So, the big day has arrived. If the little varmint sees his shadow, it means six more weeks of winter. Otherwise, it means another month and a half of winter. Or something. I never really got the whole thing. Couldn’t they just say, if it’s cloudy it’s one thing, and if it’s sunny, it’s the other? They they could leave the poor little bastid in peace. I guess to celebrate, I’ll go rent that movie with Bill Murray, and watch it over, and over and….

Warming ‘Likely’ Man-Made, Unstoppable
PARIS (AP) – The world’s leading climate scientists said global warming has begun, is “very likely” caused by man, and will be unstoppable for centuries, according to a report obtained Friday by The Associated Press.
The scientists – using their strongest language yet on the issue – said now that world has begun to warm, hotter temperatures and rises in sea level “would continue for centuries” no matter how much humans control their pollution. The report also linked the warming to the recent increase in stronger hurricanes.

China’s Poison for the Planet
Can the environment withstand China’s growing economic might? As one of the planet’s worst polluters, Beijing’s ecological sins are creating problems on a global scale. Many countries are now feeling the consequences.

Climate Report Won’t Signal Policy Change
PARIS (AP) – It was a U.S. government scientist who helped push through the strong language in the upcoming international report on global warming. But that doesn’t signal a change in President Bush’s policy about greenhouse gas emissions.

Surge could see as many as 48,000 extra troops
President George W. Bush’s plan to add 21,500 troops in Iraq could actually result in an increased US military force in Iraq of up to 48,000 troops, a congressional report concluded.
The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office said that when non-combat support troops are taken into account, the actual number of additional troops deployed in Iraq could reach between 35,000 and 48,000.
The CBO said the administration’s “surge” in troops could cost between 20 billion to 27 billion dollars over the first 12 months of the deployment.

Thre is a house hearing on the “surge” on C-span. The generals in charge are political tools just like the rest of the people in the Bush admin .. They have no idea of what they are doing ..

Let me get this right:
It looks like it was two IRAQI generals who were behind the ‘disguised’ soldiers who were let into the compound in Karbala who ended up executing eight american soldiers/contractors.
And the plan is to ’embed’ american troops with Iraqi’s under a split leadership ‘plan’ :reaper: :reaper: :tommygun: :billcat: ❓

Nah, I’m in a level B evacuation zone, so I should be safe until at least next month. Although it has been raining since last night, so you never know. I could be swimming into my place when I get home tonight.
You’re a fine one to talk about climate change, buried under sixty feet of snow.
:rofl2:
Its much easier to breath under 60 feet of snow that 60 feet of water .. :yuck: :paranoid: :fustrate:
I’m trying to grow gills. So far I haven’t had much success, but the scales on my face are coming in nicely.
Hummm …. Kevin just hope you are not related to Condie Lizard Lice 😮 😯
Was just listening to bartcop radio podcast. A woman from Cheney’s office testified in the Libby trial that Russert was the biggest whore in the MSM who got private lunches with Cheney so that he would give favorable treatment to Cheney.
I don’t think Olbermann will be pointing this out :fu:
Good morning…Art, why would Olbermann not point out anything?…I dont think that he would NOT say anything…but then its not like its a newsflash…it would be like him doing a coment to talk about Al Franken and Hillary runnin for seats. Its old news. A link to the president and the VP, thats news but probably more in that they were manipulating the news people, not so much in who they are. They all suck pretty much…and the ones who dont have worked really hard to get to a place and now they have to look at if they should stand up and say something and possibly ruin their careers or not….Keith decided to stand up and it was a good decision because ratings went up.
I actually doubt that Russert thinks any of this is wrong, even though he is so religious….I dont realy see why you thk that Keith has any responsibility to turn on NBC when hes got a platform to address people who are higher ups and really get his voice heard across the board….
Just wondering….
I LOve that Bill Murray movie where he follows his shrink on vacation …was it Richard Dreyfus? What About Bob!
The summer that came out alot of shrinks I knew were not amused at that idea even being floated as a humorous idea….heh…
I think that the idea of the groundhog is that if its cloudy then the winter is gonna be longer….poor groundhog isnt really necessary.
IMus just said that it was Halliburton who pulls him out and tortures him!
Wow…what happened to Florida…..what a mess!
Good morning :joe:
I’m just saying that as much as I give Olbermann credit for some of the best criticism coming from the msm about politics, we still have a long long ways to go for the msm to get outside the box and reform itself from the inside. I can’t think of a bigger story than if anyone from the media to declare itself independent from whoring itself to the WH.
Russert is just such a HHHUUUUGGGEE whore and everyone takes him SSSOOO seriously :slap: :slap: :growl:
did not see his shadow so winter is shorter…huh?
I dont think that everyone takes Russert seriously. I think that after the Bushie years he has lost his cred for everyone except the Faux News crowd…
I hate him but I still look at him if Im around because he is part of bobblehead sundays….I think he is bought and paid for.
But I dont see how this comes back around to Keith…that was my point.
Keith may be working for the M$M but he certainly has taken the biggest chances in criticism of anyone we’ve seen.
Maybe he was able to do it because his show comes off as sorta jokey, but at a point he made a real decision to say whats right, and he didnt look back. If the ratings hadnt gone up he would have been fired….Im sure of it.
I’m pretty sure what it means is nothing. For one thing, it’s not unusual for it to be bright and sunny in my backyard, and near white-out conditions out at the park where we go for walkies at the same time. And, there are groundhogs in both places (or at least woodchucks). But, pretty much, winter lasts the same amount of time in both places.
This is so interesting. I get google crawler alerts all the time now that have a headline from my blog but that go to a spam site that has my headline at the top….clever, huh?
So the spammers are gonna ruin the google grawler by actually using the wording from sites already out there….
I get some spam mail that has words and nams in it of things I search for regularly, like grandpa’s shows and air america radio too….
If I was falsely misdirected I think it would make me so much less likely to look at an ad or buy something.
There is a bankruptcy site right now that has the headline “Air America Saved, Now Let’s Get Marc Maron Back On The Air!”
Which should be spread far and wide, but the bankruptcy part…I can live without
Well, Olberman is about the only traditional media that I watch, other than what C&L serves up for my viewing pleasure. I wonder, though, if the testimony was about O’Reilly, rather than Russert, would Billo get yet another WPITW? It would be interesting to see KO slam a fellow NBC’er. I think Press the Meat and the other Sunday talkies are taken way, way, too seriously by a lot of people. At least, they used to be. Like, when it was Edwin Newman.
Well, winter lasts longer up here as opposed to downtown stamford because we are 200 ft higher…and even up on the level of my house I can have snow for days after it has melted on the lawns across the street….
But yeah, after living in MT where you would leave Livingston where its very windy and sort of dry, head up a pass where there was often a blizzard going on round the top and then cross over to bozeman where it will be just sunny and perfect, I know…it means nothing except that ther poor animal is tortured. But he is a domesticated, zoo animal right? I always hope he’ll bite the keeper guy with the silly hat.
I dunno, it’s pretty easy to make groundhog stew. It’s not like anybody can tell them apart.
We have a nice big woodchuck that likes to hang out in the backyard. He very much enjoys my next door neighbor’s garden (and our nice big leafy weeds).
Here is the groundhog site for anyone with some time to kill…its actually pretty nice
We’ve got an abundance of prarie dogs here in Colorado that would make a tasty meal. If I thought sacrificing a few hundred of them to the cloud-being would bring this nasty winter to an end……. :reaper: :reaper: 🙄
Those huge chucks are everywhere round here…I wonder if theyre good eating! They are so slow that they must not be very tasty.
They line the highway chewing away on whatever they eat. Maybe grass because they are always chewing.
My niece Zia was running in her backyard with the boys and she stepped into a hole really hard…a chuck Hole!!!!…and snapped her leg really badly…ever since then we’re cautious because we think they are trying to kill us.
I think the groundhog is in the same family.
But doesnt this sorta smack of worshipping false idols?
My son’s father was raised in Oklahoma and he was from a family (Now back with them in full force) where the kids were given guns at 8 or 9 years old and anything that they oculd kill the mother would cook up…squirrel dumplings anyone?
I think that game animals dont taste very good, but also deer in particular can carry mad cow….
Oh, I’m sure they’re quite tasty. They grass and lettuce and pretty much anything non-meat, so I’m sure they’re good. We have tons of ’em. They’re so cute. They snooze in the winter, though, so I don’t know who the hell ever got the idea of yanking one out of the ground to predict the weather.
We have roof rats in our neighborhood. It’s still dark so I can’t tell if I can see a shadow from them running along the wires. There is a neighborhood meeting next week to talk about the roof rat problem.
These sonic devices seem to be working. Either that or the poison I put out actually got all of them.
The problem with squirrel is that you have to spit out the goddamn shot pellets.
Yeah, venison has a bit of a gamey taste. Not bad combined with other stuff for sausage, though. These days, I try not to eat meat. Poultry is about it – and I’d be happy to stay away from that, too. The US beef supply is compromised. I don’t even give my dog food with beef in it.
It’s cloudy here. Foggy, even. And a little light snow. So, I think that means it will be winter until spring gets here.
well, with this guy that was also the problem with deer…he was not a good shot and the poor deer would run for an hour with him chasing and shooting. The last one I was a round for made me cry for hours…it was horible.
Here is a fun new craft that is sweeping Japan…and Blue you should look into this as something coming in your area of expertise!!
They are selling kits but so far they are only available in Yen…I dont know how that works.
Krista…there is a product that could suddenly get HUGE as it supposedly has in Japan…that would be a good business if you could become one of the first American inporters of them!
So Killing is okay on a Saturday Morn and teaching other children how to kill is okay but talking Love And Sex is not!
Susan Joy and Nicki Rose will not be back!

Maps being used to calculate flood danger in the United States rely on data that are decades out of date, according to a report that calls for a new national program to remap land levels.
The National Research Council yesterday proposed an “Elevation for the Nation” program to produce up-to-date data.
The most immediate need is for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s flood-mapping program. Those maps are used by mortgage companies and FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program to determine whether property owners should be required to purchase flood insurance.

we eat meat from the health food store unless we go to Boston Market or out to Hibachi Japanese or something…but try to stay away from anything not cruelty free and organix forthe most part.
I also liked the sausage…couldnt eat the steaks and whatever.
My uncle on the cape actually hunts birds with a bow and arrow and has served me quite a few interesting things…I had elk in MT, but it was sorta gamey.
Most of the families I knew out there would buy a whole cow locally and put it in a depp freexer for use throughout the year. At least if its local you have some idea of what the hell has been done to it. MOSt hamburgers at mcdonalds have meat form over 2000 cows…in one hamburger…there is too much mixing and too much meat going through the slaughterhouses…its also just pretty horrible…
Will loves beef even if I say that cows are crying and all…he just does…
and grandpa insists on that omaha beef which he then gives me to make stew….
The chicken thing is pretty disgusting too but at least is accepted as bein dirty and you have to cook the hell out of it.
Im a tofu girl myself…Im happy with veggies and brown rice and tofu…and candy!
Morning all. :joe:
Yeah, I’m not too crazy about the whole killing thing. Although, being pulled down and eaten alive by coyotes doesn’t seem like a pleasant end, either. Just how things work, I’m afraid. The way cattle, chickens, etc, are raised and slaughtered bothers me more. Fortunately, I like tofu. I’m pretty sure it hasn’t turned me gay, yet. If it does, well, I’ll probably get laid more.
Senate Democrats pressed the Republican-controlled Federal Communications Commission yesterday to slap tighter controls on media ownership, public-interest broadcasting and television violence.
Several Democrats on the Senate Commerce Committee warned the agency not to try to relax limits on the number of media outlets one company can own, as the FCC did in 2003 only to have a federal court stay the action. Recent FCC policies on media ownership, said Sen. Byron L. Dorgan (D-N.D.), have been “a spectacular failure.”

Damn, looks pretty dark and dismal down there in Punxsutawney. I always liked that “Gobbler’s Knob.” Sounds somewhat obscene.
Melina, that’s quite a coincidence that you posted that link to fleece doggies. I was just talking to my boss about the Jane urn I made and we talked about making custom urns for people. 8)
ah, the fleece dog book is gonna be available on amazon in a couple of weeks…then the explosion begins!
Melina, then have Will watch and see his meat killed. When 6-ish I watched for dinnerr chickens killed and then I helped clean feathers and all. I only eat what I KNOW I CAN KILL.
I can kill foul — but “beef” has feelings, although birds do too, but Flying Free then killed in flight is far better than a Slaughter House.! … get the films and see the cruel deaths and horrid slaughter of cows.

I think the fleece dogs kits would be a great product to see on the internet….I’ll bet she already has an american supplier if she hasnt even just gone into business herself on Amazon or whatever. Her japanese site just went live in November…
Debeaked and stuffed in a cage no bigger than you are isn’t exactly a wonderful life, either.
well, Dru, he does have a pretty severe anxiety disorder that he was hospitalized for not so long ago…so lets not go overboard…hes a kid and he understands…and I make sure he knows whats going on. But he will have to come to this himself. For health purposes I try to keep a handle on it, but I dont want to terrorize him. He is very sensitive.
I was mostly vegetarian as a kid but my mom is a health food person from the old days. So, all I can do is instill knowledge in him and try to show him that I can cook sorta like the fast food that he loves…but scaring or forcing him will only create a person who doesnt care What I say about anything. It will work out with minimal death, Im sure.
I have so many ideas going right now, I know I can’t possibly do all of them. :smack:
well, yeah…but chickens are more stupid…right? I actually only eat nest eggs and try to only have free range organic chicken. Since I keep birds now, its very hard to eat them.

So, I gave up on the Vista experiment on my laptop. Too much shit that needs new software and drivers (plus, I really need to read the stuff that says, “uninstall this, this, and that before you install Vista” – that’s why I never do upgrade installs). That wouldn’t have stopped me, but it was taking too long to load. So, back to XP. On the bright side, I’m really liking the new Office.
Hey Andy, has Sestak tossed you any work yet?
No not yet. Say now that I’m on the top 20 list do I get any swag? You know a Morningseditionists.com TM keychain…….a penlight…a keychain with a penlight on it?
The older I get, the more difficult it is to disassociate meat from the animal. I just can’t eat it although I will eat shrimp and sometimes fish.
The dog is allegic to mammal meat so she eats chicken and turkey, as do the cats. The vet says you can probably get away with a mostly vegetarian dog but the cats need meat.
BIRDS are not stupid , they deserve free flight just like Cows are precious. Have you seen cows when their babys have died on “the range”. THEY, The Cows have feelings and Morn with Ritual observance … as with other Mammals, especially elephants…
A.I.V.
I use organic human grade dog food…sometimes raw frozen. It ends up costs abotu as much as a starbucks latte each day…or less actually…and Im happy to not give the dogs anything really icky…but its hard to find certified humane raised dogs food…but we stick to poutry too…
Yeah, chickens don’t strike me as being too bright. Still, I’m not sure low IQ should mean a green light to torture the things. I’m not a hunter, but I think there’s something more honest to going out and killing your dinner. Not killing for sport – never could figure out how you could get your jollies by killing something. But at least you appreciate where the food came from if you killed it yourself.
Of course, I’ve seen things where they hook up two plants to some kind electronic sensors, and then somebody comes in and rips one plant to shreds and stomps on it and hollers at it, and then leaves the room, Then when the guy comes back in later, the surviving plant freaks out. Actually saw the same thing with yogurt.
So, I guess they need to develop synthetic food.
Oh, yeah, thanks for pointing that out to me, Andy. Once you hit the top 20 you have to pay $20 monthly membership fees.
Hey Dru, I agree with you…and I keep birds. Some birds are more aware than others…and cows do have feelings…but do they have as much as monkey?
Its not to me to rank all beings, but its easier for me to eat a fish or shrimp than a cow…
Its a slippery slope
Freaks out how?
Yeah, I’ve tried that fancy-schmancy dog food. Pretty expensive (I despise Starbucks, so I can’t cut that out to pay for it). I cooked dog food for a long time, but he got tired of my cooking, so we went back to cans. Have some stuff now that’s good good ingredients, and he seems to really like it. No beef, though.
The little meters go nuts (they measure some sort of electrical impulse). So, they are at a basline, then the guy comes in a commits planticide, and the other plant’s little meters go all crazy. Then he leaves, and it settles down eventually, but when the guy walks back in quietly, the plant’s little meters flip out again. As if it remembers the dude.
I also think boiling things alive is a pretty shitty thing to do. And I think cows have more feelings than, say, Dick Cheney.
PJ, rips one plant to shreds and stomps on it and hollers at it, and always good for a laugh :rofl2:
Actually, you are saying exactly what I said 30 years ago. I ate meat, not just fowl.
Plants are mostly annuals picked at prime growth. (I grew Organic Gardens) Cows can live for 30 plus years. 😉

I always fed my dog table scraps.
re 69: oh my god. That’s amazing!
pjsauter, we can do this all day :rofl2:
I talk/ed to plants due to that … and I believe that plants need to be cared for and find a non-torture way of death. Let’s do it all!
(but I have to let Danu (she has been barking and MAKE tea — I will be back for the debate … I am not running from the debate …

What, lifespan is a criterion for whether to kill something that has feelings? I think I’m going to have to start only eating synthetic motor oil, or just things that died of old age. Unlike what was left of the bunny rabbit I came across yesterday (which wasn’t much, actually). I hope the coyote or whatever it was that got him snuck up from behind and hit him in the head with a rock, first.
And what about trees? I live in a house made of murdered trees! :omg: And they can live a long, long time. Longer than a cow, even.
OK, here’s a quick reference I found to some of this stuff (it’s on the Internets, so it must be true).
Oh, I wasn’t actually debating anything. Sometimes it’s just nice to taunt the Vegans (just the smug ones with no sense of humor who think they’re morally superior). Actually, I would be happy to be a vegan (or at least a vegetarian – I’m already pretty much off mammals), but I’m too lazy.
I pretty much no longer eat cow except I will succumb and have a cheesesteak every now and then. Hey I’m from Philly.
I know a guy who is a fruitatarian. Eats only the fruits of plants.
Don’t know if I can live on trail mix
See, I’m just not organized enough to do that. I need a personal shopper.
I think that measurung plant reaction and equating it with emotion is making a leap. If a plant is cut it responds to limit the damage, whether it is conscious of that damage is quite another issue.
Talking to plants was a great craze for a while. But there could well be an alternative explanation as to why this was beneficial in that a human talking exhales CO2, which plants thrive on. And, of course a talked to plant is probably a plant that gets more attention and thus parasites are eliminated, watering in not forgotten etc.
Well, tomatoes are fruit. And corn. What about rice?
They supposedly respond very well to music, too. I guess the question is, do you need to have specific physiological structures that are identified by humans as being significant to have a soul?
Yes, rice is the “fruit” of the plant.
That is, if you buy into that whole “soul” thing.
OK, if rice counts, I could do that. As long as I can have hot sauce.
It seems like hot sauce would be fine. You can clip herbs without killing the plant. But I may be too liberal.
Awe crap, Maron isn’t calling in today.
No Marc. Damn it’s my day off so I can actually listen.
FUCK, what I went to Jail for in the 80’s (and before and 70′ and…) have come to be. Global Warming Is Here! It is Proclaimed throughout the World by Scientists. This is what was said by we insane ones that most made fun of. WE TOLD YOU SO. PJ I am not a vegen …
… I am animist … All My Organic Gardens I opened by sacred ritual. Ones gate I even did a Dragon from wire … I can truly say plants, trees, and all — except certain humans — are sacred! and thus should be treated with care. But I am not here to discuss being and teaching Wiccan Druidry.

Thanks for that info KP. I can’t imagine his SF gig was that demanding Is there a reason? Sam’s now talking about taking on Conason and Oliphant on Sammy Cam. No Alter or Dickinson. He’s talking about Franken and his bowels being in sync.
I was planning to fix some chicken fried steak and eggs with white gravy and biscuits in honor of the Girls from Texas but now, maybe tomorrow. That was a good reminder up there though that I need to get some more crabs before the season is over.

Well, I do like boiled crawfish and crabs and lobsters. And you know what that means. :reaper:
Hey, I didn’t say you were a vegan. Or even a vegetarian. I’m an omnivore, personally. But, I do believe it’s a bit chauvinistic to value the life of a mammal more than other forms of life. That said, I don’t feel quite the same when I gaze into the eye of a salmon or a chicken (or the eye of a potato, or ear of corn, for that matter), as I do when I look a cow, deer, sheep, etc. in the eyes.
I did, however, have a willow tree in my back yard growing up that I considered a close personal friend.
Maron wasn’t on today? I’m glad I decided to go to the dump, then.
I had a GF once who couldn’t eat anything with eyes like crawfish or whole fish at Asian places. It made for some interesting experiences.
She had a particular problem when she saw chicken feet in a stock I was making once.
I don’t really like to eat food that looks like it did when it was still alive. I also don’t like food that I have to break into in order to eat. I’m not crazy about spinal material and veins, either, come to think of it.
I took my hunter safety course once, but never could bring myself to buy a license and go hunting. Something about the thought of having to field dress Bambi just turned me off.
PJ,
The NY Times has an op-ed about the underground railroad in which Jermain Loguen, the African-American leader of the Underground Railroad in Syracuse is mentioned because he advertised his address in local newspapers as an aid to fugitives.
The piece, by Fergus Borderwich, is about the history of the Underground railroad and of some of the myths and unsung heroes associated with it. He calls the movement the first, biracial example of mass civil disobedience.
I can’t post a link “cause the Damned Times restricts that part of the paper.
oh man, don’t have time to finish reading the posts, but wanted to say

Oh, thanks Sue, I’ll have to check it out. The underground railroad and the abolitionist movement were huge here. Harriet Tubman wound up settling down in the nearby town of Auburn.
Daniel Webster referred to Syracuse as “that laboratory of abolitionism, libel, and treason.” If you’re interested, there’s some information from the SU Library here.
We’ve always been a bit subversive here. It’s where the peacemaker brought together the five nations in peace, establishing the oldest living democracy (a real one, too – women weren’t excuded) in the world. The spiritualist movement was quite big here, too. Also the cradle of the women’s rights movement, and the home of the Syracuse Peace Council, which is one of (if not the) oldest peace and social justice organizations in the country.
We taught the Berrigan brothers how to be rabble rousers (not sure what went wrong with Tom Cruise, though; I guess he didn’t live here long enough).

Chickens, Plants, Cows, Deers, and even Ants … We can even talk about the Psychology of Ants and “Listening to what they are telling when they come in hordes at certain times, and how to “manipulate” them and whatever “they” (the ants) were after without massive slaughter.

Humm…. you learn all sorts of things on this blog.. I still think one needs to investigate if Rethugs are androids or are living creatures .. doing what one may have to them would be a lot more palatable if it were referred to as dismantling them rather than .. well .. At least 14 killed as storms rip central Florida
People missing, hundreds of structures hit; governor declares emergency
LADY LAKE, Fla. – Storms carrying what was believed to be the state’s deadliest tornado in a decade cut a path across four central Florida counties early Friday, killing at least 14 people, damaging hundreds of homes, leaving hundreds homeless and littering fields with clothes, furniture and splintered lumber.
Searchers moved through the four-county region, using spray paint to mark what they found in husks of buildings while residents who had startled out of bed came back to look for friends or loved ones and salvage anything that wasn’t blown apart.

Russia probes smelly orange snow
Russia has flown a team of chemical experts to a Siberian region to find out why smelly, coloured snow has been falling over several towns.
Oily yellow and orange snowflakes fell over an area of more than 1,500sq km (570sq miles) in the Omsk region on Wednesday, Russian officials said.

But Vladimir Gurzhey, an official with the civil defence ministry in Omsk, told the Russia TV channel that the snow had four times the normal levels of iron in it.

Omsk, in western Siberia, is a centre of Russia’s oil industry.

Humans are just a flash in the pan. Haven’t even been around long enough to see if they’re gonna “take” as a species. So arrogant, they think they’re “special.” So stupid, they shit where they live.
Hey, Andy, that was pretty cool. I was waiting for her to write “Go Eagles” in the first part there.
A couple years back, they had some Tibetan Lamas doing a sand Mandala on campus, and you could go and watch them do it, grain by grain. Really quite amazing.

Thanks. All is well here. We had storms and some intense gusts overnight, but nothing like this. The counties affected are over 100 miles northeast of Tampa Bay.
As was mentioned in the article, part of the reason for so many deaths was due to the storms hitting in the middle of the night. Also, since the storm was moving from west to east, it would be more difficult for tornadoes to develop this close to the Gulf, whereas these folks are in the center of the state farther away from the Gulf.

As a wise man once said, watch out where the huskies go, and don’t you eat that yellow snow.

Hi, Druid.

An endorphin filled chicken killed usually quickly … but even if it takes a few it is far better And A hell of alot quicker than the slow arduous kill: packed in trucks and then waiting for the slaughter — regardless the animal — and hearing the killings occur before them…
Sorry, I was being too serious again and forgot why 45 made me Laugh so :rofl2:

Flame Nebula Close-Up
Credit & Copyright: Robert Gendler, Jan-Erik Ovaldsen
Explanation: Of course, the Flame Nebula is not on fire. Also known as NGC 2024, the nebula’s suggestive reddish color is due to the glow of hydrogen atoms at the edge of the giant Orion molecular cloud complex some 1,500 light-years away. The hydrogen atoms have been ionized, or stripped of their electrons, and glow as the atoms and electrons recombine. But what ionizes the hydrogen atoms? In this close-up view, a dark lane of absorbing interstellar dust stands out in silhouette against the hydrogen glow and actually hides the true source of the Flame Nebula’s energy from optical telescopes. Behind the dark lane lies a cluster of hot, young stars, seen at infrared wavelengths through the obscuring dust. A young, massive star in that cluster is the likely source of energetic ultraviolet radiation that ionizes the hydrogen gas in the Flame Nebula.

Blogger, Jenn, I can’t disagree about the sea levels but I must point out that there are NO rethugs in my neighborhood, (at least none who will admit it.)
Perhaps we need to go to Holland and check out seawalls and dykes.
Can I go, too? I’d like to check out the shops in Amsterdam. :bong:
Whatever might you mean. PJ :bong:
hey everyone!
Hey Melina!
hows everything going?
Dude, I didn’t even think of watching Groundhog’s Day until right now reading the blog. Wow.
GNC is going to start this Sunday… yeah. Super Bowl Sunday. Oh well. So…
8 pm (CENTRAL TIME) THIS SUNDAY NIGHT
Okay Melina, I have to work this weekend which kind of sucks.
Hey Kristin! GNC this Sunday!
Yep, and I got a teacher to advise me for an independent study class re: my 24 podcast. WOO-HOO! Someone takes it seriously!
I need to get more listeners though.. I think I’m plateuing
I have a real dilemna with 24, it’s on at the same time as Heroes.
What specifically is the independent study?
Andy, I have the media center saving both, but I havent gotten into heros at all…I keep trying but maybe I have to watch it on DVD all in a row.
I can only watch one or the other, I can’t record one because I have to move the antenna when i flip between stations.
That is so cool Kristen. Ill be there for gnc….Doesnt the superbowl start at 9PM est or some such? I cant even remember. I hopefully will watch some superbowl and root for …who?…I used to really like Chicago …but Ive lost track.
Maybe the commercials are worth it, …I missed them all on the TOday show this week…usually they end up showing them all pretty much.
Who is the musical guest?
how about replay AV for your computer…or how about a torrent of one or the other…I know that they will be posted!
HOW about an a/b switch…have you got cable??
Survivor starts next week!!!!
If I can download that would be great. I never really checked to see if episodes were online. No I don’t have cable otherwise I would just record it and watch it later.
Seoul 1945 is on. Back in an hour.
SueP aka mom – DANNY is a repug and he lives right around the corner from you. Lucky you.
Andy and I were just talking about Amsterdam. We’re thinking of a long weekend. Wanna take Nina 😀
Actually I would rather you come with :bong:
well, the torrent people out there do have season 1 of heros, which means that they will have the new ones soon.
They also now have ipod video torrents of whole seasons od shows.
Independent study is just so I do the work on my podcast but I get class credit for it to put towards my degree. I work with a teacher who advises me and we come up with the “course” together.
Yeah, it’s hard for me to miss Heroes. I e-mailed the 10th Wonder Podcast (a REALLY great fan podcast) to see if they might want to do a cross promotional thing but haven’t gotten an answer yet. 🙁
Yeah, I figured that out the first and last time I had lobster. I really didn’t enjoy tearing it limb from limb. You guys are making me feel guilty about not going vegetarian like I’ve been talking about. It’s hard when Trader Joes has all these packaged marinated yummy meats all ready to go. And my kitchen SUX.
That’ll be great Kristin, to work on your 24 podcast and get class credit.
24 and heroes are both programs that it’s difficult catching up after you miss an episode. The Korean dramas I watch are the same way, miss one show and you’re completely lost.
Ahh Trader Joe’s. Food shopping for the single person. The packaged thai and indian food is great! and cheap!!
Here ya go Fred. This ought to help you out with that theory. http://www.taroscopes.com/products/atlantisbook.html
