Randi is always talking about Clear Channel. At least she was when I was listening to her. I only catch her when I am in Portland- The Seattle station moved her out of drive time and well into Cougar games. I gave up.
I heard Mike Malloy’s ad 🙂 so I left.
Clear Channel might own Randi.. She worked for their station in West Palm Beach for like 10 years before AAR was formed. Randi is typical of someone who moved up to a position of importance through the ranks ( which she did) she thinks she is somehow neater than the rest of the people. She doesn’t show in the top 15 of Talkers magazine talk show ratings though.

Druid, what it sounded like even if the show is taped, it could be broadcast by the syndicated stations (and XM) which then can be streamed live from the stations which provide live streams. So the only hope for all those who catch Marc on the stream is to wait for enough stations with streams to get syndicated.
I am still not sold on :jason: premium given the commitment shown to Marc’s show by the AAR higher (fuck) ups.

I thought I heard that the LIVE show would be 10 -12 PST and available for syndication. His station, KTLK, would only run the part of the show that did not cross the Clippers games. Others station would broadcast (and predumably stream) the entire LIVE show.

Druid, the pretaped show will be shipped/provided to all the syndicated stations who will then broadcast the show (dont know the times except that KTLK will do it 10-12 PT on non Flipper days. Flipper days would mean whenever the Flipper shit ends till 12 PT).
I think Marc’s show is short on writers given the tight budget hence we dont have all the characters.
I haven’t listened to last nights’ show yet but I did hear “pretaped” Monday night, but maybe that is for syndication? I would think that they would just start the show live at 10 PST whether the game is on or not and then KTLK would just start Marc’s show “in progress” when the game crap is over with. That way, other stations could carry the whole thing live, or not. That’s why I’m trying so hard to get Marc on the air here in Phx, so we have another stream to choose from.

Okay, so I just listened to last nights show and what I got was “pretaped during the day”, “a full 2 hours” ,”syndicated” and did I also hear “live eventually”? I think so. So, I will miss the live part. I think live is important but it is more important right now to get the show heard. Also, being taped during the day would make it more accessible for interviews and Kent Jones and others from the east coast. It will make it a little easier for Marc to put out the kind of show he wants.

I don’t see a “live” show at 1 AM being a big draw for the East Coast markets. I’m sure they’d prefer to be able to offer the show a bit earlier in the evening, w/o having to delay it for almost a day. It would be difficult, though not impossible to solicit calls, even if the show isn’t live. However, if they can get it on in, say, NY at 10 PM (and stream it to the rest of the world on the Internet), then they could still have callers. On at 10 Eastern, 9 Central, and 7 on the West Coast would great, I think.
Yeah- I wouldn’t listen to Randi at that time but live Maron at 7pm would be fabulous. We could get back to some kind of regular schedule and no CLIPPERS!:fist:

Susan Sarandon just called in to Randi’s show to comment on her interview with John Kerry. She made good points about why Senators gave a blank check to Bush to invade Iraq, rigged elections, politicians with spine, etc. etc. Very nice.
The most interesting thing to me in that video was how Matthews was gossiping about the democrats with Delay. Matthews was more of a weasel in that clip than Delay was.

In a recent give and take email with a liberal, “progressive” Democrat in Vermont, I discovered what Democrats really feel about people who vote for third party candidates, and especially what they feel about Ralph Nader. 2006 is, after all, an election year, and we, the people, must elect Democrats to “take our country back”. No? The talk-show hosts say so, especially Air America Radio, so it must be important. The exact line from the email that I received is,
I feel it is because people voted for Nader who not only have I lost all respect for, but I think he has a huge ego and now I honestly hate him as much as I hate Bush.
There you have it. Liberal, “progressive” Democrats hate Ralph Nader as much as they hate George W. Bush. . .

Goldberg to Give Up Air America CEO Role

NEW YORK
Air America Radio, the liberal talk radio network that features comedian Al Franken, announced late Wednesday that Danny Goldberg is giving up his role as CEO and will be replaced by an executive from a management consulting firm.
Goldberg, a longtime music industry executive, joined Air America as CEO in February of last year. He will remain with the company as vice chairman.

Hmmm. I can honestly say I hate dubya more than I hate Nader (actually, I don’t even hate Nader). But then, while I did finally register as a Democrat so I could vote in primaries, I don’t really feel like a “Democrat.” I generally vote on the Working Families line.
I do, however, think it’s important to get the current bunch of Republicans out of power. I prefer John Conyers as Chariman of the House Judiciary Committee over James Sensenbrenner, or Henry Waxman as Chair of the House Oversight Committee, for example. And I’d take Pat Leahy over Arlen Specter on the Senate Judiciary Committee, too.
But, long term, we need to change the system, and that’s gonna take electing real progressives. Just gotta get the really fucking crazy bastards out of power first, before we’re at eternal war, and the Supreme Court declares it’s legal to embed chips in us at birth.
John Kerry lost to a candidate that had his inept lines supposedly pumped into his ear via a hidden radio device during the “debates”. Way to go John! I am sorry, but I have no sympathy for liberal, “progressive”, Democrats whose candidates do not enthuse and whose ideas are much like their opponent. Ralph Nader was not the problem in the 2000 election. It was Al Gore who won the election and then rolled over and played dead, and the Democratic Party played dead along with him…
I wish they’d kicked Goldberg out (or up, or sidways or whatever) before they killed MS. But then, we wouldn’t be here right now, would we?
Once again, an electoral cycle us upon us and the peace and social justice movements are being co-opted by the diversion called elections. And once again, Democrats will dish out and get more of the same. And, should their candidate(s) not win, they will blame everyone and everything except themselves. We are in this sad state of affairs today because election after election we succumb to the fraud of duopoly politics, i.e., a two party system that will always be the same if we keep playing the same game over and over again. And Democrats are one-half of that problem.

Well, Kerry won the election, too. It’s just that you need to win by more than an uncheatable margin these days.
Also, the preznit is only part of the problem. Perhaps, really, the smallest part of the problem. Without a compliant, enabling, and quite corrupt legislatve branch, the president is fairly limited. Or was, until this one decided – with the backing of his congress – that he could ignore any laws he wanted to, and could issue a “signing statement” for any laws he didn’t feel like following.

Republicans are happier than Democrats, according to the report “Are We Happy Yet?” recently released by the Pew Research Center. Based on a nationally representative, random sample in the United States, 45% of Republicans report being “very happy,” compared with just 30% of Democrats and 19% of Independents.
What is particularly striking about this finding is that it is not simply a reflection of the current political environment. Rather, as the Pew report notes, Republicans have been consistently happier than Democrats throughout the entire period since 1972, when the General Social Survey (GSS) began measuring happiness in the US.

PJ, I love family history stories like that. I’ve even participated in DNA testing as well as a male relative to help research my father’s ancestry. I’m still trying to find out where my ancestors came from. I have guesses, but nothing concrete. Most of them were here in the early 1700’s and the records are harder to find back then.
Apple announced today that it is making available software which will allow an Intel Mac to run the Windows XP operating machine. To dual boot! I being the geek that I am rushed home from work and downloaded the software to my Intel Imac. Of course there is one catch here. You have to own a full version Windows Home or Professional CD with Service Pack 2. So I rushed over to Bestbuy and bought Windows XP Professional (full version). I know I’m cRaZy, but I just had to try this . . . my mouth was watering at the thought of having a Mac that would boot Windows. Well after one scare with my first attempt to install Windows – the keyboard wouldn’t respond – which was a BIG problem since the on-screen instruction was to hit the “ENTER” button. An impossible thing to do with a non-functioning keyboard. I tryed not to PANIC to much :omg: somehow I managed to figure it all out. So now I’ve got a Intel Imac that will boot both OSX and Windows XP Professional. How cool is that? Hot-damn. There remains one problem. I cannot get my wireless connection to the internet to work. They never said it would be easy! So I’m certain I’ll figure it out. And before long I can connect to the internet with IE running on my little Imac. Ok, so I realize that there are more important things going on in the world. We’re fighting for our lives! But I just had to share this with you. Hope Marc’s show is longer tonight . . . later

I worked for Nader presidential campaigns going back to 1996. I saw first-hand (Oregon Seiu, etal.) the sorts of tactics the Democrats can do to maintain the duopoly. I have a (pathological) fear that if we do not break out of this corporate dominated duopoly, our future will include auschwitz or armageddon, or probably both. A slide into hell. Naderat least points a possible way out.
