Well, Disney and ABC are certainly taking a lot of flak over their Mickey Mouse piece of 9/11 propaganda. Maybe they’ll edit it, maybe they’ll drop it. Whatever. The fact is they wanted to crank out this piece of crap and lie to the world, they proudly promoted it to wingnuts, and they really shouldn’t be allowed to have a broadcast license. So, screw ’em – whatever they do, they’re dead to me. But if they don’t pull this crap off the air (and from the reviews out there, it’s not only bullshit, but a lousy movie on top of it), maybe we should start mailing dead mice (only those who died of natural causes, of course) to Disney. And send a few AAR’s way, too, just to let ’em know we haven’t forgotten them, either.

I had to turn off the Majority report last night when Fartman came on. His solutions would work if we had another 30 years to fix the problems but not today.. He is another one of these people externalizing the problems.. :gate::omg::jason::jason:
Malloy is right when he says that we need to fix the democratic party but one has to provide some encouragement for them to fix it .. :gate::omg::jason::jason::jason:

The more I listen to the Reich spewing forth their :crap:about how successful they have been since 911 at thwarting terraist attacks in the SBR the more convinced I become that there were never any attacks by foreign interests in the SBR ..just by contractors hired by “certain interests” in the SBR who happened to have foreign sounding names and had to be Arabs for their plan to seize the middle east and to establish a fascist state in the SBR to succeed. :gate::omg::jason::jason::fist::fist:
With that said I can’t seem to find any plastic RPG’s for sale any where on the web. :crap::crap::crap::crap:

Danish exports to Muslim countries have been hit hard by a row over cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad, officials in Denmark say.
A Muslim boycott of Danish goods led to a 15.5% drop in total exports between February and June. Trade to the Middle East fell by half, statistics show.
An industry chief said there was little doubt the cartoons row was to blame.
Publication of the cartoons in a Danish newspaper in September 2005 sparked mass protests among Muslims worldwide.

Opposition leaders in Bolivia’s wealthier eastern regions say a one-day strike in protest at plans to re-write the constitution was a huge success.
But the government said the stoppage was a political failure, because support was limited to the east.
The action was widely seen as the biggest challenge yet to the authority of President Evo Morales.
The strikers are objecting to plans to allow a constituent assembly to amend the charter by simple majority vote.
A power struggle between Bolivia’s wealthier, white elite – which opposes the changes – and its indigenous majority is at the heart of the row.
Friday’s strike prompted calls for compromise in what is seen as an increasingly polarised situation.

Class warfare all over the place .. The I got mine you can go to hell attitude. :jason::jason::jason::gate::omg:
Hey PJ what happened with the Chicago Piano and the AC130 emo’s , The chain saw only sounds dangerous although using either of the other two in a closed room can also be hazardous to your health..:eek::omg::yuck:
The WJ talking point this morning is whether the SBR is making progress against the war on terra.
Correct me if I am wrong
1. We are losing Afghanistan
2. We are losing Iraq
3. There have been several “real” terra attacks in Europe
4. The number of terra attacks all over the world is up like 400% since 2000
5. The war in Iraq has provided a training ground that has increased the ranks of AQ from maybe 10,000 to several hundred thousand world wide.
The biggest question to ask is why have there been no terra attacks in the SBR ?? It’s not because of anything Bushco has done..:eek:
I hope RealPlayer hurries up with that skin with a boot for a mute button. The Reich on C-span are all cranky delusional old men ( and an occasional women) .. They must get all there news from listening to Reich wing congress people on C-span and Art Limpprick. :yuck::yuck::barf::eek:
Way too early for me.
If you check out The One Percent Solution, Fred, Suskind says that CIA analysts concluded, first that Bin Laden wantedBush re-elected, and that the film released on the eve of the election was a campaign ad for Bush, and second, although the US is vulnerable, the top echelons of Al Quida don’t think its worth it to strike in the US right now, when its much easier to pick us off in Afghanistan and Iraq, and to split off our allies in England and Spain. So bush can ignore the recommendations of the 911 Commish, because for now, we’re not going to get hit here again anyway.
Or so the story goes.
The effect of the Reich’s reaction to the 911 attacks has been to do exactly what the Islamic terraists wanted to happen. The SBR turns into a dictatorship hated by a majority of our trading partners who eventually will turn off the oil and consumer goods supply and watch us squirm as we die as a country. The poor will eventually riot and perform large scale urban renewal in the rich peoples neighborhoods. :yuck::yuck::eek::crap::paranoid:
This may take quite a while to happen so remember that there are not a lot of places to escape to so that the horrors of slowly drowning as the Titanic sinks will not apply to you . :gate::omg::jason::jason:
The problem with such poor port security is that some non terraist country will ( or perhaps already have) ship in a container or two or a dozen containing some long aluminum cylinders with a tag on them that says ” bomb type H yield 5 megatons. ” :omg::yuck::eek::paranoid:

For some reason the students see absolutely no reason to learn math and science since it would seem that they are all going to be exotic dancers or work at road maintenance for the state when they grow up.:eek::barf::paranoid:
Whattya want? A piano and an AK47? I’ll have to see. I’m still trying to get used to this cutesy puppy thing (kinda reminds me of Lola, Melina – at least the level of enthusiasm).
FTP, yeah, if anybody wants to upload some content to me, I’ll set something up. Then I’ll add it to the rotation. If you do something, use a sampling rate 44,100, and get it to me in mp3 format, and it’ll make my life easier. In fact, if anybody wants to really try and get this Seditionist Radio going, I’ve set up a “by invite only” Yahoo group to use as a mailing list, and maybe get some ideas together. Let me know if anybody wants to be on the “board.” I’m thinking maybe we ca get Danny G to be CEO.
This server is a bit touchy for things like sampling rate. If you’re running this on Windows, you use the DSP plugin on Winamp to push the content to the server. You use the Winamp playlist editor, the plugin take the input, and transcodes it to the bitrate your server is set up for. If you’re using Linux, you can’t do that, so you have to run another transcoder in addition to the server (you also have to make a playlist, with the absolute path to the files you’re gonna use). Unfortunately, all the content has to be at the same sampling rate. So I first had to batch convert all the content to PCM, to up the sample rate. Then I had to batch convert it all back to mp3 at the sampling rate I wanted. Then, after I’d done that, something got AFU with the transcoder, and everything came out sounding like Mickey Mouse on helium. Of course, I didn’t know what the deal was, so I screwed around with all kinds of different sampling and bit rates and all that – for many hours. As a last resort, I tried replacing the transcoder executable with a fresh version, and that seemed to do the trick (must’ve gotten corrupted or something, somehow).
We wound up listening to the old bits for hours last night, though. Now that I haven’t heard some of these for a long, long time, they are really just amazing to listen to again. What a waste.
There’s also the potential for relaying content to the server, but I’ll have to figure that out. I really shouldn’t be spending so much time on it right now.
Kick my ass for stinking up the house? Nah, I think she was just happy to have me finish something I started. Pretty tough to remove the back door, and then quit. Plus, “somebody” decided they just had to have a door that opened out, which meant I had to make the door hole larger, ‘cuz the old one opened in, and was cut down to fit (new door is steel – plus it was a prehung unit, and the old one was just a door and some hinges slapped into a hole). Oy, what a pain. Had to use a chainsaw to cut out the floor joists, and then I had to frame it back in so the house would stay put. Fortunately, I was younger then, and was still working for a living. Now? Fuhgettaboutit.
A Thomson Machine gun emo would be a Chicago Piano.. any C130 emo would work .. one with lightning coming out the side would be even better.. That puppy is cute.. Sending you Mp3’s would be the best deal from a bandwidth/file size standpoint. 10 megs is a little big to just email,. that is if you plan on receiving any more mail that day.
Linux open source has to be the first plug and play system envisioned .. You quite often install something from source and then play with it for two weeks before it finally builds and then it has BUGS. :yuck::yuck::eek::eek::paranoid:
Yeah, well, gmail will do 10 MB attachments, and I have a couple of gigs of free space. But all the IM clients have file transfer as well. It’s easy enough to set up an FTP server, though. If I get the files in a format I don’t have to mess with, then directly to the Linux box would be easiest. But if I have to play with them, it’s easier to do it on my PC, which has a ton of disk space and all my software.
It all depends. There are lots of complete packages for Linux, plus a bunch of installers. Right now, I’m using SUSE 10.1, which has YAST. You add mirrors for the install packages, and it connects and installs them. Otherwise, you sometimes have to compile the thing before you can run it. Mostly, though, Linux is pretty simple (hard part is getting used to the file system, and remembering where shit is). But if you just want to install and run it out of the box, w/o doing anything fancy, you’re all set. Plus it’s free, so it’s worth a little effort.
Our Linux boxes that run the fab machines keep large data files of performance data that is used to look for problems before they occur and shut the machine down.. They make like a 260 meg file and just using Samba and transferring it by Windows explorer to the analysis depts Windoze machine takes half a day per file over the internal network where doing an FTP transfer only takes 30 minutes or so. :yuck::eek:
Yay! I don’t have to report for jury duty on Monday. Now, just keep your toes crossed that I don’t have to go on Tuesday, either. And that they get a jury (actually, sounds like they have two or three trials starting up) empaneled and excuse me entirely. Then I’ll be off the hook for another four years. Otherwise, I’ll have to rely on my IMPEACH! t-shirt to get the job done.
Oh, yeah, winders file sharing can be dogass slow (not always, though – there are a whole lot of things involved; at home here, I can swap files around via windows quite quickly, though I think FTP will always be faster, all things being equal). HTTP file sharing, too. When I was working on the Lockerbie Trial website, the Scottish Crown Office was supposed to e-mail us the daily transcripts, but the files were large, and their system was to store the e-mail on the server, and then upload the mail to satellite from Kamp Zeist in The Netherlands. I think the larger stuff got queued up, and held until night time, which wasn’t good enough for the families who were following the trial, and desperately wanted as much information as possible. So, I set up an FTP server on my PC, and then had the tech guy from the US Embassy at the Hague drive over there, and show them how to send it over (tried to get them to zip it up, too, but that was just too darn difficult), and install an FTP client. Solved our problem, and kept the families happy. Well, happier.
We quite often use a utility called YUM( Yellow Dog Update Manager) to do both system wide updates and to find and install new software.. We have mostly Red Hat 9 on the control computers. Some would like to move to Fedora but the driver packages for the data acquisition boards won’t install under Fedora and the vendor just now is slowly getting around to fixing them . I thought one could probably see what the dependencies on the RPM packages was and just move the older libs over to the Fedora box but the driver Make files apparently reference things as only a type library and not by rev level and just renaming them caused other system problems.
NASA is supposed to launch their 81 Chevy into orbit this morning at 11:30 eastern if anyone is interested C-span is carrying it live.:paranoid:
Good Morning :pup:
So, I took a poll job for Tuesdays primary and I don’t think I realized how much responsibility I took on when I accepted the Inspector position. :smack: I took it because it paid the most, I spose that should have put up a red flag, huh. :smack: Tuesday’s gonna be a long day.
Yeah, the whole dependencies thing can be a real hassle. Kind of like being a private investigator, as this requires that, but that requires, this, that and the other, but the other requires… :omg:
Can be a drag. I was trying to install something or other just the other day, and had to install this and that, but thing required v.1.2.2 of some damn thing, but all I had was 1.2.1, and there was no 1.2.2 for the SUSE distro, so I decided I really didn’t need whatever it was I was gonna install.
People don’t give MS nearly enough credit for how simple it’s become to install shit. I mean, there was a time when it was a hassle, and dlls would be overwritten and all that, or drivers would kill something else, but I really haven’t had problems in a long, long time. Mostly, it’s the fact that there’s so much out there, and some of it is poorly written, and that can cause trouble, but it’s hardly an issue these days.
I love the Mac commercials, where they show the PC guy as nothgin working, but everything works with the Mac. I keep wondering if anybody actually believes that. I hear people say, “oh, I just plug it into my Mac, and it works.” And I think, yeah, well, I just plug it into my PC, and it works, too.
Me, I don’t really care either way. I need to put together a fast box and try Linux on it. It always seems clunky to me, but then I never install it on anythign but old cobbled together hardware. I have SUSE runing on a PII 450, with “only” 384 Megs of RAM or something in it, and it’s really not too bad.
This new Freespire distro sounds interesting. It comes with some proprietary (non-opensource) drivers for things like video and sound cards, which sounds interesting.

Were you the one in the blue jeans jacket with the straw hat .. :?::?::?:
Good morning, KP. Have you found a box of free puppies yet? We keep talking about getting another one, but I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Puppies are great – as long as you don’t require much sleep for a few months. Something just extra special about having them from the time they fit in the palm of your hand, and watching them grow up.
Good morning seditionisti- Im watching Mahr from last night…..
I was wearing a blue and white striped shirt with a canvas hat.
If you are really adventurous or want to work for a Defense contractor and need to know more that you would normally never want to know Sun Micro systems has open source too.

I’ve never gotten puppies or kittens. I always go to the Humane Society and get them at least a year so I don’t have to deal with potty training. But I regret not seeing Jane as a pup and I think I might like a puppy next time. But I am about to take on a second job so I think getting a dog is gonna have to wait a while.
Plus, 2 of the other dogs are pretty old and creaky. I wouldn’t want them to have to deal with a new puppy.
I must have lost at least three pairs of bedroom slippers to puppies I will go with Krista’s idea if I get another dog. 😮
Yeah, Siggy’s pretty used to being king of the house (we have a saying here, when Siggy says “woof,” we say “how high”), so I don’t know that I want to subject him to a little whipper-snapper. Though maybe they could hang out together, and not insist that I take them out to the park every single day (though it doesn’t look like we’re going anywhere today, unless RG wants to go when she gets back from whatever it is she’s at this morning – something to do with NOON, I think).
Oh, man, I couldn’t count the number of things puppies have eaten on me over the years (some stuff you get back again, though – one way or the other).
Yeah, the chewing thing. 🙄
When I first got Jane, I had checked out a few books on dog training from the library and Jane wasn’t too bad about chewing but she did chew up the corner of one of the books and it was the book that sucked. When I returned it, I felt like it was a good critique of the book and that future dog owners could benefit.
Hey- My 12 year old nephew was arrested in Westport yesterday!
Apparently, this kid from his street has been harassing him on the bus for years, calling him fat and stuff…and yesterday he was so mad that he tried to beat him up but other kids held him back ( and I should say that in CT we have a no bullying policy, but my sister and brother in law have not reported these kids because they have a sorta hands off approach- which seems to come more from their own not wanting to rock the boat in the cul de sac hell where they live than actually dealing with bullying, which is a big problem and cant be ignored.) …so he went home and strapped on all of his big black airsoft guns a la columbine, and marched over there to kill the kid…regardless of the fact that at worst an airsoft gun can put out an eye at worst…he is a big kid (like gonna be a football player and gonna be really tall in a year or so) …and the parents of the kid went insane and called the cops…
So, the father of the kid screamed at my sister, who was there telling Zach to get in the car, and the cop had to tell the guy to back off…that he was out of line….
One interesting thing that the cop said, which RG will appreciate, regarding the airsoft issue, is that the bad guys are now painting their real guns with orange tips so the cops in Bridgeport or wherever dont know what is a real gun or a fake one.
The real issue to me is that if parents dont get involved in this bus bullying (and I have not hesitated ot have kids kicked off the bus for bothering Will in the past) and bullying in general, you end up with frustrated, angry kids who want to kill someone!
My sister keeps saying that its sometihng that kids should work out, but I know that a bigger part of it is not wanting to confront anyone or upset the false facade of the happy cul de sac. I HATE those people….she asks me to go out with her and all those women in that town all the time and I just cant stand them with their talk of their houses and plastic surgeries…I knwo that there are interesting, arty, great, people there
but I have yet to meet them.
So the airsoft guns are gone from the cul de sac…..as they should be….
Will has some, but we have no neighbors and its not like there are a bunch of boys runnign round the neighborhood having an ongoing war with them. Will just shoots cans and at most plays with one kid at a time, so its managable…But also, Will is not compulsive about them. Most of the time he could care less about them….So, I dont have to worry…he also is a real rule follower.
But, in general, I guess that they have to go eventually…..or get painted pink or a bright color, just in case.
The UPS guy told me that he is delivering so many of these things that hes become really curious about what they are….
So, Will had left a couple of his outside (of course!) and we spent a really long time trying to figure how to load the thing and then shooting….Me and the UPS guy….
But they are nothing like the old time bb guns…still could hurt an eye if you dont wear goggles, and could kill a small animal maybe, if one had that sorta aim….
Watching the Space Shuttle get ready to go for launch reminds me a lot of the sights in the Durango Silverton railroad yard as they prep the steam locomotives to go on there morning run to Silverton.. Not much has changed there since the 1920’s .. I wonder how behind the 8 ball NASA is by now.
Well, that sucks about your nephew (though I have no idea what an airsoft gun is, but I reckon I get the general idea).
God, I’d love to take a ride on that shuttle. Wouldn’t especially wanna get blown up or disintegrated, but I sure would like to see the view from up there. Saw the Space Shuttle IMAX thing on our hemidome IMAX screen, and it was pretty freakin’ cool.
The guy at Freeperville sells paint ball guns along with the real things .. The kids should be careful about playing with them after it gets dark since the police can’t tell the paint ball guns from the real ones and pointing one at a cop might not be a good idea.:eek::eek:
Seanie also has airsoft guns…the pellets or bb’s are biodegradable little pieces of plastic and if you shoot up close they can hurt you, but nothing like paintball…Its just that they look real and are all the rage round here. I dont like guns. RG and I agree on that…but I feel like, if I deny this when its so popular it will make it a bigger deal. As it stands, its no big deal and the craziness has sorta passed round here.
They are cool because they have this air repeat action….and a big cock action…its all very macho. I can see why the boys like ’em….
but, I dont like anything that looks like a real gun.
Sounds like they’re “go” for launch.
Well, the cops are saying that in the inner city real guns are being painted with an orange tip.
But we have no neighbors…andthey never leave here….if we had any neighbors or kids running round here playing I wouldnt allow them. Its too scary.
eeekkkk…Im always so worried when they launch and land….you’d think that they could come up with a better design. This thing with foam panels….what do I know?…but it seems sorta rickety. As if it was made by a subsidiary of halliburton…..
Hey, so check this out. A good friend of mine works at the coloseum here and said that the police were training there for about a week. Like training for crowd control and things like that and he got one of the rubber bullets they were using. Have you seen how big those suckers are?? They are over 1 1/4″ in diameter and height!! :omg: That’s a little more than “ouch” I’d say.
Well, I don’t own guns, and probably wouldn’t (unless I felt a particular need – like somebody threatened me or my family), but I have gone shooting a few times (just targets, of course; no animals), and in that context it’s fun. Had a friend that used to build muzzle loaders, and we’d go shoot them. I used to play with toy guns when I was a kid, I guess. Toy soldiers were more my thing. I’d set them up all over the hill in the back yard, and then make mudball “artillery” to shell them with. Also was kinda in to blowing them up with firecrackers, and burning them with gasoline. I was pretty tough on model kits.
None of that made me particularly violent, though. I wound up taking a hunter safety course when I was about 25 or something (had some projectionist friends that were into hunting and guns), but I never did get the hunting license. Just can’t bring myself to kill bambi. Especially the field dressing part.
The M16/AR15 are only high velocity 22’s for all practical purposes good for maybe 200 yards on a calm day so the army actually uses paint ball guns for realistic close in training exercises. They make a paint ball version of almost everything the army uses including field artillery and mortars. and a civilian can buy a fully automatic paint ball rifle whereas a fully automatic anything in a real weapon is illegal. 😮
You’d think they’d insulate the inside of the tanks, so the shit doesn’t fall off. But it’s those delicate ceramic tiles that are really a pretty weak point. And the “O” rings on the SRB’s are (or at least were) a little scary.
The thugs and the DLC demodorps have really limited NASA funding and all basic scientific research financed by the US government over the last 20 years or more .. They haven’t found any military or commercial uses for space exploration, particle research and making cheap electrical power as of yet. The fact NASA is still in business is pretty amazing ..:paranoid:
KP ==> Thank you for the wonderful surprise! I have one lovely zinnia from the garden in it. You are a wonderful potter. My son explained how that kind of firing works. THANK YOU – you didn’t have to, but….I’m so glad you did!
I dunno if it’s a guy thing or not, but damn that was pretty cool. The shot from the camera on the tank as it separated was just really cool. I can’t help but think, here I am, watching live TV from something being launched into space, that’s being send down the the ground, passed along to DirecTV, zipped back up to another satellite in orbit, and then zapped down to the little baby dish on my house. And at least NASA-TV isn’t owned by Disney. I hope. :paranoid:
Oh, it wasn’t a raku fired pot, was it?
Oh, I’d expect that Disney has a hand in that too….their monoploy wouldnt be complete without a mouse ear in space!
Mahr’s new rules and commentary was excellent last night.
Im hoping to find a clip of it somewhere….
Of course, it isn’t like the olden days of mission control, where they had a room full of guys with buzzcuts, white shirts, and ties, smoking cigarettes, in front of a bunch of knobs and dially things with toggle switches and blinky-blinky lights. Those were the days.
Its not just a guy thing pj….I think its cool too.
Someday we will look back at the need for those huge fuel rockets as being so prehistoric…..It seems like there needs to be a whole better energy system alltogether….the amount of fuel this thing burns is just an example of how inefficient our engineering is in general.
My pleasure, really FK. I hope that all you guys will have a piece of mine in time. In fact, I must run to my ceramic open studio time right now. First project, urn for Sweet Jane. Later!
Oh, I haven’t watched last night’s show yet. His thing at Salon yesterday was pretty good.
Well, they’re still looking at building the space elevators with carbon nanotubes. I think some sort of magnetic propulsion or something sounds good, to get up into orbit. Most likely, they’ll just get the shit they need up into space, and build it all from there, eliminating the need to send huge amounts of weight up there. Once they get a base built on the moon, they can extract the water up there, and use that for propulsion, or use a solar sail.
The fuel that the main engines on the shuttle use is actually hydrogen and oxygen. The solid fuel boosters ( SFB’s) use the same stuff the minuteman III’s use. It’s very toxic and air polluting so NASA got it at least half right. 😮
melina, cancun sounds nice! as for the notarized note, sometimes it is requested and sometimes not so it’s best to have one. Don’t you have a friend who is a notary? 😉
being on the wrong end of bullying can build up, can’t it? i strongly disagree with your sister’s attitude, if I can be so bold and it’s not presumptuous to say. Parents are supposed to make certain their children are safe. I’d have “introduced” my dogs to that bratty bully. mess with my son, you can “play” with the giant balls of fur!
I’m armed and liberal. Gotta be ’round these parts, though.
and speaking of dogs, KP, stay away from Petsmart if you don’t want a new pup!:pup: {{are you the one in the light-colored floppy hat?}}
{gawd I had a crappy night’s sleep. )
LASTLY: this is a pretty interesting article by John Tierney about the difference between terrorist threat and terrorist industry. it’s NYtimes select so maybe melina can post it.
P.S. is it ok if i don’t understand all the computer talk above? I feel smarter even though I don’t have a clue what I read.
Ion engines operated by breeder nuclear reactors will probably fly the Mars missions but only after they get it into space. The energy requirements to overcome the weak force ( gravity) requires much to much energy so if they continue with space exploration only a space dock and an orbiting facility or a facility on the moon would make sense.:omg:
AND (sorry, I’m really out of it today) here’s your free legal advice for the day:
If you don’t have a passport blogren, GET ONE. It’s like Seditionists Radio…if you have one, think of the places you will go! :gate:
Well.. The laundry completed with no errors so its off to the Kroger or I won’t have any bread for lunch… bbl 😮
Yeah, my passport is expired, and even that works for flying (domestically) and border crossing. I need to renew it, though. Just hate to spend the $.
I’d hate to be without my passport. And :paranoid: what if the rapture right succeeds in taking over and you have to leave in a jiffy?
Yes, Im getting a passport for us. I just dont want to have to contact the father, who sent a card last Christmas but never called….and why open that up if Will isnt asking? Apparently there is a space on the form that the passport office wants where you explain that the guy is absent and you get it notarized. My bank does the notary stuff for free. I can always get a lawyer letter if I need it, but why pay?
Ill be damned if Im gonna call the fucker and ask him for a letter to allow me to bring Will out of the country when he hasnt sent a penny or called for years.
Also, if I have a passport I can do a last minute super cheapie club med for a long weekend if I can get my Mom to watch Will. The guy was saying that the Turquoise club is really nice for a no kids getaway.
We should look into the group rates and have a seditionista meetup at one of those places….If its $1600 per person all inclusive for 7 days at the height of the season, with an upgraded room with a balcomy that looks at the ocean and at their premierely newly rebuilt club, I’d expect that group rates, not exactly on season, would be less….
Actually, if we can get the T shirt and merchandise thing going maybe we can sell at slightly above price in order to create a fund to help those with less $ a scholarship to this…um…convention of liberal seditionists….and/or enough to hire Marc to come for a few days and be the keynote speaker…..
PS….. PJ, can I be on the board of Seditionist Radio?
well, if the rapture right succeeds, Kat, people will probably be walking across the border to Canada…its not like anyone is gonna take us.
Did you see Mahr talking about how the rest of the world is hopefully starting to realize that we also dont understand what hes saying…and that “we’re not with Stupid”
seditionist scholarship fund!
:rofl2:
except when i was overseas i gave my disclaimer that i didn’t vote for the stupid silly man, and people kept saying, “no one admits to voting for him.” It was as if it’s my fault anyway….. was disconcerting, I must say.
Oh and regarding the bullying thing…I feel really vindicated (though my sister hasnt called me yet…my MOm is telling me this)
because the indication in my family has always been that Im too hands-on and that I baby Will too much….when they dont even know whats gone on and where I draw my line.
Im involved in whats going on and if I see a kid who is troubled or has an anger problem…and certainly, if anyone is making fun of someone’s fatness or skininess, Im gonna step in. I used to get on the bus and talk to the kids…and then if that didnt work I reported them. The school pulls them out of class and scares the shit out of them…because there is a no bullying law here and we use it!
If these kids are not taught how to navigate socially then they are just gonna be more and more angry.
The cop said to Zach how he oculd see that Zach was such a huge guy and that by high school he will be the biggest guy and none of this will matter…..so he has to learn to ignore people…but, since my sister, father and stepmother spent most of my childhood telling me that I was fat (when I wasnt really from what I can see from pictures) and I never got over it, Im pretty serious about people not harassing others about weight or looks…..it is usually about thebully’s insecurities, and maybe they have unaddressed problems, but I see no reason to dismiss any of that for social reasons or to let kids learn how to work things out.
Who is showing kids a good way to work things out anyway?
Mahr says that is changing because of how crazy it all is and how Americans are questioning…..If these elections dont go well then we will have to reasess….
Wow…Im so impressed that Fred or anyone can complete their laundry. It seems that everytime Im close to the bottom, there is more.
Maybe I need to get a shirt that says Sorry! to wear in Mexico….though I usually have a few little buttons on me that tell people where I stand.
“It takes a Village” to raise kids. Though, I’ve learned that Southerners don’t like to be told by strangers not to hit their children. :fire:
They also don’t like it when I shout “litter bug” out my car window when they throw their cigarette butts on the ground. (the teenager HATES it when I do it, too.)
Well, I’d love to get something going re: swag. Not for profit so much as for fun, but then if a buck or two could be made off it for a good cause, that’d be OK, too. The biggest hassle I can see is the money and taxes issue. And then of course, do you set up some sort of an LLC, or what, and how does it all get handled in terms of liability and whatnot (for instance suppose somebody designs a shirt, and says to go ahead and use it, and then it turns out to be a big seller, and they suddenly think they ought to get some money, or there’s a MS character-based shirt, and then the creator of said character decides there’s a copyright infringement and all that other messy kind of shit that sometimes rears its ugly head when money is involved).
Oh, and sure, Melina, you can be on the SR board. I’ll send you an invite to the Yahoo group of you want (need to have a Yahoo account, which I seem to recall you got for Yahoo messenger).
I wonder if it took a village to raise that village idiot of a preznit we got foisted upon us?
the village gave him up for lost when he came out of “barbara bush’s vagina**”
** I use that uncouth expression in honor of maron & earl who had a rather lengthy discussion about her female body parts, as I recall. :omg:
oh, there are all kinds of mechanisms to hopefully prevent a lawsuit. problem is, a person can always sue and they might have a snow’s chance in hell of winning, but you’d still have to answer to and defend the lawsuit…. there are lots of tools you could use to try and prevent that, though.
Hey PJ- I would love to be on the board and contribute any way to getting SR going. My yahoo is rudiblue56.
I want to help travis set up the DSL today but
a) I am helpless on a PC and
b) I have a cable modem.
May have to enlist KP or anyone else that has a DSL to help. Travis said that software “wouldn’t load” or something.
Well I would expect that a paper could be filed to make it a not for profit and that a tiny percentage could be used for administrative costs…and the design situation will require a release. Usually if it is a not for profit stating that it will give whatever percentage to…oh, I dont know…Democratic causes…and then specify amongst ourselves: like give to the Democratic presidential nominee or to some fund to help Katrina victims that is not tied up in Bush cronys….
Ill have ot search for the papers for the 501c. …then there is no risk of something becoming a big hit.
I would want to have releases on file anyway.
Ive done compilation records where even pretty big stars have easily signed releases for their songs to be added…and this benefitted a musical festival that I worked on for a couple of years…not katrina or liberal causes….and also, isnt a liberal totally independent radio station a good cause?
Im willing to give to it.
Melina was Maher better this week? So busy with the Brits here that haven’t had a chance to watch- We did watch “The Truth about Cats and Dogs” last night- seemed appropriate.
Does Travis have a cell phone? Maybe PJ could call him and walk him through it…though they should have tech support for that. Our cable company tech support is superb…and they take ocntrol of your computer and do the stuff themselves remotely.
Sounds like we have a volunteer for Legal Counsel (not to mention media representative).
Tens of thousands of people have been demonstrating in Taiwan to demand the resignation of President Chen Shui-bian over corruption allegations.
The protesters, many dressed in red to highlight their anger, gathered in the capital on what organisers describe as the first day of mass protests.
Mr Chen’s popularity has plummeted amid scandals involving relatives and aides.
In one case, his son-in-law is facing charges – which he denies – of insider trading on the stock market.
Organisers say more that 200,000 people joined Saturday’s rally outside the presidential offices in Taipei – but police put the number at 90,000.

This is the first one of King Kong’s mentioned demonstrations I have seen in the news.
Kat- if its purely to benefit something and there isnt alot of money involved, what are the chances that someone would sue?
If something was a huge hit and suddenly there was flush cash, we owuld have to get an accountant to donate time or just pay em.
I cant imagine that it would make any money…and if it did we would just give it away….besides our little scholarships and operating costs fund. Its not like we would pay salaries or health insurance…or even have staff…which is how aar got bogged down.
If there were suddenly millions of dollars, then I guess that if we needed a lawyer we would get one….but if its a charity, usually a lawyer will give time.
Mahr was GREAT! The new rules and the commentary are the best Ive seen in a while. I was laughing out loud like I havent since I saw Marc perform last.
I have been on the fringes of a non-profit 501C3 before and the paperwork is pretty hefty as I recall. I had no time to be involved in that part.
One thing I am confused about is the political affiliation and the non profit issue. (especially with the churchy origins of that ABC/ 911 fiasco) I mean can’t they be stripped of their non-profit status if the get too politically biased?
I think if it is not a “church” it is OK.
My experience was with an “almost dead” language group in Seattle.
Shouldn’t be much to setting it up, depending on how you’re using it. When it “doesn’t install” is there some kind of message? Is there anti-virus stuff running that might need to be disabled durign install? The PC has a NIC in it, and all that, right? Are you using this with a router? Should just be able to configure the network stuff with whatever settings they gave you and be good to go.
Barbara Bush is big enough to be a village or maybe even a county. Kind of reminds me of the joke about how long a super tanker is .. The answer was that the captain didn’t exactly know but he was usually in three time zones at any one time.
Well, I don’t really anticipate a lot of money here, but I would like to be sure that down the road, there’s no hassles involved. I would think everybody here would be cool, but then that whole money thing can sometimes make people kinda goofy.
Ok PJ we are going to work on it sometime this later afternoon I guess.
I doubt if Travis is awake and blogging yet. He emailed me at 1:30 am I believe. Also now that it is raining he may not be able to get through online from his neighbor’s open signal.
I have a cell phone. We will of course try Qwest first and I will get on and print out what I can from their website. Thanks!
I just know that KP recently set hers up, has a PC and may be able to offer some insight.

How was the mayor?
oh going to canada the other night (thursday) me and my roommate were stopped at the border truck got searched and when they gave us our ID back they said next time bring your birth certificate with you the fucked up thing being that they never even asked us if we had our birth certificates fucking retarded canuckians!
now I cant get the picture of Barbara Bush’s Vagina out of my mind…thanks alot….
I have a Qwest DSL modem.. You are supposed to connect the modem to the phone line then you hook up the computer to the modem then turn the modem on followed by the computer and then install their software , which finds the modem and you are done. That was on a PC however. Maybe there is a separate install for a Mac.:paranoid:

:doh:Mayor ummm interesting although im more up on national issues than the city i mean i havent even been here since april so most of it was like who cares! but he was good i told him we need electric busses like they have in san francisco and that he needs to get the free public WIFI thing going and uh i told him about a sign on the east side that still says the mayor from the 80s is mayor
Thank you fred that boils it down… We are doing this (or will be) on a PC but I only know Macs
NIC = network interface card. It’s the thingie that has what looks like a fat phone connector (rj-45, as opposed to the phone, which is rj-11) that you plug your Ethernet cable into.
Well, the borders are gonna get much tighter beginning Jan 1st. You will need a passport officially…now they are just saying to bring it along, but we are in a trend here…and soon we will have to carry our papers everywhere.
oh jeffy had an altercation HERE http://www.whld1270.com/read.php?17,3
PAPERS?
:rofl2:
A NIC is the acronym for Network Interface Card ..That would be a big female phone type plug on the back of the computer ( RJ45) ..My DSL modem has both a network cable and a USB cable interface .
Yeah, you also need to install filters on any other phone lines you have (they ordinarily give you a few). If the software doesn’t install, you should be able to manually configure the network stuff. If you’re using a router, then you need to configure the router with the connection stuff, and then just plug the PC into it (still needs the netowork stuff configured, but usually it’s configured with DHCP, so there isn’t much to do).
Mom says that the new passports have a chip that holds all the information, but the problem is that the chip is less than secure, in that hackers can get your information when your ein a foreign country etc…sounds like a halliburton chip to me…
Mom went crazy renewing her passport before this chip went into effect. I think its too late for Will and I…might as well put a chip in my head at this point.
Sign me up, pj! my yahoo is souleiadofarm
llc’s are very easy and cheap to set up and run. need an agreement among members, though, about profits, loss, disagreements, death, divorce, and stuff. you wouldn’t have to re-invent the wheel – there’s information out there that can be parsed together to make sure fairness is built in.

they emit a radio frequency or something – the passports. it’s controversial and clearly some corp talked some yahoo-congressman in to doing it. I did what your mom did, btw.
Thanks you guys!
I am printing off stuff from the qwest site.
I call that the Ethernet “schnozzle”
Yeah, the chips are a requirement, but they felt that requiring encryption would be too tough, so the data isn’t encrypted, and is easily cloned (and therefore defeats the purpose of having the goddamn things in the first place). The other fear is that the bad people will will be able to wireless scan a crowded area (say, an airport lounge), and easily identify, oh, I dunno, Americans?
:pup:i want a chip in my head! yay i love:love: that movie johnny mnemonic

i gotta go do paperwork and i’ve been really putting it off. I want these for my birthday, but last time i asked mr fk he had a conniption…he rattled off something about falling and my heart and my neck :billcat:

melina, you can get one of these for your passport. presumably it’s bigger than the EZ pass case!

How They Let the Guilty Parties of 9/11 Slip Off the Hook
The 9/11 Conspiracy Nuts
By ALEXANDER COCKBURN
You trip over one fundamental idiocy of the 9/11 conspiracy nuts — — the ones who say Bush and Cheney masterminded the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon — in the first paragraph of the opening page of the book by one of their high priests, David Ray Griffin, The New Pearl Harbor. “In many respects,” Griffin writes, “the strongest evidence provided by critics of the official account involves the events of 9/11 itself… In light of standard procedures for dealing with hijacked airplanes… not one of these planes should have reached its target, let alone all three of them.”
The operative word here is “should”. One characteristic of the nuts is that they have a devout, albeit preposterous belief in American efficiency, thus many of them start with the racist premise that “Arabs in caves” weren’t capable of the mission. They believe that military systems work the way Pentagon press flacks and aerospace salesmen say they should work. They believe that at 8.14 am, when AA flight 11 switched off its radio and transponder, an FAA flight controller should have called the National Military Command center and NORAD. They believe, citing reverently (this is from high priest Griffin) “the US Air Force’s own website”, that an F-15 could have intercepted AA flight 11 “by 8.24, and certainly no later than 8.30”.
They appear to have read no military history, which is too bad because if they did they’d know that minutely planned operations – let alone responses to an unprecedented emergency — screw up with monotonous regularity, by reason of stupidity, cowardice, venality, weather and all the other whims of providence. . .

ABC gets more pressure to toss 9/11 film
By DAVID BAUDER, AP Television Writer
NEW YORK – ABC faced growing pressure Friday about its planned miniseries on the buildup to the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Former Clinton administration officials, historians and a Democratic petition with nearly 200,000 signatures urged the network to scrap it.
The network said the movie is being edited to deal with concerns that it distorts history and had no response to the calls to abandon it.
A group of historians, including Arthur Schlesinger Jr. and Princeton University’s Sean Wilentz, wrote to ABC parent Walt Disney Co. CEO Robert Iger, urging him to scrap the series. They said that permitting inaccuracies to heighten drama is “disingenuous and dangerous.”
“A responsible broadcast network should have nothing to do with the falsification of history, except to expose it,” they wrote……..

Both RFK, Mr. Baloney and Ms Flanders have all indicated that AAR is in deep coca and it was uncertain how much longer they would be around.. It is to bad they can’t make it on 1600 dollars an hour.. :yuck::crap:
AAR whether they beleive it or not do not have an audiamce of people making six figure incomes.
Most worker bees sense something is wrong and a couple of days of AAR just confurms that thought.. after another couple of days they are pissed as hell..so what do they do.?? there CEO wants to move to China and lay them all off, there are no jobs, they have no organization. All AAR in its present form does is cause extreme cases of acid refux and sleepless nights.:yuck::crap::paranoid:
So what they do is just quit listening.:fustrate:
Hayden is totally useless.. Demonstrations without the threat of breaking something in the process are useless.:fu::fu::fu:

Well, soon you’ll have a chance to join the fray, and tell the millions of future listeners of Sedition Radio what they need to do (as long as it’s legal, of course) to take back America. We may well outlast AAR (and I can pretty much guarantee nobody will be getting a six figure salary – unless all six figures are to the right of the decimal point).
The reason we don’t have a more proactive left is because of people like those on Laura’s blog spewing useless platitudes. and thinking they are doing something.:yuck::yuck::barf:

Hey, Pap is one of the really strong truth tellers around…and if AAR goes off the air it will be a tragedy in that we will lose RFK Jr and Pap….I know Sam will resurface at least locally, but I dont know if RFK Jr and Pap really need this crap. Pap is on the board of AAR, right?
Krista, you need to read back…we’re starting our own online radio station….thanks to PJ!
It was 2 days ago or so that PJ wrote about it in his morning notes…since then hes been playing with a program and a box and its working for a few listeners at a time.
If you want to listen to some funny bits, you can tune to Seditionist Radio. Tune in for a few minutes, or a few hours.
By the way, KP, if you want to join the “board” for Seditionist Radio, let me know. We have five members, so far. All female, except for me. Just the way I like it. :hubba:

Disheartening…..
In 1981 the Michigan Supreme Court approved the forced relocation of 3,500 people in Detroit so General Motors could build a new Cadillac plant. In 2004 the same Court decided they’d made a mistake and overturned the decision.
The Michigan Court reversed its infamous “Poletown” decision and stopped local governments from seizing land for private use, calling the law unconstitutional. The Detroit News cheered the decision saying the Court “overruled one of the worst judicial decisions of modern times,” and the Wall Street Journal hailed it as hopefully putting an end to “gross violations of fundamental Constitutional protections.” Not likely.
The Michigan decision, County of Wayne v. Hathcock, is the latest salvo in the war that goes back to England before the American Revolution when the local sovereign could take a subject’s land at will. So with the coming of the Revolutionary War, private property rights became a central issue and got enshrined in a Fifth Amendment prohibition against the taking of private property for public use without just compensation.

Has anyone seen that classic community-in-struggle documentary,
Poletown
? I would love to get a video copy. The Miracle of Intervale Avenue
Synonymous today with crime and urban abandonment, New York’s South Bronx once teemed with Jewish life. Jewish shops thrived and worshipers spilled onto the sidewalks from hundreds of synagogues. Feeling increasingly threatened by the rise in crime, the Jews moved away. By 1983 only a handful remained.
Most are elderly and idiosyncratic, refusing or unable to leave apartments where they raised families and collected memories. Some see no reason to stop providing services as baker, tailor, or sign painter to those of their black and Puerto Rican neighbors trying to eke out a decent life. One or two are African-American Jews. Together this remnant struggles to keep open the last synagogue in the neighborhood, helped by a Jewish cop, black youth, and Puerto Rican clergy. The Miracle of Intervale Avenue tells their remarkable story.
1983, 65 mins.
Let’s find this video, SJ.
The Miracle of Intervale Avenue:
New York’s Bronx
This sensitive exploration searches for the secrets of a once thriving Jewish community in the South Bronx that somehow continues despite the decay that surrounds it. The film provides a warm nostalgic sense of the vitality of what was the Jewish Bronx. What makes this film so moving is the cast of expressive, complex and moving characters.

The United States must remain in Iraq until it can gain victory there, three Democrats told the Western Slope lobbying organization Club 20 on Saturday.
Iran, meanwhile, can be brought to heel with United Nations sanctions, said the three.
U.S. Sen. Ken Salazar and U.S. Reps. John Salazar and Mark Udall said the war in Iraq has to be won against what Ken Salazar termed a “radical jihadist movement” that continues to fight a guerilla war against the Iraqi and coalition forces.
“There are some very tough times ahead of us on the ground in Iraq,” he said. Iraq’s neighbors, such as Turkey, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and others also need to contribute to stabilizing the country, he said.

Spent half the night filling the wine bottles. :jason::jason::jason::jason:
FLASH BACK:
Kerry proclaimed that “There are four real questions that matter to Americans, and I hope you’ll get the answers to those questions because the American people deserve them.
“My question to President Bush is why did he rush to war without a plan to win the peace? Why did he rush to war on faulty intelligence and not do the hard work [what “hard work”?] necessary to give America the truth?
Why did he mislead America about how he would go to war? [What does this mean?] Why has he not brought other countries to the table in order to support American troops in the way that we deserve it and relieve a pressure from the American people?”
In other words, absolutely nothing separates Kerry from Bush’s positions on Iraq except he claims he would have lied more efficiently and somehow wheedled the UN and NATO into giving support. This business about getting the Allies on board, you may recall, was Howard Dean’s posture back in the spring.
So Bush, a lousy president but ludicrously over-demonized, is bracketed by a Democratic candidate, Al Gore, who was calling for immediate war on Saddam back in 1999, flanked by all the neo-Cons who subsequently flocked to Bush, and by Kerry who now says he holds exactly the same position, rationalized by the same neo-Cons.
If the war on Iraq bothers you, a vote for Kerry is a vote thrown away.
I ate four. No gut bombs. :omg:
arghhhhh there’s going to be nobody worth voting for :growl:
they’re yummy! 😛
If I have to vote for any existing congress person for presidork I will vote with my 30-06:jason::jason::jason:
I bought mini-burgers. Does White Castle have a JUMBO size?
Okay, Oswald. :omg:
Whitecastle ————–>delayed action belly bombs.. the first cluster bomblets…:yuck::yuck::crap::crap:
no…all of their burgers are miniburgers.
No… Whitecastle bomblets one size fits all.:yuck::yuck::yuck::crap::crap::crap:
Look, they’re not packed with good healthy stuff or any of that garbage, but they taste like heaven!
http://www.kboo.fm/listen :omg:
It would seem that nothing that tastes good is good for you 😮
Does Whitecastle have a franchise in Colorado Springs? You seem to know so much about them.
oooo, music
both of the neighborhoods where I lived in the Bronx had White Castles, I couldn’t get away from them 😀
No..Spent a lot of time in Columbus Ohio.. They are all over the place there :yuck::yuck::yuck:
You can buy them frozen at the Kroger too.:yuck::crap:
Has the mini-burger only schtick been that way since 1921?
Yeah. White Castle bailed from the Bronck Farms region and set up headquarters in Columbus, OH. I read it on the package.
I bought mine frozen at Walgreens Pharmacy. In the frozen food section. First time I have seen them in P-town.
I don’t think White Castle have changed their burgers much since they first opened. They’ve added cheeseburgers and added many other things to the menu, but the size has always been the same – at least that’s what my dad told me. It’s the way people like them and they love buying huge quantities of them.
The frozen ones are pretty decent, esp. if you add some ketchup under the bun before you nuke them…
Mini burgers before there were mini burgers.
they have really great french fries and shakes also
I like independent hamburger joints, myself. There are a few left around here.
I think Whitecastle designed them as a party snack not something you were supposed to eat for a meal..:yuck::yuck::crap::crap:
the “real” hamburger (not fast food burgers)
seems to be relegated to diners around here.
Carls Junior’s … Not a bad burger. not cheap though.
Fred, tell that to people who sit there and eat six, eight burgers in one session…that’s pretty common from what I’ve seen
New sheets are up..
You have to eat six if you want to feel like you had something to eat.
