Feel free to kill at will,
While a high-profile battle rages over a mosque near ground zero in Manhattan, heated confrontations have also broken out in communities across the country where mosques are proposed for far less hallowed locations.
-.-
In all of the recent conflicts, opponents have said their problem is Islam itself. They quote passages from the Koran and argue that even the most Americanized Muslim secretly wants to replace the Constitution with Islamic Shariah law.
-.-
Feeding the resistance is a growing cottage industry of authors and bloggers — some of them former Muslims — who are invited to speak at rallies, sell their books and testify in churches. Their message is that Islam is inherently violent and incompatible with America.
-.-
Recently, a small group of activists became alarmed about the mosque. Diana Serafin, a grandmother who lost her job in tech support this year, said she reached out to others she knew from attending Tea Party events and anti-immigration rallies. She said they read books by critics of Islam, including former Muslims like Walid Shoebat, Wafa Sultan and Manoucher Bakh. She also attended a meeting of the local chapter of ACT! for America, a Florida-based group that says its purpose is to defend Western civilization against Islam.
“As a mother and a grandmother, I worry,†Ms. Serafin said. “I learned that in 20 years with the rate of the birth population, we will be overtaken by Islam, and their goal is to get people in Congress and the Supreme Court to see that Shariah is implemented. My children and grandchildren will have to live under that.â€

I just have to reiterate, it is their poor teachers who are being held responsible for the test scores of people who reason like Ms. Serafin.
Jiminey Christmas! I read what’s been happening ’round here this week and the place has gone to hell.
:gate: FEEL BETTER EVERYONE!!!! :gate:
In a handbasket.
Thanks for holding the place, Vern. :peace:
PJ was awake & moaning & groaning most of last night & I couldn’t sleep after 3:30 AM, so I stayed up reading “Family of Secrets: The Bush Dynasty, America’s Invisible Government, and the Hidden History of the Past Fifty Years” by Russ Baker on my Kindle for PC until he finally decided it was time for the ER around 5:30 AM. His right arm was pretty puffy and his reported 8/10 pain report looked more like a 10/10 to me, but it’s his pain 😥 (not mine thank goodness).
He did not want to go to the hospital where we both work, so we went to the one where I used to work (which is not a Level I Trauma Center, but thank goodness we didn’t need that for this) and hurried up and waited there for just over 6 hours. They gave him 5 mg of morphine for the pain after 2 hours, got bloodwork, x-rays & an ultrasound of the arm because it was swollen & there was concern for a blood clot :omg: (which I thought unlikely but kept my mouth shut).
ED doc said the bloodwork was OK, x-ray showed some arthritis, no acute injury & lots of soft tissue swelling, ultrasound negative for blood clots (toldjaso). Called for an Ortho consult and this cute litte hotsy-totsy 😎 :hubba: 20-something-year-old Physicians Assistant shows up and pokes around his shoulders and arms and asks all the “any trauma? what kind of activity have you been doing?” and such questions. PJ made an appointment with an ortho guy recommended by our brother-in-law for 8/16 and thought he could tough it out till then, but PA Hotsy-Totsy 😎 :hubba: told him he needs to call tomorrow & see if he can get in sooner, prescribed maximum dose Ibuprofen and 20 Lortabs, and, of course, ice :cold: . So, that’s the plan for tomorrow.
He took the first dose of Ibuprofen & Lortab about 4 hours ago and says he feels a little better. :billcat: I hope he’ll be able to sleep tonight. He’s not a whiner, so I always suspect that things are worse than he says they are and it takes a while to overcome the resistance to seeking mainstream medical “help” such as it is. I totally understand & relate to that because I’m the same way. :ear:
A wooden tray table fell on the top of my right foot rather forcefully on Thursday evening & it puffed up pretty good 😮 after a couple of hours & was too painful to bear weight. Good thing we had the crutches from when PJs foot was like that. So, I had to call in sick to work the next day because I couldn’t walk or drive. Whomped up a poultice with some comfrey from the herb garden and a couple of other herbs & some aloe vera juice & wrapped the foot in it, kept it elevated & iced. Felt much better and could almost full weight bear by the end of Friday. It was fine by saturday morning. 🙂 Put the same type of poultice in PJs shoulder, but it didn’t touch it. He’s so damn stubborn.
So, thanks again, Vern, for holding “The Place” for PJ, and to all of you dear Bloggies for your healing thoughts for PJ to get un-crippled! :yinyang: :peace:
Hey, RG! Thanks for the update! I will try to top off if I can and I am sure what’s left of us will understand. Just take care of the Kid and yourself for us and give him and you all of our best.
Thanks for the update, RG. Glad you’re a bit better and glad pj got something for the pain and will get in to see ortho doc asap.
Thanks to you, too, Vernie!
Sounds awful, RG. There’s just no fun like the fun of getting older. Take care of yourselves.
Vern, you are a very fine and appreciated place holder.
Vern- you’re a real friend of the blog.
RG- Did they mention anything about infectious arthritis? Or draw some fluid?
