Not sure it’s worth starting a new thread every day, but I guess I’ll start one for today. Don’t have much to say, except this was one big goddamn pig.

pj, I love reading what you have to say. It doesn’t fall on deaf ears and I thank ya for your time. {insert h/t}

Bingo- my aunt is at the Binghamton hospital recovering from hip surgery…. sad day there. Has the nr f*n a come out saying we need more guns? Oh yeah, this will help. “A bright spot”??

Why is there this disconnect? So if more people have nuclear weapons in this country, we’ll have fewer nuke problems?
I have one more beef this morning. (Maybe I should say pork in honor of that gia-normous pig^.)
Fundamentalists by any name are freakin’ fundamentalists:

FK of the North, I always remember that the 3 monotheistic religions come from that wonderful place, the Middle East, and they share the attitude about women that, in this humble atheist’s opinion, would be best done away with.
I had a friend who often praised monotheism as a way to unite all people because we are all the children of one god. However, the real world experience does not bear this out. The polytheistic religions would often incorporate the gods of other peoples either by meshing one god with a similar god, i.e. Juno and Zeus, or adding to their pantheon.
That left only man’s unending cruelty to his fellow man.
Good point, sp. My problem, I think, is not with God, or the belief or non-belief thereof, but with religion. I know that’s not a new thought, but it does make sense to me.
So fk of the north will be on the move again, folks. My destiny is taking me in a southerly direction.

No matter how you cut it, I’ll once again have my work cut out for me. The reason for move: J-O-B.
I just spoke to the NY Times about placing an obit. For 4, 25 character lines they charge $262 and $52 for each additional line. I shall think of this as helping to save the Times.
Rudy Giuliani’s once-thriving consulting firm is on the ropes, heavily pared down after his aborted presidential run last year, several sources told The Post.
The firm’s client list has thinned out in the past few years, as have partner salaries, the sources said. Some partners have left, and some support staffers let go.

James N. Tedisco is so optimistic about winning the deadlocked race for Congress from upstate New York that he was giving up his coveted job as minority leader of the State Assembly. Or at least that was what he said in a farewell news conference on Friday.
But fed-up fellow Republicans were about to shove him out if he didn’t jump first, several assemblymen said, out of pent-up anger at his insistence on keeping the leadership post, and its perks, despite his time-consuming pursuit of the Congressional seat.

pj, you have been on a great roll lately on the kickoffs but you can’t be expected to keep it up now that spring and summer are upon us. If I had anything to say and did not lose embed abilities I’d take a few more swings. I also lost laptop portability so all computer activity gets done in my office, aka the room behind the garage.
Sue, I was thinking rent-obit might be the one thing Craig’s List could not take away from the newspapers. I thought it might make a good April Fools bit. Then again…
Gee, 49er (if I can still call you that), that is a pretty dramatic change. Hope it all works out OK. I am starting to worry that I will have to relocate for a j-o-b or because of the lack of one. Clock’s ticking.
Phoenix police raided the home of a blogger who has been highly critical of the department.
Jeff Pataky, who runs Bad Phoenix Cops, said the officers confiscated three computers, routers, modems, hard drives, memory cards and everything necessary to continue blogging.
The 41-year-old software engineer said they also confiscated numerous personal files and documents relating to a pending lawsuit he has against the department alleging harassment – which he says makes it obvious the raid was an act of retaliation.

This was a hit tonight. I used “purple haze” baby carrots. They were beautiful!
