it’s… Fucking NASCAR. Whoo-hoo! There’s also no Sopranos on tonight, but on HBO at nine, it’s the premiere of Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, an adaptation of of the book by Dee Brown, that looks to be very good. I just don’t know if I have the heart to watch it.

Enjoy your Sunday.

So, the new Monica-gate isn’t nearly as salacious as the old one was. Of course, she’s a good, Christian girl, so she’d never give anybody head, I’m sure. Not without a bottle or two of Giacobozzi, anyway. I must say, for somebody with such an important job in the DOJ, she sure sounded like kind of a twit. Can’t be too dumb, though; she was smart enough to get immunity before she testified. Is it Friday yet?

Haven’t had a chance to pay much attention to anything the last few days, but from what I gather, the Democrats caved and AAR sucks. In other words, nothing new going on. I gave up on AAR already anyway, and as for the Democrats, well, I never exactly had great expectations for them. Still, I can’t help but think about what a continued rubber stamp Congress would be doing right now. It may not seem like much, but it’s something.
