Not much going on today. Maybe go up to my sister’s house, and bask in the glow of the pellet stove we put in last week. SU’s on at noon on ESPN HD, so maybe I’ll just hang out and watch that (tough to watch, though; due to injuries and other issues, they’re down to 7 scholarship players – and they’re all freshman and sophomores, for the most part). Whatever I do, I think I’ll try not to pay any attention to politics for a day. It all hurts my little head, and I’m still at a loss as to who to vote for on Tuesday. Oh, John, why didn’t you hang on for another week? You’d have made things so much easier on me.
Happy GH Day!

Vernon, did you find last Tuesday’s Maron/Seder show? I’m really disappointed that Sam doesn’t post links. I seldom can be near a computer at 11AM on a Tuesday and there are probably lots of other fans who can’t either.

One has to ask how much that poll cost Murdork.. :reaper: :reaper:
It’s interesting that even as Faux News gets great ratings, their influence seems to diminish. Their love of Rudy didn’t translate into primary wins. Their business channel isn’t doing well either.
The NY Post, Murdoch’s mouthpiece in the City, has a pretty good circulation (it costs .25 to the NY Times $1.25) but NYC is still a very liberal place. maybe it has to do with what one of Murdoch’s lawyers said to Judith Regan, “No one believes what they read in the Post.”
Eric Boehlert had a post about 2008 poised to be a tough year for Fux News.
But, when Fux has 8 of the top 10 (12 of the top 20) – even the friggin’ repeat of O’Reilly makes the top 10 for cable ‘news’ programs – I wonder just how tough a year it’ll be.
And Hillary for President ought to give them plenty of fresh red meat to roll around in.

For about the first 25 minutes, Marc could not get his apple stuff working and then had a major fit until Sam talked him off the ledge. They proceeded with Maron doing his audio via cell phone. They were supposedly going to try to actually work on the tech stuff together Wednesday. The amount of preparation they both seem to put in would be insulting if it weren’t so funny most of the time.
Marc’s hissy fit was definitely funny this week. Don’t know what his problem is. His video seems OK (as OK as that thing gets, anyway), but his audio craps out. Doesn’t seem like his Internet connection so much as a problem with the audio on his computer. I always thought those Mac thingies just worked without having any operator intervention. I mean, that’s what that kid in the commercials is always saying.

Apparently all these cut fibre optics cables all over the place have placed a real strain on the aging system here in the SBR where everything is being rerouted so if you experience long delays, updates that didn’t happen, sites that no longer exist that will be the norm until they come up with an investor to pay them to fix the problems ( isn’t capitalism wonderful) :reaper: :reaper:

Hey, Druid. It’s pretty warm in NY, which turned out to be a pretty lucky thing for hubby, this morning ’cause Clifford, my cat, ran out the door, headed for the woods and poor hubby in his underwear had to run out after him.
Clifford is in a really bad mood, today. He spent the morning throwing anything he could, off shelves and countertops before he decided to spend some time trying to bite the buttons off a newly washed sweater.
I told him he was acting like a Rethug, but he doesn’t seem to care.

Faux News’ ratings will gradually decline due to the average age of their core audience. The typical O’Lielly viewer is pushing 70, from what I understand.
Not to mention that next year when everything goes digital, those viewers may have a tough time even figuring out how to turn on the TV.
:rofl2:
And don’t accuse me of age prejudice. My dad turns 77 this month and watches KO every weeknight. So there.
:nana:
Just got back from (among other things) seeing Michael Clayton. No, not the underachieving Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver. The movie. With George Clooney. Good stuff.
I missed it when it was first released last year. It’s in re-release right now and is well worth seeing, or if you don’t want to fight off the teenyboppers waiting in line to see Hannah Montana, the DVD comes out on the 19th.
The last episode of season 1 of Big Love is on HBO2 tonight. That will give me both seasons on tape. It’s on an hour earlier than usual tonight, at 8 PM EST/PST, if anyone else is being a cheapskate like me and taping it.
Maybe Willard can do a guest appearance when season 3 starts in the spring, since it doesn’t look like he’s going to be busy with other stuff.
:rofl2:
My guess is that since fux is cable, most cable operators will make sure that their customers are up to speed next year. Those who will more likely to be denied for a while when the digi conversion goes down will be those who can’t afford or choose not to pay for cable. Of course, our poor are not really poor.
You can watch Obama live in Minneapolis right now if you care.
Yeah, I was laughing at Marcs’ temper tantrum with Sam trying to smooth his feathers out. I’ve been frustrated, pissed off like that and its not funny while its happening, of course. But if you’re watching from a distance it’s funny. ๐

The cable in most places is already digital and broadcasts regular TeeVee in digital resolutions that come out of the cable box computable with your analog TeeVee. The service provider can even remotely switch channels for you..send you two or more channels at once , spy on what you are watching and many many other things…
Maybe that explains FAUX new’s ratings.
I still think that is George Orwell stand there in that fog under that light pole not Rod Sterling.. :reaper: :reaper:
When you are 70 something I imagine the TeeVee settings tend to become corroded in one position. :tap: :tap:
Hey Druid … question …. In Denver they don’t alow people in the metro area to have heating devices that produce visible smoke . ( unless you use your semi tractor or diesel pick up truck to keep you warm..).. when you refer to making a fire does San Fran actually allow you make a “real” fire ??? :tap: :tap:
Microsoft has this “product” they call Windows OneCare live.. Over last night they but out an up grade that depending on where your up grade sever was may or may not have worked . When it doesn’t work the program on your PC resorts to defaults which among other things does not not allow anything either in or out through the firewall … all day long my cell phone has been ringing and all I can say is ‘well I’m not IS ask them” and the answer has been “well IS doesn’t answer”
Aren’t monopolies and globalization wonderful :yuck: :crap: :paranoid:
It really doesn’t matter if your cable is analog or digital. The cable company gets the signal however they need to, and sent it out to you. The only folks who need to worry are those with analog tv’s who get their tv OTA (over the air) when all tv stations are required to broadcast their signal digitally. If you have a tv that can’t handle digital OTA signals, then you’ll need to get a converter box to convert the digital broadcast signal to an analog signal that your tv can use.
If you have cable or satellite, you don’t have to do anything different. And, Fux News being a cable channel, well, not much will change there.
But I do have questions:
1. What about Religion?
2. Should I even Give A Damn?
A. Age: One can die even at 28 or I could die in a blink of the eye, but my Grandfather died after trying to repair roof on a 3 story home at 96 or 98 BUT his Sister and my Fav Aunt Sarah died at 104yrs, so I just may live another 50 or 60 plus years, so should I stay involved – but some die at 50 something so maybe just write for me and leave the movement to the younger but they also could die tomorrow?
Most old analog cable does not have the bandwidth to transmit digital TeeVee signals in fact I know of no analog cable providers that are left around here. The cable boxes I have seen ( three in number) have a DVO ( digital video out ??) and a AVO ( analog video out?? ) ( yellow white red) as well as RF video out ( channel two or three) and and Svideo connector(s) on them .. โ โ
Am I Being Forced to get Cable? Sniff …Then Sniff Then GoodBye My Nationwide Calling. ๐ … :growl: A!I!V!
Cable can be both good and bad .. you can get much better Internet bandwidth over the cable .. and …you don’t even have to to subscribe to the TeeVee service… so far at least the cable service providers seem to be quite proud of there bandwidth .. cable Internet is about twice the price of DSL. :tap: :tap:
Obama and Clintdork are both advertised as protestants. … I don’t think either belong to a fundie church. I think Clintdork is a lutheran ( not that she has gone to church except for photo ops that I know of).. and Obama is a member of the largest United Church of Christ church in Chicago which is mostly black and quite active in social justice issues and for some some reason at demonizing whitey ( a lot of the Reich talk show hosts call that raciest) That denomination was quite active in sending voter rights workers to the south in the 1960s โ โ โ
You don’t need to get cable, Druid. You’ll just need to get a converter box. And Congress approved $1.5 billion to pay for a converter box subsidy program. They’re supposed to be handing out $40 coupons to the 15 million or so over-the-air-only households in the US. The boxes are supposed to cost between $50 – $80 (give or take).
Like I have said before that the last time some country(s) invaded preemptively it caused WWII ..
WWIII should last about 20 minutes
Not being involved may be a good way to commit suicide,, its just a question of how do you want to be involved .. most of what Heartman advertises has a been there… tried that… doesn’t work answer to it. :reaper: :reaper:

With all the analog reception problems I have seen being up against the mountains I can only guess at how much fun over the air digital transmission will become. :reaper: :reaper:
The railroads tried RF digital transmission for remote control of in train helper locomotives for over 20 years and it wasn’t until they went to spread spectrum transmission ( much like GPS signals) that they got that to work along the front range. :reaper: :reaper:
I think you don’t really understand how it works. With a digital signal, you either get it or you don’t.
It reminds me of a line from the movie ‘The Great Outdoors,’ where John Candy says to Dan Akroyd, “you wouldn’t know a good time if it fell out of the sky, landed on your face, and started to wiggle.”

Susan Joyรขโฌโขs obit.
I wanted to let her folks know the we’ll miss her. i left this for them there.
Susie Joy was a friend and is missed here on the blogosphere. We considered her to be interesting, compassionate and brilliant at times. Her art and writing were always enjoyed and will be missed by many of her online fiends. It was a shock for many of us to learn that she was sick. i can’t remember her ever mentioning it to me. She did use her time here well though. Susie was a treat to know and many of us will miss her. Hope she does well on this next adventure and I hope she puts in a good word for the rest of us.
