I hope y’all made it through 2011 unscathed. 2012 beckons. Let’s hope things get better on the jobs front this year. And that rich people won’t have to start paying taxes. Things are warm here. Forty degrees right now, and it’s supposed to get up near fifty today. An unusual start to the new year in these parts. That’s not supposed to last, of course, and by the wee hours of Tuesday morning it’s supposed to be down into the single digits. And they say some snow’s a-comin’. So I suppose I ought to get out there and enjoy this while it lasts.
‘Tis warm here, too. And, yes we stayed up ’til midnight. Kissed each other and of course Lola and committed ourselves to making sure the rich are not taxed. Happy 2012!
OK. My image seems to be stuck on Nigel and I am too tired to deal with it any more so be it for a while. You missed Gabby Hayes Santa which is the look I seem to be sporting lately facially. You are also missing the image of the baby of new year from some 59 years ago. I think he is visible on the FaceBooks.
I was babysitting last night for my new parent friends and the baby that was guaranteed to sleep through the night decided that she was not gonna miss her first New Years so she decided to get up at 11:15 with undeniable crying to be surprised by Uncle Gabby Vern attending to her. We got passed the initial shock and we settled in for a little hanging out with some of the few toys she had recently received. I tried to put her down again but she had no interest whatsoever in having her diaper changed and I was not about to force the issue.
However, for sleeping she was not about to give up so easily so around midnight the crying started again. We mixed up a bottle and headed back to the living room where she took a shine to watching an old Austin City Limits with Tom Waits with the bottle in front of her. If someone had been there to shoot it we’d be viral today. I saw a video from a friend on the FB of Steve Goodman on the laptop and clicked on it (Waits might be a little risque for an 8 month old with the cigarettes and all) and we went through 5 or 6 Steve Goodman clips that she couldn’t stop looking at except to glare at me when I sang along with one. She’s gonna be a handful but it was the best NYE date I’ve had maybe ever.
Happy New Year, Y’all! Go ‘9ers and Orange round ball! Hopes abound for ’12! At least I am not hanging out waiting for pitchers and catchers to report.
:cake: 🙁 :gate: :cold: :alc: :40:
Yes, something is odd with the Gravatar things. They seem to stick around long after they’ve been changed. But not in the admin pages. I thought it was just a browser thing, but maybe not. Perhaps I have some sort of ubercaching enabled.
