I haven;t had a chance to keep up with all that’s going on the last few days, but I see it didn’t take them long to get to the business of outloawing abortion, now that they knwo they have the Supreme Court locked up. It might take a while, but I guess we’ll see just “settled” Roe v. Wade turns out to be for Alito and Roberts. And then if the asshole Democrats and fake moderate Republicans who voted for cloture dare to say anything about the right to choose, tell ’em you’ve got a right to choose different representatives.
Two more days of hell, and then I can relax a little.

Well, it is 4:12am and now Tuesday morn’ …. and both countries, especially ours, need your bi-citizenship.
I use to be awake until 6-8am when Marc was on. Then I was able to talk to all for a few minutes, but now I am trying to get to bed earlier. I liked doing my work in the middle of the night since it is quiet and no one is around.

Im reading Maro’s blog from last night and I thik this John Stewart thing is blow all out of proportion. Im really sorry that Marc feels so badly about JOnb ecause thats a horrible feeling and you cant just wish it away…its like a sibling rivalry where you still get the twinge no matter how old you get….But I just see them as so different as performers and I think that, money aside, Marc ultimately has so much more wiggle room in what he can do where Jon is sorta stuck behind a desk.
When Jon Stewart played here I got tickets and brough my son to the late show. It was the day of Fitzgerald’s Libby indictment, and Jon hardly used that besides his usual shake of the head and glance up to the heaves. It would have been easy to fall back on that because all of this govt. stuff is such a gift to the comedians…but he talked back and forth with the audience and he bothered the mayor ad his wife who were in the front row. He worked really hard and I hadnt laughed that long in a long time. I laughed for 2 straight hours…and it was just him talking about life.
When we got out, my son was clutching his America book to get it signed and I knew where to go outside…The bouncer said that Jon was really tired and that he wasnt gonna sign….he had done 2 2 hour shows in a row etc…. So we were waiting around a little and a crowd was gathering…and the bouncer came out and called me over and said he was gonna just take Will. So off Will went with his book…time went by…and by…and by…and then in the distance I hear Will jabbering on with his jokes and stand up…and Jon laughing…and they walk out together laughing and jon shakes Will’s hand give me a little wave and gets in the car….And it was the thrill of Will’s life.Maybe he is a jerk to work with or maybe he doesnt take the time to sign for everyone at every show, but I imagine that doing his show 4 days a week and the writing and production involved, and that he has a life complete with toddler and brand new baby, and he does live shows and extra stuff…who knows how much comes off as being a “star” or whatever, and how much is just trying to stay alive. I know that I couldt do it…I dont know how Marc does what he does 5 days a week…but I have alot of tolerance for people who work like that.
Hell, maybe hes mean as hell in general, but he was very nice to my kid when he wasnt seeing anyone at all…he sent the bouncer out to get him. AND I dont think hes a racist or meat that commet in a racist way at all…I thought it was against the academy not the singers. I also dont like these Ho and Pimp songs. Call me a racist or whatever, but Im very involved with some inner city kids here and some of that style and cultural stuff is really a hurdle for alot of them. Its great to embrace culture but you also have to learn how to move around the whole world in all sorts of situations…..
And its much harder for the ho’s than the pimps!! whoever said that is right on! There is no Ho who is doing what shes doing because she likes it…sorry but thats fantasy, and I could definitely make fun of a pimp complaining how hard its gotten to make a living on the backs of a working woman….I should break this up so I move up on the poster list…but…oh well….

Travis- everyone talks to themselves and sings little songs ad stuff…My sister says that part of the reason that she likes having a baby around is that then people dont realize that shes talking to herself in the market…now, we’re a pretty crazy family so maybe we’re not a good example…but around here anymore, everyone has those star trek ear things on and you can be standing next to someone in a store and they are talking and you say, “what?” and it turns out theyre on the phone…it took so long to get used ot the cord. Now that the cords are gone people are walking round talking and singing and whatever with no indication that there is someone on the other line…if you know what I mean!
Just keep an earpiece on and then you wont have to use a baby to cover up your self talk!
I just got one of those bluetooth earpieces and I must say that its fantastic…but I feel funny walking round talking out loud…

There are actually about three times as many seeds as leechers out three, and it downloads very quickly, so if you’re looking for the show, and you haven’t figured out bittorent yet, you should do a google search and learn about it. Air America could be off WLIB in NY after 3/31
The progressive network Air America, heard locally on WLIB (1190 AM), is seeking to deflect reports that WLIB may change formats when its Air America agreement expires at the end of this month.
“It is business as usual at Air America Radio,” said a statement late yesterday. “We will not, nor have we ever discussed, our confidential negotiations with third party companies, investors or others in a public forum. We have no plans of leaving the New York City airwaves and plan to be on in New York for many years to come.”

Bernie Dwyer: I am reminded of a great Irish song called “The West’s Awake” written by Thomas Davis in remembrance of the Fenian Uprising of 1798. It is about the west of Ireland asleep under British rule for hundreds of years and how it awoke from its slumbers and rose up against the oppressor. Could we now begin to hope that the South is awake?
Noam Chomsky: What’s happening is something completely new in the history of the hemisphere. Since the Spanish conquest the countries of Latin America have been pretty much separated from one another and oriented toward the imperial power. There are also very sharp splits between the tiny wealthy elite and the huge suffering population. The elites sent their capital, took their trips, had their second homes, sent their children to study in whatever European country their country was closely connected with. I mean, even their transportation systems were oriented toward the outside for export of resources and so on.
For the first time, they are beginning to integrate and in quite a few different ways. Venezuela and Cuba is one case. . .

Did anyone catch Mike from Manhattan’s call to Peter Werbe. He is usually superb on the issues, in a hip sort of way. Last night, he told a couple of bad jokes, which he had apparently made up.. Peter quickly dismissed him, “Say goodnight, Mike.” Too bad. The caller could be some sort of a special correspondent–if he stays away from the jokes. “Our Man Mike from Manhattan on the issues.”

A Second Look at “Crash”

Last night at the Academy Awards “Crash” took home the Oscar for best picture. The film starring Matt Dillon and Terrence Howard (Hustle and Flow) has been acredited with deconstructing the race issue in America by exposing the human frailties of its multi-racial cast of characters.
Indeed at first glance this collision course of incredible coincidence seems to push the limits by painting a provocative and ground breaking picture of race relations in the city of Los Angeles. However when everything is said and done, “Crash” is nearly as safe a flick as “Gone With The Wind.”
Just as it has been done for years in Hollywood, the roll of the black male in this movie is quickly reduced to that of weakness and ignorance. At every turn, the black man is portrayed as either powerless or out of control (Howard) while the white man gets away with murder, and more specifically in Dillon’s case, saves the day (that is, saves the life of a black women he initially harasses both racially and sexually).
Furthermore Dillon’s cop character is classic American myth! […]

Air America Losing NYC Flagship?
Lefty Air America talker Al Franken may soon be replaced on New York City’s airwaves by firebrand Rev. Al Sharpton, according to reports today suggesting that his network’s Big Apple lease is about to be canceled.
The New York Post’s John Mainelli says that “Air America is close to losing its New York flagship station – knocking Al Franken and his liberal colleagues off the air on their second anniversary.”
Since 2004, when Franken and Co. launched their bid to become the liberal antidote to Rush Limbaugh, Air America has been headquatered at Manhattan’s WLIB.
But Radio blogger Brian Maloney reported over the weekend that WLIB was on the verge of evicting Air America some time soon. Maloney’s credibility is bolstered by the fact that he broke the story last year that the lefty network had obtained a suspicious loan from a New York City Boys & Girls Club. . .

Maloney is obviously manufacturing propaganda using the facts that AAR has recently lost stations in Missoula and Phoenix.

Is Air America Radio about to lose their sinking flagship, New York City’s WLIB? That’s what Brian Maloney says. Apparently Randy Michaels – former Clear Channel exec, owner of Ed Schultz, and the man responsible for Rush Limbaugh – is trying to buy Inner City Broadcasting Corporation, from whom AAR leases WLIB. ICBC might be exercising a clause in the lease that would let them dump Al, Randi, Janeane, and the “gang”.
Since their ratings there weren’t that spectacular, I have trouble seeing how this could be little more than a crippling blow to their pride and credibility. They’ve still got stations in Karnes TX and Crystal Lake IL to fall back on.
What do we make of this? Is there any truth to it? Lots of half-truths and snark, though.

I am seeing that the “media” over the last ten years or so has created a perception of reporting the news but that we just see what they want us to see and only in the light they want us to see it in. They think that by saying green is blue and red is black often enough that it will be true. So if 76% of the citizens want Government sponsored health care the media will say its not possible or if they want George Bush impeached that that is a fantasy. Some how the actual wants of the people have to represented in DC.. The existing system is broken beyond repair.

I just realized that there is a primary here today and I have no idea what its for. They usually have details in the local paper, which I read every day, such as it is, but there has been nothing…..I have to try to figure out who is running and for what…This couldnt be the primary in which Lieberman vs. whats his name is decided…?
I guess Id better go up to the CHURCH (yes I wrote a letter about the church and state issue when they moved it from the firehouse, but there is ot much to do because of a parking issue or something.) and see what and who is involved in this.

pj, i used juice and it freaked out on me, itunes has been the only podcaster that hasn’t eaten shit within 2 months.
Ive used iTunes for a couple of years and Ive ot had a problem with it. I dont like how locked up it is but I got some hacks from the iPod/iTunes book and now I have more control of it.

The Su is a conservative paper …its part of my MOm trying to know the enemy….The web site is a subscriber only affair and apparently on the next page is an article about the guy who wrote the Pants on Fire book about Al and criticizing how Al calls lies what are really mistakes that anyone could make…huh?…so, Im not gonna take any of this seriously…though the other part I might believe a little….and the part I know about the management is what scares me. Of course the repubs want this off the air, but is AAR together enough to fight that?
And where are the big art and hollywood liberals in this? Why arent they financing some additional liberal programming?
Paul- I love that band name. Ive been trying to buy one of their Tshirts for over a year! The only had small sizes and then had large sizes in 50-50 instead of 100%…its such a great name…sorta much better than the band itself;-)
