Here we go again.

Press the Meat might actually be interesting, as the potato-headed one hosts dismissed U.S. Attorneys David Iglesias and John McKay, plus Senate Judiciary Committee members, Dick Durbin & Arlen “why don’t you just shut the fuck up already” Specter. And then Bill Bradley is on to hawk his book.

Over on CBS, it’s pretty much the same theme, as bush buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts Pat “why doesn’t Arlen Specter just shut the fuck up already” Leahy, Lindsey “Huckleberry” Graham (both of the Senate Judiciary Committee), shitcanned US Attorney Bud Cummins, and the man who puts the “premium” in the NY Times Select, the ever craptacular David Brooks.

On Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts a show about – you guessed it – the fired US Attorneys, and how our brave president is standing up for truth, justice, and the American way by refusing to allow his minions to testify publicly under oath. Most people think it’s because he knows they’re going to lie, but it’s actually because he’s terrified that they’ll tell the truth. Anyhow Fuxface Wallace only rates one Senate Judiciary member, the accidental Democrat, Dianne Feinstein, but he does score an audience with Senator Brylcreem® himself, Trent Lott. Also on, former DOJ Prosecutor Sharon “Weeb” Eubanks, who was forced to throw the tobacco lawsuit because of Bush political appointee pressure.

On Goebbels, in his first interview since making the announcement that he had no announcement to make (and one of only two senators to vote against revoking the Attorney General’s authority to appoint US Attorneys without Senate approval, it’s crazy wingnut (supposed Iraq War stance or not) Chuck Hagel. And George Snufalufagus reunites the Axis of Drivel at the Roundtable, as Sam :omg: Donaldson, Cokie “the Hag” Roberts, and George :jerk: Will get together to pass the gas that passes for political commentary. Then, Lisa Ling (who, it turns out, is not a Panda bear) is on because Asian chicks are hot.

Over at Crappy News Network, Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission includes Samir “Some Sunny Day” Sumaidaie (Iraqi Ambassador to the U.S.), Judiciary Committee member Orrin “down the” Hatch, Bill Nelson of Florida, John “coo-coo cah choo” Bolton, scumbag Lanny Davis, Mr Victoria Toestink, Joey “big pussy” DiGenova, the woman who helped to engineer a razor-thin popular vote victory of one of the smartest people in politics over one of the dumbest, Donna Brazile, former RNC Chairman, Ed “Justin, please shut that closet door” Gillespie, and CNN bottle-blonde hack, Dana Bash.

Later, on 60 Minutes, if you want to see John and Elizabeth Edwards, you’ll have to suffer through CBS Anchortwit Katie Couric doing the interview. Also, Morley Safer chats with former Tyco CEO Dennis Kozlowski (he may be in prison, but he’ll always have those memories of his wife’s birthday party in Sardinia), and Bob Simon “goes one-on-one” with “reformed” Jihadist, Hassan Butt (hey, with a name like that, who can blame him).

Of course, all this is just to kill time until the season finale of Battlestar Galactica. Two weeks to the return of the Sopranos.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Another week winds to an end. Will the Torturer General go down at the end of today’s news cycle, or will he hang on? My bet, he hangs on. They need to have him around to throw under the bus, in case it starts to look like Rove will have to get his pig face over to Congress and testify under oath. Could be an interesting visit from Maron on Sam’s show today, what with him spilling the beans a bit about a possible change in the nine to noon AAR lineup. I wonder if we’ll hear anything more about that today.

Interesting how the Politico (oh-for-two this week – so far – on “scoops”) is able to get a story totally wrong (yesterday being the “John Edwards is ‘suspending’ his campaign” story) and then spread throughout the traditional media. The folks over there were crappy journalists before the got together on this little venture, so there’s no surprise there, but didn’t there used to be a time when the “media” actually did their own investigating, and didn’t report a story until they actually had a story to report? I blame it all on Watergate. Up ’til then, newspapers and teevee news organizations did their own reporting. But after the WaPost had their “Deep Throat” exclusive source, everybody just started reporting that the “Washington Post is reporting….” Now, every time Drudge pulls something out of his ass, it winds up on AP, in every paper, and on every “news” show in about two hours.

Anyhow, happy Friday.

Supposed to be nice and warm today. Too bad I have so damn much work to do, I’ll probably be spending the whole day in front of the computer. Oh well, at least I’ll be able to stay on top of all the disgraceful Bush administration scandals.

Gee, dubya threw a little bit of a hissy fit last night, didn’t he? You know, if I could ask these assholes questions, I’d ask how come good, god-fearin’ Christians are terrified of swearing an oath – in public – to their God, that they will tell the truth. I mean, lying is a sin (a big one, too – bearing false witness and all that; I don’t claim to be an expert, but I believe that’s one of those commandment thingies they’re always whining about), and they’re all a bunch of fucking holier-than-thou, party of God types, so you’d think they’d be chompin’ at the bit to get out there and rub their greasy palms all over the good book (among other things). Hell, let ’em handle a few snakes and speak in tongues, if it’ll make ’em happy (give ’em some crystal meth and gay hookers, too, for all I care). I guess that’s why they’re always in such a freakin’ hurry to say “b-b-b-b-but Clinton lied under oath.” Yeah, and you assholes know you’re gonna lie, so you refuse. Buncha hypocrites. The only thing worse than a hypocrite and liar is a coward. And you chickenhawk motherfuckers are the biggest bunch of lying hypocrite cowards this country has ever seen. I say, if Rove and Miers refuse to testify in public under oath, hold Bush responsible. Impeach him, convict him, and then throw his ass to the International Criminal Court (just make sure Cheney goes with him).

On the bright side, Al Gore is gonna testify today at a joint hearing of House Energy and Commerce Committee and the House Science and Technology energy and environment subcommittee, and later on, before the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee. Hopefully it’ll all be on C-SPAN. Imagine if President Gore were two years away from ending his second term. What a different world we’d be living in. Peace, prosperity due to major investments in green technology, and people like Ralph Nader sniping at him for not doing enough. Imagine, a President not doing enough good, rather than one doing too much evil.

Have a nice day.

So, lotsa talk, but Gonzo aint Gone-Zo quite yet. Fuck him anyway – I want Rove. And not just to resign to spend more time with his fake family. I want him to go to prison. Of course, if I have him pegged right, he’ll adjust much more quickly than a lot of people might. In other news, we might’ve been screwed out of the NCAA’s, but that didn’t keep us from breaking the 28-yr old NIT attendance record, with over 26,000 watching SU spank San Diego State last night. Hey, what can i tell ya; it’s Syracuse in March. Not like there’s a hell of a lot of other stuff going on. Next up is a trip to Clemson on Wednesday. It might only be the NIT, but winning always beats the hell out of losing. Have a good Tuesday.

As we approach the four year anniversary of the beginning of our glorious triumph known as the invasion and occupation of Iraq (the fourth year is Fruits and Flowers, by the way), it’s time for another round of Sunday boobleheads.

On Press the Meat, it’s the icky Tom Delay (shouldn’t he be in prison with the rest of his friends?) and the even ickier, Richard Perle (who I thought had to stay in his coffin when the sun’s up). Representing the human race, there’s the director of “Win Without War,” Tom Andrews, and PA’s Joe Sestak. And then Chuck Schumer will talk about Alberto Gone-zales (hey, Chuck, big Al isn’t enough; Rove’s gotta go, too).

At the best damn Sunday talking head show, Faze the Nation (it’s the best, because it’s the shortest), SecDef Bob Gates and semi-Democrat Dianne Feinstein will keep bush buddy Bobby Schieffer company.

Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace hosts shitcanned US Attorneys Bud Cummins and David “Julio” Iglesias, plus the tough talkin’ and impotent Sen. Arlen Specter, and John Kerry.

On the Goebbels Network, George Snufalufagus chats with fellow deadhead Pat Leahy, and batshit crazy redneck John “Corn Out” Cornyn. Then it’s National Security Adviser, Stephen “Elmer” Hadley. At the roundtable, it’s Mr. Claire Shipman, Jay Carney, the woman who ran Al Gore’s brilliant 2000 campaign for president, Donna Brazile, Mrs. Jay Carney, Claire Shipman, and George :jerk: Will. Plus, Sam Waterston (what, is everybody from Law and Order running for president now? If so, I’m voting for Munch).

Over at CNN, it’s, oh, hell, who gives a shit? If Wolfie isn’t enough to deter you, they have Carville on, too. Though it’s kinda fun (in a creepy sorta way) to turn the sound down and just look at him. It’s kinda like watching an iguana or something in a terrarium.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Scott Pelley speaks with Staff Sgt. Frank Wuterich, who is charged with killing 18 Iraqi civilians in Haditha (and who looks like he’s about 12 years old), and Anderson Cooper wastes air time on Simon Cowell for some fucking reason.

Have a good one.

If you’re reading this, it means you haven’t had enough to drink yet. Get out there and get busy – it’s already 5 AM, fer chrissakes. Here, we’re trying to find the green line marking the parade route underneath all the snow. Be careful out there – there are a lot of rookie wannabes on the loose, and you don’t wanna get run over by one of ’em.

Ah, tonight’s the night when good boys and girls all over the world will be putting their beer mugs in the freezer, hoping to awake in the morning to find them filled with Guinness or Smithwicks or Harp or Macardle, or something equally yummy. Those who have been bad this year will find their mugs filled with Budweiser.

Speaking of bad boys, our Irish Attorney General, Albert O’Gonzales finds himself more and more alone as one Republican after another tries to throw him under the bus. I just hope they don’t stop with him. This is an abuse of the office of the president, and exactly what the founders meant by “high crimes.” Unfortunately, the government moves at such a snail’s pace, two years is way too short a time to get the bastard out of there (and really, if Cheney isn’t out first, things could get even scarier than they are now).

Time to get the water board out, I think.
