Got an e-mail from Air America yesterday, and it made me realize something. Between working and what they did to Marc and Mike and Sam, it dawned on me that I really don’t give a shit about them anymore. I suppose if I was in front of the computer at home all day (or we had an AAR affiliate here), I’d be listening to them (well, not the Young Turds or Lionel, but maybe some of the rest of their crap), but as it is, I no longer care. I guess I kind of feel like I did when I finally quit smoking for real. All that stuff I jumped through hoops to get, and now I just don’t care. The only thing I feel bad about, is that I don’t feel bad about it. Go figure.

Lightning in New Hampshire Tuesday night broke the seriousness of the debate and interrupted Giuliani, causing his microphone to cut out.
There is a video of this on the CNN site.

There seems to be a remarkably small amount on line on this QA session with the rethugs last night .
Maybe it is because none of the candidates liked Amerika Incs. CEO very much :reaper: :reaper:

Salon has a great summary of the Repug debate, and apparently when Paul said that we’re not winning in Iraq, and its time to start coming home, it got a lot of applause! Is the base of the Uglies starting to revolt?
A lot of criticism of The Worst President Ever. The Fourth Reich may be ready to collapse.
Here’s a weird thought. Lyndon Johnston in 68 was so pissed at Humphrey that he purposely favored Nixon during that election [until the last month, when he caught Nixon trying to sabotage the peace talks.] Might not President Bush passively support a candidate Clinton over his own parties’ nominee if they continue to criticize him at these debates? Hunter was particularly hostile, but they all had something to say which must be enraging them at the White House today.
How wonderful. :sammy:

good morning everyone….greetings from the land of moose mourning….
I guess he was confused because he was really supposed to want to go north….
yeah….well, the woman survived …the moose, not so much…
poor guy…
From what I have read the Moose is fairly aggressive.. The Alaskan railroad has lots of incidents of Moose attacking their trains. Free Moose and Elk meat is apparently a railroad benny :reaper: :reaper:
Ron Paul is more of a Libertarian than a rethug
He might get us out of the war in Iraq but he would promote a national sales tax and privatization of everything .. His war stance might be for real or it might be a smoke screen to divert votes that would otherwise go to demodorps. :reaper: :reaper:
yeah…they are serious. Its sorta like the bison and elk thing in MT…if you live in a state with these beasts you just know to watch out…and even though the police put out warnings here, people are always speeding along the Merritt (which was made for horse drawn carriages and then model T’s, so unsuitable for how people drive…)
they hit deer all the time and there is always some stupid turkey standing right on the side of the road trying to figure how to cross…
But a moose must have been quite a mind blowing experience!
If Ron Paul is any sort of a breath of fresh air then we are worse off than I thought…
I cant stand the libertarian line….
I can’t make up my mind what is more obnoxious the C-span callers or the talk radio commercials, :yuck: and :yuck: :yuck:
Fred, re 17  :reaper: :rofl2: :reaper:
re 21 … obnoxious are the C-span callers
The talk radio commercials I will gladly endure … not the SPAM, which has gotten worse since end of last year. Why ? :dancers:
Melina, :rofl2: eck  Ron Paul … :yuck:
:growl: A!I!V! … :slap: and my computer is still working :yippee:
…but with The Computer still working for this long it does make me fearful “to look ’round” ๐ฎ
Good Morning :joe: I voted for Ron Paul back when I voted third party as a protest. I like the Libertarians some of the time and I’d rather have a Libertarian than a repug for preznit. If it ended up being Clinton and Paul, I might have a tough decision. :smack:
Dru…you need a Mac…and this is ME saying this!!
I am a PCer from the start…but Im starting to think that Macs are more than appropriate in some circumstances…
for example: in 2 years Will has only had to replace 1 50 cent piece on his laptop plug…otherwise, no problems at all besides that he wants a faster, thinner one…
Yeah yous guys did re elect LIEberman :paranoid: :paranoid:
Jeeze…I would never, never, never go libertarian…I dont have time to go into the points of it, but the privatization is so anti society…in that poor people maybe couldnt use parks because one would end up paying for all sorts of things individually, rather than as a slush fund for the betterment of society…
Tucker Carlson is a Libertarian and I find his ideas repugnant…
even most regular republicans are easier to take than that….and actually neocons are more libertarian than conservative in many cases….if neocon were to not be a criminal and pure, it would run more along the libertarian lines….
Clinton vs. Paul? Really Krista?…at least Clinton is sorta a dem…at least she will listen to pressure from the people/advisors as opposed to the higher calling thing that we see on the other side….
Its a whole different idea of what a society should be
about….

The privatization part is what I don’t like about Libs. I like their view of the Constitution. I really dislike Hillary and I don’t trust her. I don’t think things will change much with her at the helm. Ron Paul would be a wild card, it would be interesting to see what would happen and there are plenty of dems and repugs to offset him if he gets out of hand. But I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that. I’m hoping anyone else but Hillary gets the nomination.
Kristapea, re 29  , I agree but will NEVER vote ReThug … I guess that makes me a Yellow Dog Dem … but “I am not amused” with the DEMS for once!
 please “I Believe in Gore in 08, I Believe in Gore running”
This is the start of my summer vacation. No more svchool ’til September.
I think Hillary would be exponetially better that Paul or any other Rethug. The Rethugs will never give us national health care, rights for gays, a reasonable balance between corporations and real people, a sane environmental policy, decent pay and care for our soldiers, protection from poisoned imports, etc. Ron Paul may not be as much of a whack as the rest, but that doesn’t say much.
Kp, if nothing else she would appoint better judges. I will probably be willing to settle for just that. I also think she would be better on taxes and health care and has at least some more belief in gubment over privatization.
That is where the purity outsmarts the left sometimes as in Nader. I cannot imagine many of his supporters in their heart now think voting for him was a good thing if they were in stateslike FL, OR, and NH that Gore lost by the margin of Green votes.
There are certainly candidates I would rather see starting with Gore and Edwards and Richardson but if it is Haillary vs. any of those jerks I missed last night, I’ll be with her.
Rudy should be calling Lou Christie this morning for his campaign theme song. Zap!
Poof*
I don’t think much of Hillary A(for AIPAC) D( for DLC) Clindork…
The thugs really want her to win the nomination so that they can wind up their M$M to sling mud like mad..
She seems to be very Hawkish on the middle east
She lives in denial about the SBR foreign policy being the cause of a lot of these problems
She lives in denial about the state of the SBR in general
She is in bed with the American Chamber of Commerce who is a prime promoter of Globalization :gate: :omg:
Yeah, Sue P, all that. I hear you, fred, but right now we can’t let another repuglycan become president and let them get complete unbreakable control of the Supreme Court. You think a rubber

Well, I delivered the speech today. Managed to not only get through it, but actually entertain some people.
I had some mild concerns that our director would have an objection to my referencing the Homeland Security color-coding fiasco as the government trying to falsely generate fear, since her son is in training for the Secret Service, but she was fine with it. She even came up after the ceremony and chatted with me a bit.
That’s about as political as the rest of the group would let me get away with, but I was happy to at least get a shot in. They are all aware that I could easily do five minutes of Bush-bashing without any notes. The problem for me would be stopping at five minutes. For some reason, put a lectern in front of me and apparently I can’t shut up.
:yippee:
The rest of their speeches were great too, in case any of them are reading this. They wanted to know where I blog, so I gave them the address, but since none of them are much into politics I doubt that PJ will need a server upgrade to handle the additional traffic.

Turkish officials say troops enter Iraq
ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Hundreds of Turkish soldiers crossed into northern Iraq on Wednesday pursuing Kurdish guerrillas who stage attacks on Turkey from hideouts there, Turkish security officials and an Iraqi Kurd official said.

In 1967 Wally Schirra and his Appolo crew were plucked out the Pacific Ocean and had a news conference on the hanger deck of the aircraft carrier Wasp which was the command ship for the recovery mission. He congratulated the crew for serving on this the name sake of the aircraft carrier than launched Doolittle’s raid on Tokyo .. A ships officer standing next to him whispered in his ear that :”this” is the aircraft carrier that launched Doolittle’s raid . Built in 1938 and still in active service 29 years later.
Gee, and just the other day, Michael Reagan was saying that we are not hearing the good news about Iraq, especially the Kurdish area where peace is making the region a tourist attraction.
The other good news he said is denied us is the great number of Iraqi insurgents we are killing.

Senator Leahy is asking for our help in garnering support for the legislation:
Many of you may recall the hasty passage of the Military Commissions Act in the weeks leading up to last year’s election, a bill that set new rules for trying detainees, in particular those currently being held at Guantanamo Bay in Cuba.
The passage of this bill was a profound mistake, and its elimination of habeas corpus review was its worst error. Righting this wrong is one of my top priorities, and on the first day of this Congress I joined with Senator Arlen Specter to introduce the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act (S. 185). This bipartisan bill already has 17 cosponsors, but it faces a crucial vote in the Judiciary Committee this Thursday so we need your help.
Please e-mail your home-state Senators today and urge them to protect our fundamental liberties by supporting the Habeas Corpus Restoration Act!
Via Christy at FDL, here are the members of the Judiciary Committee who haven’t already signed on as cosponsors of the bill:
Sen. Herb Kohl (D-WI)
Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY)
Sen. Benjamin Cardin (D-MD)
Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT)
Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
Sen. John Kyl (R-AZ)
Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-AL)
Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC)
Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX)
Sen. Sam Brownback (R-KS)
Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK)
Call or e-mail the offices of these Senators to urge them to support S. 185 in committee tomorrow. Here are the toll free numbers for the Capitol Switchboard:
1 (800) 828 – 0498
1 (800) 459 – 1887
1 (800) 614 – 2803
Even if your Senators aren’t on the Judiciary Committee, call and ask them to support this legislation. Given that Specter is a sponsor, it will probably get enough support to get out of committee and get a vote in the full Senate. Or, if your Senator is one of the following, thank them for cosponsoring this critical bill: Biden, Brown, Cantwell, Clinton, Dodd, Durbin, Feingold, Feinstein, Harkin, Kennedy, Kerry, Lautenberg, Leahy, Levin, Obama, Rockefeller, Salazar, Whitehouse.

Fred Thompson’s Christian Nationalist Pander
When prospective GOP presidential candidate Fred Thompson auditioned at a recent meeting of the secretive, far right Council for National Policy, he probably did not have to wonder which buttons to push. The CNP has, since 1981, been a key conservative movement leadership network, dominated by the religious right.
Stupid Kyl! :fu:
Jim, how long was he on? I don’t know where there are any Air American podcasts.
What on earth would get him back on Air America and especially with Riley?
Hmmm?
Yeah. What Vernon wondered. I thought Marc was done with AAR? Have they changed their minds about the $$$? And Marc is usually only on Conan when he’s embarking on something new.
Hmmm….. :sammy:
C-span2 is going to rebroadcast the rethugs Q&A session at 7:30 eastern
XM radio has a new channel called POTUS 2008 which has a tape loop of the rethug debate going since yesterday.
Does anyone know any stations that replay Air Americans later? Does anyone know any stations that even play this show?
Brilliant, we’re going to have to walk you back to Hillary. She votes about 97% with the Democrats, the ACLU, NOW, etc etc. Not bad things, and better than Edwards’ numbers. She’s promised to end the war if its still going, with no wriggle room. Even if she’s the love child of Jerry Falwell and Dorothy Kilgallen, there’s little choice here. Did we learn nothing from the 2000 experience, with the Naderites assuring us there was nothing to choose from between Gore and Bush? You want to argue that one now? The perfect was, is and always will be the enemy of the good, and all these lefty bloggers who are getting so overheated now are going to hold their noses and vote for her, because President Rudy will be the final blow to the constitution. And by the way, any other Repug president, including President Paul, will be the death knell of Roe v. Wade.
Anyway, two more GOP Senators have now come out for the Iraq study group plan. Bush’s death of a thousand cuts has begun. Can’t we enjoy the destruction of the Fourth Reich, now that its finally starting? Or are we going to be like those wacko anti-communists in the 90’s, who after the Berlin Wall fell, assured everybody that it was just a trick? :sammy:

The Marcks were on together for the first fifteen or twenty minutes (commercials included). They chatted a bit – Mark talked about music and Marc laughed about how little he knew about music. They talked some current events.
Then after the commercial, Ron Dodd brought them back in with the Morning Sedition music and Marc’s standard “Good Morning philosopher kings and queens, working class heroes, progressive utopians with no sense of humor, lurking conservatives” etc….
Very nostalgic few minutes. Riley invited Maron to come back and hang out again.
btw, Riley made mention that the phones in the studio were ringing off the hook while Maron was on the air.
The whole segment made me very nostalgic and had me missing one of the most unusual and best accidental radio pairings ever.
AAR runs some “best of Air Americans” segments over the weekends but there’s never any guarantee of what segments they’ll run.
