Scientists prepare to move Doomsday Clock forward

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The keepers of the “Doomsday Clock” plan to move its hands forward next Wednesday to reflect what they call worsening nuclear and climate threats to the world.

The symbolic clock, maintained by the Bulletin of Atomic Scientists, currently is set at seven minutes to midnight, with midnight marking global catastrophe.

I was sorta liking the idea of going alone (as is usual for me, I guess) because then no one tells me what to do or when to go home or whatever…and if I want to take a walk in the village I can without worrying about someone’s high heels….whatever…
Meantime Ive got this chest cold which is abotu to become a cough and Im terrified because If what happened a year ago with the cough….remember Kat, the inflamed rib thing?…Im still scared of that, it was so bad….
I also put Keith up on RIPcoco…and I have to put up and mail out some times select stuff…

Idaho gov calls for wolf kill

BOISE, Idaho – Idaho’s governor said Thursday he will support public hunts to kill all but 100 of the state’s gray wolves after the federal government strips them of protection under the Endangered Species Act.

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter told The Associated Press that he wants hunters to kill about 550 gray wolves. That would leave about 100 wolves, or 10 packs, according to a population estimate by state wildlife officials.

The 100 surviving wolves would be the minimum before the animals could again be considered endangered.

I hate that kind of timed standup where you cand just see someone sit down and tell you a story….He was cliping from one thing to the next….but he did get it all in…I laughed even at the ones I know the punchline to, and Letterman seemed happy.

What to do for lung pain?…..I took mucinex….any suggestions that will enable me to still drive Will to his drum lesson?

  46. pjsauter says:
    January 13, 2007 at 2:44 pm

    Well, this is great.

The herdsmen had gathered with their animals around large fires at night to ward off mosquitoes. But lit up by the flames, they became latest victims of America’s war on terror.

It was their tragedy to be misidentified in a secret operation by special forces attempting to kill three top al-Qa’ida leaders in south-ern Somalia.

Oxfam yesterday confirmed at least 70 nomads in the Afmadow district near the border with Kenya had been killed. The nomads were bombed at night and during the day while searching for water sources. Meanwhile, the US ambassador to Kenya has acknowledged that the onslaught on Islamist fighters failed to kill any of the three prime targets wanted for their alleged role in the 1998 US embassy bombings in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam.

    Mountains east of El Cajon
    North of the Tecate line.

    Where the California summer sun
Will burn right through your soul
But in the winter you can freeze to death
    In the California snow.

I catch the ones I’m able to
And watch the others slip away
I know some by their faces
And I even know some by name
I guess they think that we’re all
    Movie stars and millionaires
I guess that they still believe
That dreams come true up here.

But I guess the weather’s warmer down in Mexico
And no one ever tells them ‘bout the California snow.

Last winter I found a man and wife
    Just about daybreak
    Layin’ in a frozen ditch
    South of the interstate
I wrapped ‘em both in blankets
    But she’d already died
The next day we sent him back alone
    Across the borderline.

I don’t know where they came from
Or where they planned to go
But we carried her all night long
    Through the California snow.

Sometimes when I’m alone out here
I get to thinkin’ about my life
Maybe I should go to Riverside
And try to fix things with my wife
Or maybe just get in my truck
And drive as far as I can go
Away from all the ghosts that haunt
    The California snow.

    Where the California summer sun
Can burn right to your soul
And in the winter you can freeze to death
    In the California snow.

I am going to head out in a while and I will keep this mantra in mind “No Matter How Hot never expose your chest except to change or shower. AND GOOD CHICKEN SOUP.” I am Berkeley bound so I bet I can find some good chicken soup, maybe snow on the peaks, and probably an exposed chest or two.

This guy Sarge from Mississippi has been on quite a few liberal radio shows lately talking about the lack of reconstruction /and/or funds for reconstruction..

Some needs to explain very nicely that

    1. We live in Banana republic that can’t even qualify for a loan from the world bank

    2. That if Al Gore is right that part of the world will be under 90 feet of water in 50 years.

I am on my way to see my SouthWest LA. pals playing tonight but they want to see the Saints game earlier. (Sorry again fred but the Saints do have some recovery symbolism this year). We will talk about the post-Katrina situation again. It sucks and is sliding out of sight unless people keep it on the agenda..

    Re # 25 — Melina —
If you can make it to the health food store, Oil of Oregano, highest strength you can find in capsules (I think it’s like 325 mg or something like that — follow label directions) capsules — one in the AM & one in PM, should knock down the infection fairly quickly. Oil of Oregano is a fantastic wide spectrum antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal.

Also alfalfa extract tablets — again also one AM one PM — tremendous natural anti-inflammatory which also acts as a decongestant. My holistic chiropractor says it’s because the alfalfa plant had roots which reach deep into the earth to get the minerals that our bodies are missing. Helps alkalize the body. Colds & infections take hold in bodies that are too acidic as most of ours are.

And, as always, LOTS of (preferably steam distilled) WATER!! :40:

Sounds like you have just been running yourself ragged :billcat:& need to slow down & catch your breath :hot:

Yeah, well, since draft day. Hard to take, up my way. The guy’s a bit of a hero up here. Not just because of his play, but because he comes from a good family, gives back to the communities he came from (both in Chicago and her in Syracuse), seems to truly enjoy the game, and doesn’t get arrested for anything. I reckon that aint good enough. Well, maybe he won’t be able to rehab the knee.

Not hate. Despise. Worse than hate (in a “sports” hate, of course). They cheat – still hate them for the game against Syracuse that happened before I was even aware where the refs gave them three shots at fourth down. They always get a bowl game, no matter how much they suck. They get their own TV deal as an independent, and are allowed to join the Big East in hoops, yet not in football. They’re just a marketing scam. And they perpetuate the racist stereotype of the brutish, “fighting” Irish. It’s no better than the Washington Redskins.

  94. pjsauter says:

Never missed a practice, never missed a game, always a decent batting average but for some reason a number of peop[le here just didn’t like him. Personality thing? I don’t know. I’m not a big sports fan so I don’t pay too close attention.

I missed the Comedy Central special but was there for the taping…and he never mentioned the sheep. It was just a silent message. The funny thing was the sheep with the wheels stanidng behind him. The stage hands were pulling it back and forth across the bacl of the stage with a long rop…and at one point one of them put a sign on it that said somehting like “help me!”
It was a good show, but I hope they cut out the fat stuff. I think hes totaly stopped doing that bit…I hope so anyway

You know I plan to be there for the new 24. That other guy can have his stats. You got us.

Okay, the important thing to remember about visits with family is that no matter their intent, in my opinion, there are some memories that only family can burn into the brain. For that there is Jaegermeister. Which comes in bad day at work size, I just saw my Ex size, and Family Self-Esteem size that only works to add onto their beliefs about you anyways.

Sorry about the Eagles. I think they were doomed when I began rooting for them and Jeff Garcia though I don’t like the Dead as much as Franken. Now the Saints are doomed but NOLa needed the shot.

Kristin, looking forward to the 24 and hoping that they do not submerge into a Limpaw lovefest. I am looking forward to your insight.

MEN, Andy aka Aquaman, PJ, I think Kevin and the like….
The truth about football and I became quiet apparent this day.
I made a  I am sorry women but I made the classic “dumb broad” errors this day. All I saw was the colours and dashing about preparing for hubby’s arrival, I “saw” the purple and gold with the royal “fleur de whatever” symbol on helment. That’s it I will say I was busy but it still equals :fustrate::doh:
I BLEW IT:!: “I sounded like a fluff headed chic.”
    One can say I am not into football except to watch at playoffs — sometimes. How STUPID!:fustrate: I HATE (yes, HATE) when I make stupid mistakes like this. I KNOW THE SEA HAWKS are playing (whom I am cheering for — but more a location fan). I like the Bears but vote is for Sea Hawks. Yes This is the NFL not College. Andr Louisiana SAINTS.:fustrate: dumb twit bimbo :doh: My Bad :bow::spank::bow::spank::bow::spank: {Now don’t enjoy that too much:rofl2:.}
:smack:any errors — just chalk it up to the “dumb bitch syndrome”. :slap: 🙄 :smack:
    a.i.v.
