I should’ve held this post off until six.
If you’re out there in the CA-50th, don’t forget to vote for Francine Busby in the special election today. True to form, the Republicans and their minions in the media are making a big deal about a rather innocous statement from Busby, saying anybody was welcome to come and help out on her campaign. This was twisted into her saying that illegal aliens can vote. As long as there’s somebody to hate out there (whether it’s the bands of marauding mexicans, ruining the sanctity of our elections, or the parades of gays, ruining the sanctity of our marriages), the Republicans will stir up the basest of their base.
Hey, watch out for leaning ladders, black cats, and sidewalk cracks out there today folks. 60 to go.

Morning!
(shhh, it’s really quiet so I’m wondering if the rapture came… for sure my wack-job neighbors will be gone and that would be wonderful news!)
Druid, I saw your answer and thanks. So it is not a derogatory term, right?
Seanie, I want to hear more about this “private” dance with the girl sporting glasses. I sort of understand why she already has two children and I hope a third is not on the way! :billcat:
i really want to hear pat robertson’s take on this: (unless maybe he went “up” today, too!)
My favorite rapture comment came from Bonzo on the old MS blog = “Can I have your car when the Rapture comes?”
I guess if it was in Kiev, it was Jewish God, so that probably doesn’t count.
yep, his god is pretty limited in his geographic (and, hence, ethnic) range these days. I’m sure that’s how he’s rationalized his support of Charles Taylor in Liberia.
my son and i went to the dump yesterday. i was cheered-up by all the recycling our county is doing – more this year than last by the looks of things. going to the dump is cathartic.
Oh, my wife went to the dump yesterday, too.
Mr. Fish
must tell you that I thought of you at the dump with your kitty litter and was wondering if it was going to pile up in your absence!
:joe::joe::joe::omg: Did everyone hear Randi tell the world GW is a weirdo yesterday ?? I think a lot of people are Bisexual.. just some of GW’s base is likely to go ballistic if this is the case..:jason:
This administration sounds more and more like Rome in last days of the empire every day..
Oh.. Good morning everyone..
I don’t think we have a dump we can go to.. Waste Management will haul off your yard trash for a price. The landfill we used to go to when I was a kid is a city park now.. also a natural gas field..
Oh, my wife went to the dump yesterday, too.
Comment by pjsauter โ June 6, 2006 @ 6:40 am
I took a dump yesterday. Does that count?
So anyway, shortly after I posted that stupid-ass comment on yesterday’s thread about today being 6/6/06, I turned on the local news and saw a story about a hospital in Tampa where the maternity patients were asking their doctors to induce labor on them so that their babies would be born yesterday rather than on 6/6/06. Sheesh.
Although to be honest, I’m not religious but I’m probably superstitious enough that if it were MY baby, I would think about it.
So if Bush gets raptured today, Cheney is still in charge, right? Because I know he isn’t going anywhere. (At least not up.)
:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:
Did y’all get a chance to read Stephen Colbert’s commencement speech at Knoxville College?
Oh, by the way, Melina, glad to hear that Will is home and doing better. Have the glue fumes subsided yet? ๐
fred, EVERYONE has to have a dump! Move! Protest! Strike!
so was randi’s rant that 666 (no connection to Druid, but referring to Dubya – and not Ronald Reagan/Raygun,) had a bi-sexual encounter?
===
Yes, Bobby Kennedy responds – I was hoping he would.
Well, we can pay for garbage pickup, but it’s cheaper to bring it yourself. Recyclables are free, and we buy stickers for the bags (any size bag – no matter how much cat shit your wife can pack into it). It’s not really a dump, since we have a garbage burning incinerator.
This is what Randi talked about for about an hour yesterday
Candidate for Governor of Nevada Leola McConnell confirming that GW :barf: and Victor Ash (sp?) current ambassador to Poland were involved in gay/bi acts in 1984.
Coming out because of GW:barf: hypocrisy.

“The Las Vegas woman was paid $15,000 to arrange sexual liaisons involving bisexual men for George W. Bush (then private citizen) and Victor Ashe (then a Tennessee State Senator). These adulterous bisexual affairs (3 encounters in all-3 different cities) took place in the state of Tennessee during the 1984 senate debates between, Al Gore, Jr., Victor Ashe and Ed McAteer. An African-American woman was invited to participate in this adulterous sexual encounter with George W. Bush and Victor Ashe immediately following the Chattanooga senatorial debate. This woman was paid $1,500. A few years later the Las Vegas woman was detained in Washington D.C. with Victor Ashe by the Metro D.C. police. She was released but Victor was taken into custody.”

Randi actually contacted this person and she said she would stand behind her remarks.
The opening headline reminds me of an old joke-
How do you spell “Canada”?
c, eh, n, eh, d, eh!
Well, I’m not surprised about Bush, having seen the video.
Any one see anything in the M$M about RFK’s article in Rolling Stone ??.. With the inattention to the news in general it probably wouldn’t make any difference but if they are going to be totally Reich wing in their reporting the left has to think up some consequences for them to experience.. I have a feeling the fall elections are going to be reported in a way that makes the dems look bad no matter what they have to say.
so is a bi-sexual “event” in ’84 an impeachable offense? AND now the Jeff Guckert prolific vistation schedule at the white house makes perfect sense.
oh please oh please oh please … or should it be please eh please eh please eh…
I think Rhodes just hates Bush.. she always blames him for all the nations ills.. Rethugs run the state governments in like 29 states and they all have almost identical problems.. Like I said yesterday why is it that elected officials are allowed to do things that would put Joe citizen in the big house and get away with it in the name of politics. ??:jason::gate::omg:
FK-
It’s NOT impeachable, and the only people who’d really care about it are his base! mua ha ha ha (diabo;ical laughter).
If the intent is to show that Rethugs are hypocrites that seems to have been done fifty times over. The things these people are doing are criminal.. The system apparently was never designed with the thought that the “well informed” voter would elect the mafia to run the country.
Not the well-informed voters. If the Konservative Kristians can be so turned off to the hypocrites, maybe they’ll be less likely to make phone calls and get out to the polls to vote. But you really have to beat these people over the head to get them to pay attention.
good morning, happy Satanic Bush-was-born with the markings of the beast on his scalp, all-you-have-to-do-is-look day! :alc:

Conn. City Leaders OK Riverfront Evictions
By STEPHEN SINGER, Associated Press Writer
2 hours ago
NEW LONDON, Conn. – City officials voted to evict two homeowners at the center of an eminent domain battle who refuse to leave their riverfront homes, even after the U.S. Supreme Court’s landmark ruling that the city can seize the property for a private development project.
The City Council voted 5-2 in favor of eviction Monday. An attorney for the residents said they are considering continuing to fight.
“You are a disgrace to the city, the state and the nation,” one of the residents, Michael Cristofaro, told council members who voted to evict.
The city has been trying for a decade to redevelop the once-vibrant neighborhood at the point where the Thames River joins the sea. Seven homeowners challenged the city’s plans to seize the property and build a hotel, convention center and upscale condominiums, saying eminent domain can’t be used to make way for private development.
But the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 last year to uphold the city’s right to take the homes, saying municipalities have broad power to do so in favor of private development to generate tax revenue.
They tried to paint Eminent Domain as a “liberal” thing last year (meaning liberals support it), but it’s pretty obvious that it transcends political labels and is just a people issue. I don’t know anyone who owns property that agrees with the Supreme Court ruling.
I am too tired to blog right now.:priest:

PJ needs to keep looking for Rod Sterling standing in a fog bank under that street light.
The pentagram pointed up is not Satanic, it’s actually a spiritual symbol more associated now with Earth religions like Wicca (and traditionally from Hindu and other cultures)…it’s the reversed one that has that Satanic connotation (sometimes)
I’m sure the Republicans would not want to be associated with Earth religions either, though :omg:

More Chinese steam coming to the U.S.
PITTSBURGH โ Mainline steam in China is finished, but two Chinese locomotives will have a second life in U.S. in 2006, with three more possibly coming later. Railroad Development Corp. of Pittsburgh said Friday it has acquired a pair of Chinese class QJ 2-10-2 locomotives, including No. 7081, which had the distinction of hauling the worldโs last regularly scheduled mainline steam passenger train. The other is No. 6988. RDC (www.rrdc.com) is a privately held railway management and investment company which owns or has financial interests in rail properties in the U.S. and six other countries in Latin America, Africa, and Europe, including the Iowa Interstate Railroad linking Chicago, Des Moines, and Omaha.
According to RDC Chairman Henry Posner III, the two locomotives were overhauled in China by the Jinzhou 701 Works to meet U.S. Federal Railroad Administration standards, under the supervision of steam consultant Dennis Daugherty and under contract with U.S. company Multipower International. They were being shipped through the Chinese port of Dalian, and upon arrival in the U.S. will be shipped to the Iowa Interstate on special eight-axle flatcars. Once in Iowa, the pair will be fired up and operated once, to demonstrate that they are FRA compliant and operate properly. Posner says the locomotives will probably be tested in regular freight service on the Iowa Interstate.
Why bring Chinese steam to the U.S.? โItโs a test of the market, without any preconceived notions,โ Posner said. โI didnโt see anyone else putting their hands up to buy these engines in the last year.โ Ideally, there would be a market to resell the engines to regional or tourist railroads. Absent that, other methods of generating revenue would be examined, such as serious photo charters or renting them out. If there is a market for the locomotives, RDC has an option to buy three more QJs.
The QJ (a derivation of the Soviet LV class) was the last Chinese steam design to go into production and was the most numerous steam class to run in China. The first prototypes were introduced in 1956. Eventually more than 4,700 QJs were built, the majority between 1964 and 1988. The Datong Locomotive Works built No. 7081 in 1986, while No. 6988 was built in 1985. Two Chinese-built steam locomotives, both 2-8-2s built in 1988, currently operate in the U.S., hauling tourists. A class JS runs on Iowaโs Boone & Scenic Valley, and a class SY, built for Connecticutโs Valley Railroad, was sold to the New York, Susquehanna & Western, which transferred the engine to the NYS&W Historical Society, which operates it on the Bel-Del line at Phillipsburg, N.J. A third 1988 Chinese 2-8-2, also class SY, is in storage in Pennsylvania, having worked on the now-embargoed Knox & Kane tourist line to Kinzua

The Chinese have like 5000 more or less recent steam locomotives that they are currently phasing out in favor of electric locomotives.. You never know if might be a return to the future.

Are they so sure they have the election rigged and the “Good Americans” buffaloed that they don’t have to do anything to get reelected.
Do they know something about the plans for the future that we know nothing of ??
Do they have villas in China or the Caribbean already under construction so they can move on a moments notice ??

more from the road to maronland!
When I got to El Paso I went into the truck stop and got myself a much needed shower after he shower I was reinvigorated and caught myself a ride to Juarez Mexico with a couple of other drivers courtesy of Aztec tours. Our driver drove us into Mexico where he proceeded to careen through the streets rather recklessly like he was driving in a NASCAR race. For some reason the mans driving didnโt bother me. We arrived safely at a Mexican bar where I paid 20 dollars for unlimited drinks. I got a seat by the stage where the most beautiful woman in Mexico was dancing. I sat there in awe watching her move to the music. One of the bargirls came and sat down with me. I asked her if she would like a cigarette she said yes so I pulled one out of the pack and gave her a light. She was a rather pretty girl in her mid 20โs with a pair of glasses that didnโt seem to fit her face right. Luckily she spoke English so we were able to have a decent conversation. She said she was 24 and had two children and had been working at the bar for four years. She was blowing smoke rings with her cigarette I asked her to show me how. She showed me and I started trying I still cant do it right but every once in a while I can get a few out. I kept trying to get her to dance on the stage but she insisted that she only dances in private and that she would love to show me eventually after having more than enough to drink I obliged and we went to a private room where she showed me her โdanceโ. It was shall we say interesting! We went back into the bar where the beautiful woman was dancing once again. They played a Mexican remix of 50 centโs in da club I tried finding out the name of the person doing the remix but nobody seemed to know? A little later me and the other drivers left the club most were wishing they could stay forever I however had big plans for the weekend! Maron on Friday night at the U.C.B. I went to sleep anxiously awaiting my arrival in Los Angeles.

I know there are a lot of Castro and Chavez fans on DU. After all, they’ve both done good to help the poor people in their country, even if it came at certain expenses and the relinquishment of certain liberties.
So I wonder if most DUers would support that style of candidate for the United States presidency. Someone who will nationalize industries and redistribute private property.

2) the television should be abuzz 24/7 with outraged pundits and disgusted plainfolk who think he is is amoral and evil

The Air Force is accepting delivery of production B-2s in three configuration blocks–blocks 10, 20, and 30. Initial delivery will be 6 test aircraft, 10 aircraft in the block 10 configuration, 3 in the block 20 configuration, and 2 in the block 30 configuration.
Block 10 configured aircraft provide limited combat capability with no capability to launch conventional guided weapons. The Block 10 model carries only Mk-84 2,000-pound conventional bombs or gravity nuclear weapons. B-2s in this configuration are located at Whiteman Air Force Base and are used primarily for training.
Block 20 configured aircraft have an interim capability to launch nuclear and conventional munitions, including the GAM guided munition. The Block 20 has been tested with the Mk-84, 2,000-pound, general-purpose bombs and the CBU-87/B Combined Effects Munition cluster bombs (low-altitude, full-bay release).
Block 30 configured aircraft are fully capable and meet the essential employment capabilities defined by the Air Force. The first fully configured Block 30 aircraft, AV-20 Spirit of PENNSYLVANIA, was delivered to the Air Force on 07 August 1997. Compared to the Block 20, the Block 30s have almost double the radar modes along with enhanced terrain-following capability and the ability to deliver additional weapons, including the Joint Direct Attack Munition and the Joint Stand Off Weapon. Other features include incorporation of configuration changes needed to make B-2s conform to the approved radar signature; replacement of the aft decks; installation of remaining defensive avionics functions; and installation of a contrail management system.

Exorcism
Exorcism is (1) the act of driving out, or warding off, demons, or evil spirits, from persons, places, or things, which are believed to be possessed or infested by them, or are liable to become victims or instruments of their malice; (2) the means employed for this purpose, especially the solemn and authoritative adjuration of the demon, in the name of God, or any of the higher power in which he is subject.

Asafoetida is a reddish-brown resin taken from the roots of a Middle Eastern plant. Asa is a Latinized form of Farsi asa (a resin) and Latin foedidus means stinking or fetid. The Latin named ferula means carrier or vehicle.
In the Middle East it is used as medicine, condiment and food. In magick, the fetid odor when burned is said to dispel evil spirits and negativity. Bหnpo shamans of the Himalayas used the herb for exorcisms. In Tibet it is mixed with valerian, calamus, peacock feathers, snakeskin, and cat dung to produce an incense for banishing spirits. Ritually it is used to banish curses, hexes, crossed conditions, or unwanted manifestations. The smell is pleasant (to put it mildly), so make sure there is plenty of ventilation when it is burned. This resin is for the “big time” banishings and protection. When you want to get rid of anything, including a person, open the windows wide and burn asafoetida. As Ana Riva wrote in her “Modern Herbal Spellbook”, it will “force people to leave you alone”. Asafoetida, when carried in a white bag, is worn around the neck as an amulet against colds and fevers. In the West Indies, the resin is combined with bones, ashes, graveyard dirt and nail pairings and hung around the neck as a protectant. (Some use mullein as a substitution for graveyard dirt). One tale tells that Asafoetida grew from the semen of a fertility god. Paul Beyerl wrote that asafoetida is used to gain insight and to add power to any ritual. According to Christian Ratsch, author of “The Dictionary of Sacred and Magickal Plants”, Asafoetida has been taken for psychic ailments, particularly those caused by sexual balances, and was considered an aphrodisiac. Mothers hung small bundles of asafoetida around the necks of their children in order to protect their health, and bags of the herb, worn at the waist, will keep away the police. Asafoetida was used to heal mental disorders. The herb is used in Hoodoo rootwork for reversing โtricksโ laid against you (curses). The herb grows wild from
Good questions on the race in the 50th, Franken. How do the Republicans resolve this?
You got me scared!:omg:
yeah, we all are possessed, the trick is not to be in denial about it…then you can order that beast around and make it do your will ๐
The question is: will the fucking Republicans in California’s 50th District be able to hold on to the seat vacated when Cunningham went to prison?
I am battling demoms. I use tools derived from the famous exorcist S. Freud. But I am open to other strategies.
Hmm, I didn’t know that, FK. I’ll have to be more careful about what organic foods I buy.
Angelides is a good liberal, too.
I just noticed something I have to fix in my book: the smell of asafoetida is UNpleasant, not pleasant as says in what I just sent. I’ll have to fix that. Asafoetida smells worse than shit, to be honest, but I guess that’s how it got its association with chasing demons away, it chases EVERY thing away…
Devils are driven away by the smell of shit? Appropriately enough.:rofl2:
i think it was isi that said horizon’s organic milk is not from cows on pasture. Organic Valley, however, is.
unpleasant-smelling herbs are usually associated with exorcism and banishing. The one exception is the rose, which smells lovely, but is the herb that can do it all, supposedly. There are a few others like the rose that defy the doctrine of signature correspondences.
Yeah! Make the billionaires pay their fair share. Exorcise the demonic spirit that Reagan cast on our body politic. Better yet, make it so that billionairs cannot exist in our system.

alright. I’ll stop being so intellectual
I think we need more than herbs to clean that system up… ๐ก
O’Donnell is telling us about the new beasts in our corrupted system.
The new billionaires did it without government help? Who subsidized the cyber technology for decades before it was popular.
O’Donnel is a fucking yo-yo!

So, the rose can go “both” ways? Multiple useS
well it’s an enigmatic flower…every rose has its thorn ๐
Yeah! Definite steps to stop this scam. If so many billionaires are being created, why is our economy so lame? Why is there a general taxation crisis?
Well lets see herbs make nitrogen in the soil.. take enough soil and maybe you can make some TriNitroToluene.. Either that or we could get them all stoned.
I do think there are plants that make their own nitrogen, those that are in leeched soils (like Pine Barrens).
AlpenRose Dairy. They talk like their cows are contented.
more talk of social security privitzation? I thought we done bury that one… maybe not though??? ๐ฎ
Alpenrose Dairy is a dairy company located in southwest Portland, Oregon since 1916. It has been in the Cadonau family for several generations and was named after the alpine rose (Rosa pendulina) by the Swiss-born wife and early co-owner of the dairy.
nice name for a company…
O’Donnell talks like the 1990s-era billionaires got there largely through their entrepeneurial skill. No help from the government. They just need to be taxed more. Why did the system allow the situation to get out of hand in the first place?
We wonder why mid-town Manhattan (and elsewhere) is prohibitively expensive, the answer can be found if one looks at how the “new economy.”
Life out of balance.
Social Security privatization is another wedge issue, like flag burning.
I don’t believe they got there with no help at all. Even people I know who are wealthy and are not billionaires will freely admit that policies, incentives etc. help them out. There are probably things that help the Ubber Rich that I don’t even know about.
yeah, but I really thought they’d given up on the privatization thing. I guess reading Josh Marshall and so on for so long lead me to believe that.
Look at how our system of military keynesianism works for your answer. Taxpayers pay for the R&D, then when and if the technology becomes profitable, it is given to business, free of charge. Computers are but one example. The Pentagon System.
Organic Valley may not be perfect but it sounds like the chances of getting milk from pasture cows is greater with OV than with Horizon.
that is a good name for a Dairy. My brother only buys raw milk from a local dairy in Pennsylvania. From his research, he says people who are lactose intolerance have no problem with raw milk.
AltaDena in CA used to sell it but an illness hit someone so they were forced to stop, I believe. Pasturization DOES kill the bad cooties, but it also kills the good things as well. At any rate, aren’t we the only species that eats other species’ milk? ๐ฎ

thanks for info, Isi…Pasturization actually bad for lactose-intolerant people? I’m mildly intolerant, I think, which is why I rarely drink milk.
They will keep SS Privatization on the back burner until such a time that it can be passed. Probably under a Democratic adminiatration. The next Clinton will pass historic legislation on social security. Remember what Bill Clinton did with welfare?
yes, I actually do remember how he “revised” ::cough:: welfare…
I am big time lactose intolerant.
You are not in the right racket for handouts. You must wait for the crumbs that usually come with a price.
I don’t think people are meant to drink cow’s milk…I can do without milk, I have a harder time doing without cheese…:(
then how do you eat peanut butter and jelly sandwiches?

Lactose Intolerance
by Magdalena Michalak
[…]
What does this have to do with lactose intolerance? It’s precisely that stripping of nutrients which causes almost all lactose intolerance (as opposed to a true lactose allergy, which is a subject for another paper) since this intolerance is caused by a lack of the enzyme lactase in large enough quantities within the human digestive system to break down lactose, a fairly complex disaccharide found in milk. Raw milk contains harmless bacteria which produce lactase which, in turn, enables the human body to break down and absorb lactose. Pasteurized milk has had all of these bacteria killed off and is therefore lactase-free, but still contains lactose, causing problems for many people who try to drink it.
Why should this be a concern in the US in particular? Clearly other countries pasteurize milk, as well, but the type of pasteurization (4) process used varies widely from country to country, with both temperatures and exposure times subject to individual government regulations. In the majority of the world, raw milk products are not illegal (in the US, selling domestic raw milk products is legal in 28 central states but not widespread by any means because of store regulations which essentially make it impossible) and the pasteurization process permits many more microorganisms to remain in the milk. A good test for this, for example, is the sour milk test. Milk which has had beneficial bacteria killed off will, if left out in the open, spoil/decompose; bacteria flourish and the milk takes on a putrid odour. Milk which has only been gently pasteurized will instead sour; its consistency will thicken as bacteria produce more acids, and yeasts in the milk will turn it into first sour milk (a beverage which sounds unpalatable to Americans but is delicious, healthy, refreshing, and a wonderful digestive aide to a heavy meal), then sour cream. Most countries aside from the US, England, and Italy do not pasteurize their milk to the point of killing off these beneficial microorganisms.
[…]
I don’t technically have “lactose intollerance” (or so my doctor told me), but I do have another digestive issue which leads me to have similar symptoms. Either way, I can’t really digest dairy.
I have to go and tutor, damn. I’ll be back tonight (work until 8) though . Peace out sheeple :jesus:
that is, work until 8. I don’t know how that sneaky face got in there…
seanie, how’d you sneak in there?
but if we pasteurize the hell out the milk, BIG PHARMA can sell LactAid and, VOILA! another profit source.
Corporations control everything, Randi. Republicans seemingly do their will better. But Republican policies causes big crises in the country.
Stop your demo apologetic rant, Randi! What’s this about finding a safe place for Jews to live? Where? Who got driven out to make the place safe for Jews?

Bipartisan War Profiteers
“Selling the Country to the Highest Bidder!”
By WILLIAM HUGHES
On Sunday afternoon, June 4, 2006, a Forum, which dealt with the topic of “Iraq, Iran and Militarism,” was held at the Cork Gallery in Baltimore. It is located near the historic Greenmount Cemetery. (1) The event was sponsored by the “Generations for Peace and Democracy,” a progressive group. The speaker at the affair was the popular anti-war activist, Kevin Zeese.
Zeese said, “We know that both parties are selling the country to the highest bidder. So, in a historical context, where do you want to be? Republicans controlled by corporations? Democrats controlled by corporations? Or, with some independent movement that is going to challenge the lack of representation of the people. I think in a historical context, we know where we want to be…What we do now will have an effect. We make a difference. So, waking people up to make a difference is very important to moving things forward electorally.”
Zeese is the director of DemocracyRisingUS., an organization working to end the Iraqi War and the Occupation. He served as the press secretary for Ralph Nader in 2004. Presently, he is an independent candidate for the U.S. Senate in Maryland, who is looking to bring together, in a unity campaign, the combined electoral efforts of the Green, Populist and Libertarian Parties, along with disenchanted members of the state’s Democratic and Republican organizations. According to this morning’s Baltimore Sun, “15.3 percent of the state’s 3 million registered voters were either unaffiliated with a political party or enrolled in a minor party. That’s up from 13.4 percent of 2.7 million voters in 2000.” (2)
Zeese underscored in his over hour long address that, “we’ve got to break the two party straight jacket, so people can vote for what they believe in and make their own choice. The two parties treat all of us as children, as lazy morons, who are stuck watching too much TV…So, many voters feel trapped.” […]
I  The Ramones; hate their rightwing politics.
Interesting note, when visiting my grandparents as a child, we would hear stories about how you should not drink raw milk because you might get lockjaw. I just looked up lockjaw and it sounds like it is another word for tetanus. So, I guess if you get your tetanus shot you might be okay drinking raw milk. ๐
yeah what the fuck is with the ramones being right wingers?
The general election, in Maryland, is set for Nov. 7, 2006. Zeese has labeled the two opposition parties as “corporate dominated.” He has written that if there was ever a moment for Marylanders “to get organized” and to “throw the bums out,” it’s right now. (3) The Baltimore Sun also wrote that Zeese is “addressing issues that major parties won’t, such as challenging U.S. policy in Israel and a tax-reform plan that would exempt an individual’s first $100,000 in income from taxation.”(2)
Continuing with his remarks, Zeese said: “I’m the only person in the U.S. Senate race in Maryland, other than [candidate] Bob Kaufman, who’s opposed [to the U.S.] bombing Iran. And a lot of that again is Hard Right Israeli Lobby pressure. Richard Cohen, who writes for the Washington Post, said that 65 percent of the Democratic Party’s resources comes from the Hard Right Israeli Lobby and 35 percent of the Republican Party’s resources come from the same [place].”
Look it up! Who loved Adolph Reagan?
Pardon Hinckley!
Sam Seder cracks me up. He has Part 2 of his
Closet-Blogging
He talks about one of the 31 sponsors of The Federal Marriage Amendment as being gay and married.
; Vega recalled how Johnny
In addition to his financial conservatism, the guitarist was politically conservative – the late Ronald Reagan was Ramone’s favorite president, Vega said.
:omg:
My understanding was that Johnny was really the only right-wing Ramone, at least of the main three.
Joey was more left-leaning. He did have a thing for Maria Bartiromo in his later years, but hell, so do I.
Not sure about Dee Dee. I think he was more interested in scoring than in politics anyway.
:bong:
(I’m using the bong emoticon because we don’t have a needle.)
I remember that Prince came out strongly in favor of Reagan around the time Controversy came out. Never did figure out what the hell was up with that.

Not Such A Light Unto The Nations
by Michael Lerner; Haโaretz ; June 01, 2006
A.B. Yehoshua is still fighting the good old Zionist fight of the 20th century to convince world Jewry that they really ought to be living in Israel in order to have an authentically Jewish life. However, the challenge posed to world Jewry in the 21st century is a dramatically different one, and it is one which neither Yehoshua nor many of his critics are ready for.
Whether you approach an understanding of life from an economic, political, technological or ecological point of view, the central truth of the 21st century is that we live in an increasingly interconnected world. And whether it is looking at the possibility of nuclear proliferation and war, or an impending environmental catastrophe, more people are coming to understand the central moral insight of our time: that our well-being, as individuals, families, religious communities and nations depends on the well-being of the entire world, and on the well-being of the planet itself.
So there is no “individual solution” for you or me as people, and there is no “national solution” for Israel or the Jewish people that doesn’t depend on providing for the economic, cultural, political and spiritual fulfillment of everyone else.
This is the central survival issue facing humanity today, and it makes the old 19th century nationalism and the 20th century struggles about Jewish identity seem like relics of an ancient past.
The central question for the Jewish people is this: Do we have anything of value to contribute to the human race either from the standpoint of our nationhood such as it is constituted in the State of Israel or from the perspective of our religious and spiritual heritage?
And of course the answer is an old Jewish one: “yes and no.”
:doh::omg:
isi, sounds like the propaganda bit your grandparents early. The only milk I ever remember liking as a child (hate that stuff) was in Muskogee, OK my mom would get Jersey cow milk from a local farmer and she kept it in a milk dispenser like those found at a soda fountain and it was so cold and sweet. Never liked any milk before that or after that.
btw, I, too, love Sam In The Closet.

I didn’t hear it but Rhodes went ballistic early on on her show today.. She had just come from taping the show with Dobbs so that might be worth viewing this evening.
Palast says that Iran is a smoke screen so we can go after Chavez. I think the Russians/Chinese are sending an expeditionary force to Venezuela though. GW :barf: may find his ambitions thwarted at every move heheheh.
Shit. Deadwood starts Sunday night, and I won’t be able to watch it.
Hartman is going to be doing the Majority Report tonight
Is this Deadwood a new Deadwood or a rerun of the rerun of the movie ?? I went to Deadwood once.. then we went to Lead the tour of the real gold Mine was pretty exciting.. I guess they have Gambling in deadwood now so its not so Dead.

Actually, anyone who wants to catch Randi on Dobbs should do so tonight, as it will be THE LAST TIME SHE EVER DOES THAT SHOW or at least until she gets over whatever the hell happened today. She wasn’t very specific, sort of a general overdose of fed-up-edness. :jason::jason::jason:
Well Rhodes apparently was giving the Denver audience the impression she was Psychotic.. or at least 4 out of 5 people who called into Marvin’s show this morning thought she had gone off the deep end.. I usually only listen to the last hour of her show after I get home from work.. I sometimes listen to the Web stream of Shultz during the afternoon. Rhodes ranting was driving the lady on the other side of the cubicle wall up the wall. She would come over and turn off my speakers if I wasn’t there.
Well, I guess since 6/6/6 wasn’t eventful, um, 12/21/12 may be the end times:priest:! Who has their Mayan calendar handy?

Apparently the senate will vote tomorrow. I get the impression from blogactive.com and Sam Seder that a gay, married republican co-sponsor of this legislation may be outed once he votes for the FMA.

there are no new comments on my blog?
Re: the Ramones. (Nicki, Kevin, etc) I also read that Johnny was the conservative one. Joey was the most liberal. They “had it out” after Joey penned “Bonzo goes to Bitburg,” which was an attack on Ronald Reagan, who Johnny admired. Much of the music of the Ramones was apolitical though, or just barely political, so most of the songs did not involve conflict. I don’t know about DeeDee either…

OK, well, I just watched Ann Coulter, and now I feel all dirty and nauseated. Why does somebody with zero credibility get a forum like that to spew lies and hatred?
Fidrakis works with Harvey Wasserman. No conspiracy theorist he.
I’m now convinced she just says things that will shock as many people as possible. It’s not even about her “fans.” It’s just all the people who will go “oh my god!” and watch for that reason. It’s like people who slow down on the road to see a car accident. That’s why she gets a forum in MSM. The mainstream media was always about shock. The fact that she’s also “conservative” helps her in that regard, too…
Anybody that makes Matt Lauer look good is definitely icky.
AC is a rightwing attack dog.
Please don’t compare that thing to a dog.
I know…I like animals, they’re nice… there’s not a word in the English language to call her, actually…
There is, but its use is frowned upon in polite (and even not so polite) circles.
hehe, I say that word all the time, but ya know, I’m not polite society… :omg:
OH Tyger Thom. You are such a good demo. Just what we need, more apologists for the democrats.
Its an incredible clip because she is such a wingnut that its a joke that they put her on what is supposed to be a fluff “news” show….I know that her books sell, but so do the left behind and L Ron Hubbard books and they arent giving them a platform to spread what is viewed as fringy crap…is it that they dont realize how over the edge she has become?
I wonder how many people complained from that spew…
And Matt Lauer is not so bad really…hes a long itme New Yorker who was always on the local news here and then was the local news reader on Today for years before they bumped him up when Bryant left….
I think that hes a liberal and hes really nice to his kids…Ive seen him out in a restaurant with his son completely alone with no nanny and the kid in a highchair…and he was sweet and handled him wonderfully.
Its katie Couric who is dating a neocon and is supposedly so bitchy and demanding.
OK. Bushco stole Florida in 2000. What did the dems do about it?
To make waves would upset the tranquility. Upset corporations.
:fu: Fuck corporations.
I was just listenig to Majority Report from Friday and it seems like this Scientology thing has really blown up. I think that Jeaneane is way off base here because she keeps saying that its the same as any charity….but its not…and if she is so anti organized religion why is she giving money to the Mormons?
I’m afraid that they could keep stealing elections ๐
Old news, Tyger Thom. Good news, TT. Bushco stole the election. Peosecute the criminals!
Yeah!
:omg::omg::fu:Corporations!
I dunno, Matt just always seems so snarky to me, and he grilled Michael Moore as if he (Moore) was Hitler or something. If they questioned Bush, Cheney, Rummy, et, al, with a tenth the intensity that they reserved for Moore, maybe we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in. I’m sure Matt loves his kid. As Al says, Hitler loved his dogs, too.

Yeah well…I dont see him as being a bad guy. Everyone in the press except maybe Helen Thomas, David Gregory, and AAR, has not done thier jobs. I dont know if anyone in that position could stand up and say “Im not gonna do this…” Or maybe the perception was that it was better to grill Michael Moore because at that time they were being put through the wringer being called the “liberal Media” by the Rovistas….
I dont thin that I could have kept quiet all of this time, but maybe its better to have some liberals in place for now when the tide turns in our favor…?
Im not sure what to think anymore…………
Meredith Viera spoke her mind often though, but that was her position on Barbara Walter’s show, and they have that horrible Elizabeth whats-her-ding-dong as the conservative……
I cant even look at that show anymore…After Friday, Meredith is gone and thats that…then Rosie ODonnell joins and the freakshow begins anew.
Yeah, I destroyed one through too many coffee spills. It was bagel crumbs this time.
oh yeah lotsa crumbs. And bird doodies. Other things, maybe, I dunno. I think I lost an earring in my keyboard once
that’s ok, artists are allowed to be eccentric and ruin keyboards…
