Here we go again – another Sunday full of heads that talk, but say very little. Today looks like wannabe President’s Day (they ought to make that a Monday Holiday; come to think of it, Monday should just be a damn holiday every week).
Today, Timmy Potatohead has an “exclusive” hour with the Illinois kid, Barack Obama. Big Head vs. Big Ears. Whoopie. Better put your fucking flag pin on, Barack.
On Faze the Nation, Bush Booby Bobby Schieffer does Timmuh one better, as he hosts two Presidential candidates – Mike “Huckleberry” Huckabee and Mr. “let’s kill the government,” Ron Paul.
At Fux News, Weselface Wallace hosts Bill “yes, I’m still running” Richardson, and everybody’s favorite Prednisone Puss, St. John McCain. Then there’s the usual Fux Noise panel of expert assholes, and something that should make compelling teevee, Fux’s “Power Player of the Week,” White House Social Secretary Amy Zantzinger. Wow, don’t forget to set your TiVos for that one.
On the Goebbels network, George Snufalufagus gets a visit from the Lizard Queen, Condi Rice, on to talk about Democracy breaking out in Pakistan, and then George will speak with Chris Dodd. Later, the Axis of Drivel is reunited once again, as Sam :omg: Donaldson, Cokie “the hag” Roberts and George :jerk: Will sit around and contribute to global warming with a lot of hot air. And This Weak’s “Voice” will be Maya Lin, who designed the the Vietnam Veterans Memorial at the age of 21. Well, she aint 21 anymore (sadly, neither am I), as this weekend vets will gather to commemorate the memorial’s 25th anniversary.
I don’t know whose on Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission this week, and, frankly, I don’t give a damn.
Later, on 60 Minutes, Lesley Stahl reports on MRSA, which has been around for years, but is suddenly a big fucking thing we’re supposed to be in a panic over (I guess nobody cares about bird flu anymore). Lara Logan reports on Gregory Thompson, a schizophrenic man who, when unmedicated, hears voices, suffers from severe delusions, is often suicidal, and has eaten his own shit. The State of Tennessee is hoping to keep him medicated long enough to kill him, though several experts have determined that, even medicated, Thompson is still incompetent. And then Morley Safer reports on spoiled brats coddled by their parents, and incapable of functioning in the workplace. They call them “millennials.” I call them Bushies.
Enjoy your Sunday, everybody, but at 11 minutes past the 11th hour, step back and take a moment to think about the fact that we seem to have learned nothing at all from the war to end all wars (or from all the wars that followed).
I’m up, I’m up. :joe: :joe: Not my choice. The dogs have finally figured out that I am the one who walks them, now. It only took a month and a half for them to be convinced. Before this weekend, Minnie the german shepherd would wake hubby. Friday morning she woke ME ๐ก as she did Saturday and VERY early today.
This week, a federal grand jury voted to indict Former New York City police Commissioner Bernard Kerik, the corrupt protege of Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani, on charges stemming from tax evasion and corruption allegations. While it was believed that Giuliani did not know of Kerik’s legal woes before they grew close, Andrew Kirtzman, a journalist for CBS 2 in NYC and a long-time Giuliani reporter, tells a different story.
“It turns out that Giuliani was briefed about Kerik’s relationship with this allegedly mobbed-up company even before Giuliani named him police commissioner, long before Giuliani recommended Kerik to be Homeland Security Chief,” he told John Roberts on CNN’s American Morning. “So, it raises a lot of questions. Giuliani has a lot of questions to answer on the campaign trail about his judgment.”
The journalist made clear the value Giuliani ascribes to allegiance, perhaps at the expense of pragmatism or honesty. “I’ve been covering Giuliani as long as anyone and I can’t guarantee to you, sitting here this morning, that he wouldn’t make the same mistake again if he became president because Giuliani values loyalty over everything.”
Kirtzman also sees a commonality between Giuliani and President Bush, who stood by embattled confidants Donald Rumsfeld and Alberto Gonzalez long after others defected. “Giuliani and Bush have that trait in common. I think it’s something to look for,” he said.
http://rawstory.com/news/2007/CBS_reporter_Giuliani_puts_loyalty_above_1109.html
Giudi Ruliani, just like Bush, appointed incompetent but loyal people to all the agencies. Some were corrupt and a number of them were indicted, but others just ruined the agencies of which they were in charge.
Kerik was Rudy’s DRIVER before becoming police commissioner. He replaced William Bratton who was the author of Rudy’s crime reduction strategy but made the mistake of taking credit for it and appeared on the cover of Time. Rudy fired him.
I think a Rudy presidency would destroy Bush’s rep as worst president.
So, does Minnie touch you with her cold nose to wake you up, Sue? That’s what Nellie does.
KP, Minnie has many ways of waking me up. The first is smacking the bed with her paws. If that doesn’t work, she likes to breathe in may face. Wet nose nudging is usually a last and completely effective tactic.
You and I seem to be the only ones here today. Everyone else is surely glued to the teevee watching those enthralling bobbleheads.
pj/Sunshine Jim- appreciate the input on laptops- finding a laptop without Vista is like living in the third year of the BEE rather than the seventh.
Office Depot has Levono retail so we decided to go with something that Mrs A can actually hold, touch.
Question- if she’s in an area w/o wireless, would she need a seperate service provider to use dial-up? Is there some kind of card that can be installed that wouldn’t cause any additional monthly expense? The store-guy said if the computer has a phone outlet on the side that she can go either way without it costing more.
also, is the three-year warranty covering everything worth it or needed? ๐ฏ
Okay, I admit, she sleeps with me. Danu likes to wake me with a big kiss :omg: or her sharp paw nails slaps her humongous (or one can use a “u”) paw on my wrist or my back :omg: … A!I!V!
I am listening to Malt-Shop Memories music …… so many wonderful tunes ๐ ๐ … whilst working ๐ A!I!V!
If your ISP includes dialup, then you can use the modem built in to the computer to use dialup. I assume it has a modem (if it has an RJ11 jack in it, then it has a modem). But, you still need to have a dialup account (and local numbers to call into wherever you’re at). Some broadband ISPs (such as RoadRunner) include dialup access, so you need to check with yours.
If you haven’t purchased yet, now that you’ve held it, you may want to do a search for the exact same laptop and see what the prices are like. Don’t forget to figure in the cost of shipping and/or sales tax. You may still want to buy it locally, of course, but it’s always nice to see just how much of a deal you’re getting (or not).
Depends on the warranty and how much it costs. If it covers accidents (drops, broken screens, wine spills, etc), then it just might be worth it. I’m wishing I had that right now.
“Held it” in as much as the anti-theft device would allow us to lift it up a quarter of an inch while a cranky salesman was watching us at 15 minutes to closing time :tap:
thanks 8)

Guilty as charged. I thought watching Obama might be a good idea, now I’m wishing I had that hour back. Not to mention that Potatohead becomes more annoying every time I watch his sorry show.
Obama has nothing to say and no interesting way to say it. How the hopes and dreams of the future became attached to this guy is beyond me. He is a pleasant enough person to listen to, but it was like watching paint dry.
Meanwhile, someone like Kucinich is forced to discuss UFOs on the rare occasion that the MSM temporarily point a mic in his direction. Please.
Not to mention that the writers and Broadway stagehands are being portrayed as heartless bastards for having the audacity to strike. You know what? If little Jimmy doesn’t get to see the Grinch on Broadway this year, maybe mommy and daddy should explain to him something about workers’ rights and the destruction of unions in this country. The Grinch is alive, and his name is Bush.
OK, I’m done for now. ๐
The Murdoch owned NY Post has an article critical of Rudy. That’s pretty unusual because the Post’s editorial policy and its reporting are NOT separate. This one delineates some of Rudy’s questionable business dealings:

Kev, I heard this morning that the strikers said that they were not trying to protect their second and third homes, but their family’s only home. then the announcer said that the producers “shot” back thet they shouldn’t have to hire more people than they need.
Believe me, my heart bleeds for all those poor folk who can’t see a Broadway play this weekend. I hope they don’t have to trip over too many selfish homeless folks on their way back to the hotel.
This Is All I Can Stand… ! I am not Union NOW … Unions, like the DEMS are not perfect, BUT IF ONE WORKS ONE NEEDS TO BE UNION! It is to protect oneself against the employers! One plus one = 2 = Unions = :tap: …. I do not want to speak only “to the choir” … so I MUST continue working  A!I!V! :knit: :dancers:
Artnorton and PJSauter … PJ, I have been a (good  ) Lurk’r with your info to A & Mrs A. Art, I like the questions you and Mrs. A. asked…….even regarding Vista :rofl2:  (I want to go “Lap” AGAIN sniff) but whether Desk or Lap, I know my day for another is approaching. :smack: ๐ฎ
:growl: :fist: A!I!V!
Norman M, reminding what you said prior to death “forces” one to understand and keep persevering.
Researchers at Ohio State University garnered little attention in February when they found that youngsters who lose their virginity earlier than their peers are more likely to become juvenile delinquents. So obvious and well established was the contribution of early sex to later delinquency that the idea was already part of the required curriculum for federal “abstinence only” programs.
There was just one problem: It is probably not true. Other things being equal, a more probing study has found, youngsters who have consensual sex in their early-teen or even preteen years are, if anything, less likely to engage in delinquent behavior later on.

If I’d have been gettin’ laid, I’d have stayed out of a lot more trouble, too.
Vista question- Mrs A got a laptop w/Vista Buisness. We’ve got an older light-weight Lexmark printer that she’s going to take on the road with her. We installed the software, it’s showing that it’s installed in accessories-it’s even showing that the document is in the printer waiting to print- only problem, it’s not printing. We’ve tried using all 3 USB ports- bupkus. The freaking Lenovo booklet doesn’t even show how to physically hook everything up (althought that’a pretty obvious. Needless to say, all connections have been triple checked- if the software is incompatible with Vista (my worst fear) wouldnt it prevent downloading? ๐ฎ :fustrate:
