Sunday Boobleheads

First off, though it took them double overtime to do it, I’m quite sad to report that Syracuse has now extended the longest losing streak in its 117 year football history to 11 straight games.  And the only team they beat last year was Buffalo, which shouldn’t really even count.   So, I reckon it’s time to start looking ahead to basketball season.  Anyhow…

Today on Press the Meat, it’s a Dicksclusive, as Timmy Potatohead trots out Darth Cheney.  The only reason to watch these two assholes is to try and spot the lizard crawling arounnd inside Cheney’s nostril.

Speaking of lizards, Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer has the Lizard Queen herself, Condi Rice, as well as Governor Potatohead (no relation to Timmuh), George Pataki (musta been desperate for guests), and Chuck Schumer.   Hmm.  No reason to get out of bed so far.

Condi slithers on over to Fux News Sunday (whoopdie-doo, whoopdie-doo), as does Howard Dean, who’s pretty much always worth watching, though I don’t know if he’s worth wading through the shit that is Fuckface Chris Wallace and the presidential, helmet-headed, Lizard faced concubine.

ABC is dead to me, so fuck This Weak with George Snufalufagus.  Really.

Lizard bitch will also be on CNN’s Late Emission, as will John Kerry, Afghanistan’s ambassador to the US, Said Jawad, Mark Malloch Brown (UN deputy secretary-general, which I think is a lot like being the #2 Al-Quaeda guy, or assistant manager at Friendly’s), Mowaffak al-Rubaie, the Iraqi national security adviser (which is like being the bus-boy at Friendly’s), John Miller, who is the assistant director of the FBI for public affairs (what, the director of PR for the FBI is busy?), and Brian Jenkins of the RAND Corporation, who is billed as a “terrorism expert,” and who I’m guessing is an asshole.  Don’t really know – just a hunch.

Later, on 60 Minutes, oh boy, it’s Katie Couric, doing a story on Kristie Whitman saying the air was just fine around the WTC after 9/11, which she of course is selectively remembering these days.

So, the best thing to do is sleep in, and get ready for some football (none of which is on ABC), and while their showing that shit peice of propaganda, there’s a brand new season of the Simpsons (not not manage Family Guy and American Dad) to watch.  So have a good Sunday.

Well, Disney and ABC are certainly taking a lot of flak over their Mickey Mouse piece of 9/11 propaganda.  Maybe they’ll edit it, maybe they’ll drop it.  Whatever.  The fact is they wanted to crank out this piece of crap and lie to the world, they proudly promoted it to wingnuts, and they really shouldn’t be allowed to have a broadcast license.  So, screw ’em – whatever they do, they’re dead to me.  But if they don’t pull this crap off the air (and from the reviews out there, it’s not only bullshit, but a lousy movie on top of it), maybe we should start mailing dead mice (only those who died of natural causes, of course) to Disney.  And send a few AAR’s way, too, just to let ’em know we haven’t forgotten them, either.

And so, we come to the end of another week. This week, the Iowa Hawkeyes come to town to kick the cr…um, I mean, to take on the Orange (they used to be the Orangemen, but last season they changed it to just plain Orange – perhaps they felt it was too difficult to call the women’s tames the Orangewomen, and the men’s teams Orangemen; beats me, I just wish they’d get rid of that stupid Orange plushie mascot, who belongs in an episode of CSI – as the victim. After losing ten football games in a row, maybe they ought to put the “men” back in). Now, being too cheap to pay to see a team that basically sucks, I’d normally watch the game on the teevee.

Unfortunately, the game is being broadcast on the Goebbels Broadcasting Company, and I’ve decided to boycott them from now on. Since there’s not a hell of a lot I really care to watch on GBC anyway (I’ll miss Boston Legal, but I never actually watched Desperate Housewives, and I downloaded the first season of Lost, but never actually got around to watching it), it isn’t that much of a loss. And since I’ll probably be too disgusted with SU watch them stink up the dome, I’m reckon better off with the radio, anyway.

Walt RovenySince it’s actually Disney that’s calling the shots, I’m gonna have to boycott everything else related to them, too, which will be more difficult. No more ESPN (gonna be tough come basketball season), not to mention the Disney Channel (well, that shouldn’t be too tough), SOAPnet (a loss I will endeavor to endure), ABC Family Channel, A&E Television Networks (37.5% equity, which includes A&E, The History Channel – too bad, I like that one), The Biography Channel, History International, and A&E International), Lifetime Entertainment Services (50% equity; includes Lifetime Television, Lifetime Movie Network, Lifetime Real Women, Lifetime Radio for Women, Lifetime Home Entertainment), and E! Networks (39.6% equity; includes E! Entertainment Television, The Style Network).

As for movies, no more Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Miramax Films, Hollywood Pictures, Buena Vista International, Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Buena Vista Home Entertainment International, and Buena Vista Theatrical Group. And of course, none of their publishing holdings, radio, websites (including NFL.com – bummer), you name it.

Disney – you’re dead to me now (and not just you, Walt, but the whole damn bunch of you).

If you want to let ABC know what you think of their propaganda, use ThinkProgress’ e-mail form. Have a good Friday. Oh, and if you’re out in LA, go and see Marc at the UBC Theatre tonight! You can make fun of the stitches on his face.

Oh, and Happy Birthday Sean!  :cake:

OK, anybody out there running a Shoutcast server on linux, let me know.  I have the damn thing set up and configured, and I can browse to the admin page, but damned if I can get any music out of it.  It just says the server is currently down.  There’s got to be something simple, but damned if I can figure it out.  I suppose I could just run it on a Windows box (it would be a lot easier), but I’m trying to get some quality linux time in.  I figure if we’re gonna get this Seditionists Radio going, we need to have broadcast source.  One nice thing is that, with Shoutcast, you can not only set up a server to broadcast on-demand mp3 (and it keeps people from downloading the mp3 files – though of course there are ways around it), but other servers can be set up as relays, so we could all share a little bit of our bandwidth, all with our existing Internet connections.  That’s assuming we actually had enough listeners where we’d have to worry about it.  I suppose that’s a little bit premature, since we don’t actually have anything to push out to the masses, but, what the hell.  If we build it, they will come.  Anyhow, have a good Thursday.

Holy shit, Wednesday caught me by surprise this week.  I didn’t get my reading done for class, or anything.  So, I reckon I’d better see what I can get to before I have to go to class this afternoon.  Looks like no fun for Siggy today.  You guys carry on.

So, the holiday weekend is over, effectively ending the summer vacation season.  We did the typically American thing yesterday – we went to the Chinese Buffet (fortunately, there were none of Marc’s “Fat Marshals” – or Jim Earl – to hover disapprovingly around the sneeze guards, scowling). Poor Siggy didn’t get to have much fun, though I did take him for a walk through the woods and over to the school near my in-laws’ house.  He had to stay on the leash, though, since there were a bunch of damn people around, and you can never tell how they’ll react to an 80 pound dog running full speed in their direction (not that he really cares about them – he’s mostly oblivious to humans, unless they come to the house).

So, anyway, today is back to work for those with jobs, and a day of reckoning for me, as I scamble to make up for all the shit I should have gotten done the last week or so.  And if Siggy doesn’t get out to the park today, he’s liable to nose-poke me to death.

See ya.

Hey, it’s Labor Day, so try not to do any today, of you can help it.  And Happy Birthday to my stepson, Reuben.  :cake:He hits the big 23 today.  I hate to break it to him, but it’s all downhill from here.  Be careful out there today.

Yes, that’s right, I said booblehead.

There’s actually a chance at a worthwhile Press the Meat today, as Timmy hosts a “live debate” between creepy, child molester-looking, man-on-dog, Senator Ricky “poopy pants” Sanatorium and his opponent Bob Casey. All I can say to my neighbors to the south is, “hey, Santorum? What the fuck were you people thinking?”

Over at Faze the Nation, Bob “thank god it isn’t Katie, at least” Schieffer hosts the man who got my vote (and a few of yours, too, I bet) in the Democratic primary in 2004, Doctor Governor Howard :omg: Dean, plus Senator Mitch “the prick” McConnell.

Over at ABC, George Snufalufagus boasts an “exclusive” with Senator MBNA, Joe Biden (wow, that musta been a tough get), who is supposedly gonna give Rummy and Cheney a stern talking to. I tell ya what George, fuck Biden (much as it pains me to say that about a fellow SU alum); why doncha get Mike Malloy on to do the job instead. Now there’s a show I’d actually get up and watch in real time. Then George goes to Rhode Isalnd, and looks at the race between “moderate” (until it comes to standing up to dubya) Lincoln Chafee (about whom, Ann Coulter said, “they shot the wrong Lincoln“) and his wingnut primary opponent, Stephen “Daffy” Laffey. Last I saw, Laffey was up big in this race. Let’s hope so, since Laffey has about a zero percent chance of winning in the general election.

Over at Fux News Sunday, we’ll get a chance to see who’s uglier – Chris “Fuckface” Wallace, Chuckie Schumer, or Liddy “No wonder Bob needs Viagara” Dole. I think Liddy’s title is safe, here. Plus, it’s another faux moderate, Arlen Specter (again, PA, what the fuck?), and Joe Gibbs, who’ll be on to tell us if his son is as big an asshole as George Allen’s son is.

On Late Emission with the Wolfman, it’s, oh, well it’s CNN, Who gives a shit? Spend your time looking for Mr. FK over on MSNBC instead.

Later, on 60 Minutes, it’s a rerun of Ed Bradley’s double segment with Tiger Woods , plus Bob Simon talks to some paramedics who went to help out after the earthquake in Pakistan. Hopefully they haven’t been tossed into one of our gulags by now.

Enjoy your day, ‘cuz next week, I have a feeling it’ll be an “all nine-one-one Sunday,” no matter what channel you’re tuned to.

A bit soggy up this way today, as we’re getting what’s left of Ernesto.  Later on tonight, we get to see if the SU football team is gonna suck as bad this year as they did last year (the worst team in my lifetime, and I go back to some pretty shitty teams, indeed).  Hopefully you’re high and dry (well, high, at least) whereever you’re at.

It’s Friday, the first day of September, and the start of a three-day holiday weekend for most people, as we (supposedly) celebrate Labor. And Bill and Hillary will be visiting my fair city today, to attend the NY State Fair. They first started coming here back when Bill was still president (and before Hillary was “officially” a candidate for Daniel Patrick Moynihan’s Senate seat). It was kinda cool to have the first family in town for a few days, I must say (yes, they even dragged Chelsea here). I know, I know, Bill Clinton was no liberal (why do the wingnuts continue to insist that he was?), and apart from being a disappointment in lots of respects, some pretty shitty things were passed during his tenure (NAFTA, Welfare “Reform,” and the completion of media deregulation begun under Reagan, among others). But, say what you want about Wild Bill, he is one helluva great speaker, and when he visited other countries, he never made me feel embarassed to be an American. I think he was the best Republican since Eisenhower, at least. Plus, he had Buddy, whose picture we used to have above Siggy’s food bowl.

And Hillary. Ah, I had such high hopes for Hillary. Before she announced her candidacy, she travelled all around these parts – the parts that those of you from downstate NY have sorta kinda vaguely heard about (my favorite, I think, was in the movie Tootsie, where they come up here to visit Jessica Lange’s father in Syracuse – which consists of a barn out in the woods :rofl2:), and she listened to what people had to say, and – amazingly enough – she didn’t say anything. She just listened. When she finally did run for the Senate she came back, and she started talking about jobs and families and education and all the things that she’d been listening to everyone talk about. All the things that were important to us regular folks up here, in one of most economically hard-hit areas of the country (at that time, especially, with manufacturing having all but deserted us).

Poor Rick Lazio never had a prayer. Hillary not only stomped him down in NYC, but she won quite handily up here at the barn in the woods, too. All Lazio’s campaign could muster was that Hillary was a carpetbagger, but what he didn’t quite get was that, up here, Long Island might as well be Chicago, or Arkansas – or Mars. Hillary spoke our language, and seemed to know who we were. And a Republican that can’t win in Upstate NY aint going very far.

But, well, Hillary’s turned out to be even more of a disappointment than Bill was. Until pretty recently, it wouldn’t have taken much to turn my opinion around. All she had to say was, “I was wrong. I handed that madman the keys to the country, and he drove us off a fucking cliff, and I never should have done it, and I’m sorry.” But, no, she polls, and panders, and parses, and I don’t know what it is she’s trying to do, but I don’t want her doing it to me. I’ll vote for Tasini in the primary, and if she’s still way ahead come election time, I’ll vote for Howie Hawkins (and if it’s gonna be close, then I’ll hold my nose and vote for her on the Working Families Party line, because principle, schminciple, these bastard Republican Bush enablers need to go – then we can work on the Democraps).

So, what the hell. I’ll still take Bill and Hillary over dubya and Laurathorazine. But I’d rather see Marc and Mishna.

Anyhow, go out there and get this Friday over with, and get crackin’ on the weekend.
