Damn, what a dream I had last night. I dreamt that the Democrats crushed the Republicans in the election, and took both the House and the Senate. And Donny Rumsfeld had to resign. And that there’s gonna be a woman as Speaker of the House, and a guy that called Dick Cheney an SOB is gonna be Chairman of the House Ways and Means Committee (and get this, he’s a black guy!). And another black guy is gonna be Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee! And Teddy Kennedy is gonna be Chairman of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions!
Crazy, huh?
Happy Veteran’s Day to all you Vets out there. And to everybody serving in the military, I hope you’ll be able to come back home and become Veterans soon.

+Saint of the Day+
Menna of Egypt (MAROUNI)
(also known as Marcus, Maron))
Mennas was probably born in Egypt,or maybe Beirut Cedars, and flourished there. All the earliest representations of him agree in showing him accompanied by two camels, so he may well have been a camel-jockey before getting gang-pressed into the Roman army. He was also a crypto-Christian. When his legion reached Phrygia the persecutions under Diocletian began. Mennas deserted his post in order to escape death and hid in a mountain cave.
But as more and more Christians were put to death under Diocletian’s edicts, Mennas decided he too ought to make a public profession of his faith. He carefully chose his time. During the annual games in the arena at Coyotian in Phrygia, Mennas suddenly appeared before the spectators and announced that he was a Christian. The crowd collapsed after intense laughter, but he stuck to his guns, and so he had to get the hell out of Dodge to avoid being put to death by beheading. He ran to the shore, caught the first boat, and sailed away to an unknown fate, or he may have become a seller of brushes in the New World. His shrine was initially found near the pools of Jerusalem.
This basic story has been expanded and embellished with preposterous marvels and the fame of the hero as one of the so- called soldier-saints grew in proportion: the little terracotta bottles (ampullae) for water from his shrine, brought away by pilgrims, have been found in all countries bordering the Mediterranean, and now the US and Canada.
That shrine is now at Karm Abu Maroun, southwest of Alexandria and Lake Mareotis, on the edge of the Libyan desert, where the ruins of the church and ancillary buildings have been laid bare, and many tokens of the cultus of Saint Mennas found. He has been popularly looked on as one of the great saints of Egypt down to today.
Saint Mennas is portrayed as a young knight with a halberd. A 6th century ivory includes two camels in the piece. Sometimes he is shown with his hands in the air and a gleeful smile on his face. He was greatly venerated in the Middle Ages. Patron of wandering peddlers {including Jewish peddlers} and those falsely accused. Thus it is written.

[Buhle’s] engagement with Jewish culture deepened in New York City during the 1960s radicalization, when some of the elder statesmen of the left who had fled persecution in Eastern Europe and Russia recounted their past to this up and coming scholar. Anybody who passed through Union Square Park on 14th Street during this period would still be able to see clusters of mostly Italian and Jewish trade unionists arguing the fine points of anarchism or socialism.
I think I’ll start posting BS about queer culture on here. I’m sure it’ll make for interesting reading. :nana:

The world of the Yiddish-speaking radical of the Lower East Side of the 1920s or 30s was very remote from the Zionist and neoconservative mindset of the higher-ups in the Bush administration. These are the “Jews without mercy,” as Earl Shorris described them in his 1982 book of the same title. They worship at the altar of American power, despise the minorities who would take advantage of affirmative action, and take pride in Israel’s ability to dominate the Arabs. The clash between Yiddish and Hebrew symbolizes the gulf between these two worlds. Buhle recounts a forum at the CUNY Graduate Center in 1999 where Tony Kushner, author of “Angels in America,” affirmed his longing for “Yiddishkayt.” while novelist-critic Cynthia Ozick, speaking from the same platform, condemned Kushner’s statement as an exercise in nostalgia at best, and at worst liberal betrayal of Israel and Zionism.

Dowd: Voters sick of ‘macho politics by marshmallow men’
The 2006 vote demonstrates that Americans are fed up with political posturing, asserts Maureen Dowd in a commentary that will appear in Saturday’s edition of The New York Times.
“This will be known as the year macho politics failed – mainly because it was macho politics by marshmallow men,” Dowd writes. “Voters were sick of phony swaggering, blustering and bellicosity, absent competency and accountability. They were ready to trade in the deadbeat Daddy party for the sheltering Mommy party.”

Pentagon to Reevaluate Strategy and Goals in Iraq
The Pentagon is conducting a major review of the military’s Iraq strategy to determine “what’s going wrong and should be changed” to attain U.S. objectives in the war-torn country, the nation’s top general said yesterday.
The chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine Gen. Peter Pace, initiated the review this fall after starkly deteriorating security in Baghdad led commanders there to rule out any significant cut this year in the level of U.S. troops in Iraq — now at about 145,000 — according to senior defense officials and sources.

Mattachine Society
The Mattachine Foundation was organized in Los Angeles in 1950 by Harry Hay and seven other gay men. All these men were either communists or radicals. The group was named after the Mattachines, a medieval troupe of men who went from village to village advocating social justice. In 1951, the organization began sponsoring discussion groups to raise consciousness among gay men. For many, this was the first time in their lives they could share their feelings and experiences openly. In the early 1950’s, these discussion groups began to spread. They even began to organize social events and fundraisers, as well as publish newsletters. In 1951, Mattachine adopted two major purposes: 1) It called for a grassroots effort to challenge anti-gay discrimination and 2) It called for building a positive homosexual community and culture. Besides raising consciousness through its discussions and publications, Mattachine began to legally challenge the entrapment of gay men by law enforcement officials and even began to poll political candidates on gay rights issues.

Democrats may use probes to force policy shifts
WASHINGTON — The new Democratic leaders in Congress are likely to move quickly to use their investigative powers as a key lever to force changes in the administration’s policies on the Iraq war and domestic spying, according to congressional staff members.
Despite the conciliatory language this week between the White House and the new leaders of Congress, Democrats expect to launch probes into the administration’s use of prewar intelligence on Iraq and its domestic wiretapping program and into Vice President Dick Cheney’s energy task force, current and former aides said.
The goal, they said, will be to force changes by shedding light on problems with the existing policies.

Lawmakers Who Won’t Be Missed
By Colbert I. King

The Democratic takeover of Congress offers the prospect of relief from amendments, or riders, that House Republicans loved to attach to the D.C. budget.
Under Republican rule, Congress banned the District from spending locally raised tax dollars on free needle-exchange programs to curb the spread of HIV — even though local jurisdictions in half the states provide such services. A Republican Congress also extended a federal restriction on abortion funding to all federal and local money spent in the District. And it adopted a rider that prevented the city from using its own money to lobby for voting representation in Congress. One Republican-led appropriations subcommittee even added a provision to the city budget imposing federal penalties on D.C. children caught smoking.
Under House GOP rule, efforts were made to repeal the District’s law prohibiting residents from possessing firearms. Another Republican measure would have allowed residents, except for convicted felons, to own handguns and keep them in their homes. The city was spared that fate only because the House ended up scrapping the national gun bill to which those amendments would have been attached.
Tuesday night’s election hardly catapulted the District to the Promised Land. But the regaining of Congress by Democrats may have brought the city some relief from odious Republican budget riders and a welcome respite from the District-bashing in vogue in certain quarters on Capitol Hill for the past 12 years.

Elections Are Not Over In Nine House Districts
6 GOP Incumbents Hold Slim Leads
By Philip Elliott
Associated Press
Saturday, November 11, 2006; Page A08
Nine House races remain without winners after Tuesday’s election, with state officials not rushing to certify the results.
Seven races involve Republican incumbents in tight contests to keep their seats, but in only one is the Democratic challenger ahead. In Connecticut, Democrat Joe Courtney leads Rep. Rob Simmons by a scant 166 votes. Almost a quarter of a million votes were cast. Recounts were scheduled through the weekend in 64 towns.

Hey, Cnick, your IP address finally changed, what with your Internet trouble, I reckon. You should get an dynamic IP address. Here’s what I use. There are others, but I’ve had this one for a long time now. If you want to shell out money, you can use your own domain name. But what I did was, since I already had the free one, I just registered seditionradio.com and have it resolve to the free no-ip domain name.

It’s free, man. You just run a little client on your computer that occasionally checks the IP address, and updates the records if it changes. For free, you get a choice of subdomains to pick from. For instance, I use “sytes.net” So, you could be, say, cnick.sytes.net, and no matter what your IP address is, that will always work.
need to make sure I don’t need to change something in the router now that IP changed

November 12, 2006
AL-QAEDA’S chief in Iraq used an audio message posted on the internet yesterday to threaten that the terror network would “blow up the White House”.
“We announce today the end of a phase of the jihad [holy war] and the start of a new one … to usher in the project of an Islamic caliphate and restore Islam’s glory,” Abu Hamza al-Muhajer said in the message.
“We swear we will not rest from our jihad … before blowing up the filthiest house, dubbed the White House,” he said.
The authenticity of the message could not be independently confirmed.
snip
Muhajer slammed US President George Bush, gloated over his Republican Party’s defeat in midterm elections widely attributed to US involvement in Iraq, and said US forces occupying the country were preparing to cut and run.
“The enemy is now teetering under the blows of the mujahideen … and preparing to pack up and flee,” he said.
“I thank the most stupid and worst president America – the country of slaves and drugs – has ever had for giving us this great historic opportunity.
“The American people have taken the first step on the right path in order to get out of their impasse and have started to realise the treachery of their President and his subordination to Israel, voting for a measure of reason in the latest elections.
“I tell [Bush]: don’t hurry to flee like your defence minister [Donald Rumsfeld, who resigned on Wednesday]. We have still not quenched our thirst for your blood.”
If you go to http://seditionradio.com, you’ll see that it actually kicks over to http://pjs.sytes.net:8888/. It’s what made it possible for me to access my home network from DC this summer (I was able to download my recorded TV from my ReplayTV’s, check the e-mail on the MS Exchange server that I run, and get files off of my home computer, and even configure the wireless router when my stepdaughter came to visit, so she could use our wireless network).

U.S. Border Patrol agents chasing suspected drug traffickers on the Texas border allegedly crossed into Mexico and had a brief standoff with Mexican police before peacefully returning, Mexican authorities said Friday. Jose Luis Delgado, a police officer in Guadalupe, about 25 miles southeast El Paso — said he and two colleagues encountered some U.S. Border Patrol agents on Mexican territory.
He said the Mexican police responded Thursday with guns drawn to a report that a marijuana-laden pickup had been abandoned in the Rio Grande. “When we arrived (the U.S. officials) drew their weapons,” Delgado said
Border Patrol spokesman Rogelio Garcia confirmed that U.S. agents seized about 300 pounds of marijuana from the truck but couldn’t say whether the vehicle was on the Mexican side of the border because the matter was “still being investigated.”
Medrano said he couldn’t corroborate the alleged incursion because “when state officials arrived, U.S. Border Patrol agents were on the U.S. side.” The matter was under investigation, he said.

The Architect Speaks by Time White House Correspondent Mike Allen.
After maintaining a relentless optimism in the face of ominous polls, Karl Rove tells TIME why Republicans wound up taking a bath on Election Night.
At the White House senior staff meeting in the Roosevelt Room at 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Chief of Staff Josh Bolten thanked Karl Rove for his hard work in the elections, and the group around the big table burst into spontaneous applause. It was a much-needed moment of cheer for Rove, the President’s chief strategist, after Republicans lost the House and were headed toward the same fate in the Senate in midterm congressional elections that turned into a blue rip tide of voter ire.
“The profile of corruption in the exit polls was bigger than I’d expected,” Rove tells TIME. “Abramoff, lobbying, Foley and Haggard [the disgraced evangelical leader] added to the general distaste that people have for all things Washington, and it just reached critical mass.”
Exit polls showed heavy discontent with the course of the war, and Bush announced the departure of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld the next day. But Rove took comfort in results of the Connecticut Senate race between the anti-war Democratic nominee, Ned Lamont, and Sen. Joseph Lieberman, who ran as an independent after losing the Democratic primary over his support for the war. “Iraq mattered,” Rove says. “But it was more frustration than it was an explicit call for withdrawal. If this was a get-out-now call for withdrawal, then Lamont would not have been beaten by Lieberman. Iraq does play a role, but not the critical, central role.”

The other day I heard somebody complaining that they had played Kung Fu Fighting at a game because it was racially insensitive so you reminded me I have to look up the words.
Ever meet a guy named Hale Milgrim?
Thanks for the Dowd.
:yippee:have i mentioned yet tonight how much i hate these people?
Our work has just begun:

Here are some lyrics in “Kung Fu Fighting” that Asians may have found offensive:
They were funky China men from funky Chinatown
They were chopping them up and they were chopping them down
It’s an ancient Chineese art and everybody knew their part
From a feint into a slip, and kicking from the hip
Everybody was kung-fu fighting
Those cats were fast as lightning
In fact it was a little bit frightning
But they fought with expert timing
There was funky Billy Chin and little Sammy Chung
He said here comes the big boss, lets get it on
We took a bow and made a stand, started swinging with the hand
The sudden motion made me skip now we’re into a brand knew trip
Now I am going to have to see if I have a copy and listen. I am sure I have it somewhere in the thousands of records and CDs.
It sounds like a kung fu movie.
well…Im not giving up Kung Fu Fighting for any PC bullshit….I dont see what is racially insensitive there except the names…and actually those are sorta like the asian names around…so, whatever. We always thought it was cool…and the Kung Fu movies were certainly empowering to the asian community…werent they?
I love the song anyway…
:banana:disco!
:pup:the car wash yeah!!!!!!
hey i know this?
:rant1:hey wait i thought this was the intro to ready to die! this sucks i want to hear some biggie!
Here we go! Fast as lightnong!
I agree with you, Melina. I did phones at state Dem office on Tuesday and someone got upset when I said something about macacas and called Allen Macacawitz.
Sometimes I think I live a little too close to Berkeley.
Chef?
CHEYENNE, Wyo. – A fire in an area of natural gas pipelines southwest of Cheyenne sent flames hundreds of feet into the air Saturday, drawing firefighters from units in Wyoming and Colorado.

===============================
:eek::eek::eek:
I guess the phrase “Funky Chinamen in funky Chinatown” was what was found especially offensive.
:joe:
I dunno…”funky” seemed okay, but “Chinamen…”….
I guess if someone said “those wacky Jews” or “groovy Canadians” it might be offensive in a song also… almost as bad as “those rhythmic black people” Oh well. I did like the song when I was 11, but I’ve grown up since then.
49ers Offend APAs During Halftime Show
At a game that was supposed to celebrate Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Day, the San Francisco 49ers ended its halftime show with the song “Kung Fu Fighting,” offending many Asian Americans.
The halftime performances included Hawaiian conch shell blowers, a Samoan fire knife dancer, Chinese lion dancers, Taiko drummers and martial arts performers. As performers left the field following the martial arts presentation, “Kung Fu Fighting,” a song with offensive lyrics, was played over the stadium loudspeakers.
The 49ers organization said the decision to play the song was made unilaterally and without permission by a contractor of the vendor production company that plans the game day entertainment. The contractor was later fired from working with the 49ers.

I need to find Randy Newman doing Yellow Man.
Thanks, NR. I should start picking up Asian Week again.
49ers are playing games with the city now. Maybe Newsom will tell them where to go. It ain’t like it was a few years ago.
I am not making any judgements here. I like the song we are discussing. I was not offended by the lyrics until someone pointed out how they could be offensive to Asians. I know there are songs I like that people have found offensive–and usually with good reason. Listen to “Some Girls” by the Rolling Stones. There are many more.
yeah…I can imagine how that would feel to them. Rand Newman by the way did satire which I think was a lot different – he was fighting stereotypes in his own way.
The Rolling Stones “Some girls” and even “Brown Sugar” Yeah. And I love the Rolling Stones but they do it also, you’re right. I’m sure there are other songs as well.
“Listen to Roll on, Columbia,” by Woody Guthrie. 2nd verse, I think.
sometimes it’s hard to draw a line and tell when offensive lyrics are satire and meant to poke fun at a stereotype, that’s the problem…. Dire Straits in “Money for nothing” talk about “the little faggot with the earings and the makeup,” but they’re actually making fun of homophobes…that’s what confounds the whole issue
Hoagy Carmichael – Hong Kong Blues
Happy Days Are Here Again! Wonder if Drudge will be playing it this weekend?
:hubba:jenna bush!
I would just like to go on record that I am offended by everything (except for frolicking bananas). Most of all, I am offended by the Notre Dame “Fighting Irish,” because it perpetuates a stereotypical view of the Irish.
That reminds me, I’m all out of beer.
Satire! That is a big part of it. I think the macaca thing was just making fun of that freaking idiot WHO LOST!
Randy’s song was genius. I am not sure where Hoagy was coming from but I don’t think it was maliscious.
I never minded the Irish things but I did not have to suffer the bad times either.
:slap:the guy that designed the “fighting irish” logo was my high school art teacher! he gave me an old record player!
I’ve always hated Notre Dame. I guess I make a pretty shitty Irish Catholic. Of course, I’m only about 63% Irish, and the Catholic stuff never really took.
Oh please- Back in those disco days…when kung fu movies were big in bay ridge with the kids in their T roof cameros and designer jeans, we all would pile out of the clubs at 4 am with the employees and go down to the 24 hour chinese places in chinatown where the cabbies eat on the night shift. My sister and I often could get our cab driver to come in with us and sit at the big table in Wo Hop with the glittery busboys from Studio 54….
Im sure youve grown up since then Suzie , but PHULLEEZE….its not only an homage to an art form that we loved, but its also a bit of a satire…and I have alot of asian friends…including a woman that Ive been close with for over 25 years who’s mom is so chinese that she doesnt speak english and spends all her time in the asian community in chinatown…and, really, Ive never heard anyone take offense to that song….
btw, I had to explain Macaca to Ben today…and he is pretty derned black (his joke was , when we were given a hard time at the Museum of Natural History, it was because we’re white!…meaning all of us…whatever…you had to be there….) and he thought it was silly to take offense at the word as bantered around among us..but serious when used by racists.
Worse also, I think, when someone had a noose and confederate flag in his office….not to mention the deer head.
Hell, we’ve always gotten the irish thing from the russian jewish side of the family who consider us not only shiksas, but drunken stinken Irish…and we dont even drink!
It depends on the spirit….
Allen types are best exposed by ridicule. He messed up and now he is gone. Why he is not more gone is VA is VA.
The whole PC issue is a difficult one. I would never want to offend anyone and have spent a lifetime trying not to. On the other hand sometimes I think braver folks than me have shown that you have to scrape at the wound to start some healing.
Another thing that bothers me is that my side (our side?) sometimes overcompensates and ends up on the short side with the weapons to push our position. The other side has no shame. Where do we draw the lines?
I could never figure out why, wherever David Carradine went, they kept calling him “chinaman.” He never looked Chinese to me.
“Throw a Stuckey’s Pecan Log at a Buddhist”
well, he was Cain…..actually , strangely, my father was filming him today…speaking of Kung Fu fighting…..speaking of drunks….well, his father was a real interesting guy….
But if anything David is more of a deep thinker buddhist sorta guy, and it comes off as sort of monkish….
But then, I think hes been married 7 times or something…so, whatever….the monk life is out.
But really, that show (and I have it on DVD i you want to watch the whole ting PJ) spoke to racism…and it showed quite clearly that a quiet guy could duck and dodge and zen his way aroudn quite a bit…at a time in history when people were very nervous and fighting to survive.
And he was wanted by the law too…right?.
I guess that it caused a stir at the time because Dave wasnt asian and some called for an asian actor to play the part…but he sure did a good job in that role.
You should see whats its like to be on the street with him. he isnt a star so much as a cultural phenomenon….
:tinfoil:pecan logs are the devil!
…and regarding our overcompensation. I think that it takes a pretty humprous and sharp person to get jokes and social commentary of the racial variety right. Im very careful most of the time and think hard about things like that….but ultimately, I know Im not racist and I tend ot call em as I see em…..
I think that the problem with the liberal tendency towards over PC-ness has led to these crazy charges that we want to give the terrorists therapy and a good talking to! It makes us appear so weak and afraid of our own shadows….
This is what made us unable to protect the country…
So, Id suggest that we all worry a little less about an old 70’s silly song and just have some fun.
Asians have a beautiful culture….
But that doesnt mean that disco and kung fu movies of a certain age arent over the top…even now…when we’re all grown up.
I like the song!!
dont get me started on scoundrels embracing buddhism either….There are other logs I could consider hitting some buddhists over the head with!
Buddhism is the last refuge of scoundrels….
Oh, yeah, when you heard the name, Kwai Chang Caine, it sounded Chinese (well, not the Caine part), but when he was walking around from town to town (geneally saying, “I seek wa-ter), he never looked Chinese to me (I mean, he was supposed to be half and half, so he didn’t really need to look totally Asian), but they always pegged him for it. And hated him for it, too. The Chinese were kinda like West Coast Irish. Treated like shit, doing all the hard work, the usual story.
There was a movie with his old man where the Indians staked him out in the sun and sewed his eyes open. Very icky.
Sorry again.
I was listening to Seditionist Radio and that pecan log quote just popped out at me. I loved the Stuckey’s Pecan Log.
Oh, oh! And remember the Twilight Zone with John Carradine, and they had the devil locked up in the monastery? “The Howling Man.”
I hate it when a pecan log pops out at me!
:doh:black people LOVE grape soda!!!!! and fried chicken:paranoid:
I know I love grape soda. Especially Welch’s grape soda.
:pup:me too! i think i am black!:paranoid:
:crap:like how carridine is asian or something
heres my new blog from the myspace
did i mention yet that the rethugs got stomped out? because they did! i was a happy guy wed. morning. it was cute watching all the thugs be so nice to the dems. all of a sudden they want to be “bi-partisan” not that they have been at all during their 12 year stranglehold on the legislative branch. its a new day in america! my favorite quote about the thugs wanting to hold hands and sing kum by ya all of a sudden was from one mike malloy (download his podcast here! http://www.whiterosesociety.org/Malloy.html) “try and hold my hand and dont be surprised if it comes back with a live grenade in it” anyway the dems have said that “impeachment is off the table” which i find offensive because nothing should be “off the table” until the investigations have been conducted. find the truth and if the commander in chief comes out clean THEN you can take impeachment off the table! anyway im gonna go look at some porn now. isnt it great to live in america!

Anyone else want to join in the discussion? Don’t be shy you don’t have to talk the whole time. I would like it if everyone would connect to the live stream tonight, including those who will be onair. Just turn your iTunes volume down when you join the skype conference. If you’d like to chat with the live guests you can join the off air chat by adding me (cnickthomas) as a contact in skype and I’ll add you to the chat. You can begin listening to the live stream at 8:45 P.M. (Central time) 9:45 P.M. (Eastern time) by clicking this link:

nick…if I can stay up I will.
Im tired.
The black kid here likes coffee and caffeine free coke….though neither side of the oreo will eat any real food today….so they will not grow this weekend which is just as well considering that they keep growing out of clothes….
Well the show might be a lot shorter in length if no one shows tonight. It’s cool. I can always just play music I guess. :rofl2:
CNick,
I am probably out for another engagement. I may lurk the chat at the start.
he he he ask ben if he likes fried chicken and grape soda!
hey PJ…Im sure you saw this piece for your bobblehead thread….it figures that Joementum AND McCain get to be the voice of the democratic party now….in Tim’s world anyway….
Listen to Seditionist Radio for a few minutes and listen to PC blow out of the water.
Love it!
well, he does like alot of dark meat and fried stuff like that because those are the less expensive and easier to get foods down where he lives…..but I dont think he goes for grape soda….
Hey PJ, my PDA didn’t seem to be redirected.
Hello everybody
:doh:weird! one time i made fun of my one black friend i was like i dont think we have grape soda but then i found out we did and then in kind of an ashamed way for living up to the stereotype he wanted the grape soda it was pretty funny anyway nap time!
hey PJ, what does that PDA thingy mean? I dont get it….would I have to get a signal or just the Palm TX through the wireless here…? Is it a phone thing or a network thing?…and what does it redirect to?
I grew up around lots of black people and I know lots now and I never found grape soda to be an issue…we uded to drink blue Nehi….and YooHoo….and it came form the spanish bodega…maybe the grape soda thign goes back to the watermelon days…?
Something Im not really old enough or in the right location for.
nick…Im gonna try…but youre an hour earlier so youre talking about 10:45 here…right?
I may not make it…but I want to.
are you on the air yet? I get an error when I try to click on…
I don’t think I’ll be able to join the show tonight, I have a birthday party to go to.
nope it would be 10 your time
I don’t think I’m gonna be able to play tonight. I’ve been up since way early, and am running out of gas fast here.
The mobile device thing is supposed to detect your browser as a mobile one, and then load a theme that’s optimized for that format. Bummer if it doesn’t work. Not sure if it’s just not detecting the browser properly, or if it isn’t loading the theme. Or both. I’ll have to play with it some more.
not on right at the moment
I think Sean was just kidding. I don’t think grape soda is an official stereotype. Now orange soda, that’s a different story.
Hey Nick – I can call in for a bit.
What I need to do is buy the Opera browser for mobiles, it actually does make nearly any site work on a PDA. I used the demo for 30 days, it was great.
:doh:WTF! how come nobody knows about the grape soda!
I think what I’ll do is go live one Saturday a month for Seditionist calls. And do maybe two or three Sat’day night shows of my own show and anyone here that would like to participate can. Four (4) live shows a month for Seditionists is prolly a bit much. N e way, I’ll be live in 30 minutes for anyone who’d like to listen.
well how about blue nehi?
Well I’ll leave it with you guys here. If you want to contact me go to skype chat. Laters ppl.

I wondered what happened when I opened the blog!
I like it. it’s sort of compacted, with name, date, time at beginning of post instead of at end.
the emoticon area has disappeared — which I couldn’t use anyway — so it loads faster.
THE OLD-GROWTH FORESTS OF NORTH EAST TURKEY
Oguz Kurdoglu 1
Old-growth forests (primary forests, little touched by man, with a high proportion of old trees reaching natural maturity) represent one of the most important and threatened of habitats in north-east Turkey. Such forests are of exceptional biodiversity and aesthetic value, as well as being important for erosion control, tourism, etc.
The mountains of north-east Turkey are amongst the most important for nature conservation in Turkey. A combination of varied geology, great altitudinal range and distinctive climate has resulted in a vegetation that is of exceptional importance to nature conservation.
The fauna is also of outstanding importance. Large mammals (e.g. wolf, chamois, brown bear), birds (e.g. Caucasian black grouse, Caspian snowcock, woodpeckers, raptors) and reptiles (e.g. vipers) are well represented.
It is clear that of the total forest cover of over 913 000 ha (excluding protected areas), only 108 571 ha are of an age that can be regarded as old-growth forest, nearly 12% of the total forest cover.

Ancient Olive Trees
Pliny the Elder told of a sacred Greek olive tree that was 1600 years old, while others claim that some of the specimens in the Garden of Gethsemane date back to the time of Jesus[4]. Some Italian olive trees have been credited with an antiquity reaching back to the Roman empire; but the age of such ancient trees is doubtful during growth, and their identity with old descriptions still more difficult to establish.
However, one tree in Crete has been dated as over 2000 years old using tree rings[5]. Another, on the island of Brijuni (Brioni), Istria (which is now mainly in Croatia), a well-known olive tree has been shown to be 1,635 years old (as of 2006)

I just heard the Malloy “rant” against Franken. It wasn’t that harsh. He mentioned that Al was not nice to Mike and family when Malloy was in NYC. ” Why should he care about fellow employees at his company, he is a superstar Also that Al did not think that recent elections had been stolen by Democrats. Likewise, Al believes the official 9/11 account. “But he is entitled to his opinion.” And, yes, Al will quit AAR and then run for the senate. Criticism? Yes. But nothing earthshattering. Nothing poisonous or vitriolic.
