I’m still in awe over the words of our great leader last night, so I don’t have much to say. There’s just no way one man can take over him in 2009, so I propose that we elect co-presidents next time around. Saint McCain and the last honest man, Joey Lieberman.

Thanks to Jill from B@B for hosting the SOTU chat last night. I would have kicked my teevee set in, if I couldn’t have watched it with y’all as backup.

Been hassling with moving my other, non-MS stuff to here. If I get it done by Sunday, I won’t have to pay for another month at the old place. Problem is, a lot of it is old, and not very well thought out when I did it (and most of it, I haven’t touched in ages), so I’ve had to try and fix a bunch of stuff that I want split into different domain names. It’s not very good stuff, but I’d like to keep it intact (for posterity’s sake), and a lot of it got broken over the course of two previous server moves (lost my very first stuff completely, on move #2, which is really too bad – had some cool things flying across the page, and a midi version of “Shine on You Crazy Diamond” that attracted my wife, plus a nifty starfield background – but, hey, that’s life). I can’t believe some of this stuff goes back over ten years now. Seems like I just got on the Internet not that long ago.

By they way, we’ll probably hit 200,000 visitors to the blog today, for whatever that’s worth. Still amazes me, that anybody ever comes here at all. I just hope the glitches with the new host stop – when things are working here, they seem to work pretty well.

Anyhow, have a happy hump day.

Finally, the big day has arrived. What wonderful and inspiring words has the decider decided on for tonight? Mission to Mars, switchgrass, tax cuts for the rich, stay the course, sanctity of stem cells, we come in peace, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, shoot to kill, we come in peace, beam me up Barney….

Well, whatever his majesty has to say, one thing’s for sure. I won’t be watching the miserable lying bastard. After all, it’s Tuesday night, and Dead Like Me is on.

Well, here we are, first full day in the new home. So far, so good. I like the new host, though there are a couple of quirks to work out still. Hopefully you’re finding this a much more enjoyable experience. Have a good one.

UPDATE: 5:10 PM EST Well, it looks like things are mostly working, and the DNS has already propagated for me, and things seem more or less intact. In other words, if you’re reading this, we’re all good to go. So, I’ll open up comments on the Sunday Booblehead Thread again, and leave this here for a bit. Keep your fingers crossed that things are better.

On a sad note, the member photos do not work on the new host – at least, not at the moment. We’ll put that on the list of things to do.

Yes, it’s another Sunday with the talking heads. This week, it’s a potato fest, as Timmuh Potatohead hosts straight talkin’ chipmunk cheeks John McCain (who has now flipped on every position he’s ever officially taken, I think), and the not exactly petite-headed Teddy Kennedy. Kennedy, however, is the only one of the three whose massive cranium isn’t totally filled with shit.

Over at CBS, Bobby Schieffer talks to Nebraska Republican Chuck Hagel (any chance we can trade Lieberman for him? We could even throw in James Carville, and a couple of first round picks in ’08), plus John Harris, Josephine Hearn, and Jim VandeHei, all of the yet to officially launch politico.com. No doubt, they will dispense much political wisdom.

On Fux News Sunday, weaselface Wallace asks the question, “now that we’ve enabled Bush to lie the country into this Iraq quagmire, what are the Democrats gonna do about it?” Guests include Joe Biden (D-MBNA), Carl Levin (D-MI), and everybody’s favorite irrelevant disgraced former Speaker of the House, Newt Gingrich.

Over at Goebbels, Hillary’s in, and George Snufalufagus goes “On the Trail” with Bill Richardson to see if he is, too. Speaking of “in”, so is Crazy Sammy “families, we gotta strengthen families” Bareback Brownback of Kansas, which I guess merits giving him some air time, and Jan Crawford Greenburg “reveals the real story behind the recent nominations to the Supreme Court.” Whatever that might be. Plus, the axis of drivel is reunited again, as George :jerk: Will, Cokie “the hag” Roberts and Sam :omg: Donaldson sit around the roundtable.

Over at CNN, Wolf Blitzer’s Late Emission consists of a bunch of people I really don’t give a shit about, plus fellow deadhead Pat Leahy (the Senator, not the Jets old kicker), and Maxine Waters. By the way, if you put the following into Google:

wolf blitzer’s “late emission”

…the result set is exclusively from Morning Seditionists (you need to put the quotes around “late emission” though). I’m almost as proud of that as I am of what you get if you search for: Danny Goldberg asshole.

Later, on 60 Minutes, it’s, well, it’s the AFC Championship Game between the Colts and the Patriots. Lots of former SU guys playing for the Colts, but odds are the Patriots will wind up winning, whether they deserve to or not.

Of course, it’s an all-new Rome on HBO (don’t forget to tell them you want to see that Maron show), plus, on Sci-Fi, it’s the premiere of the Dresden Files, and – more importantly – the return of Battlestar Galactica on its new night. Thank God they rerun everything on the cable stations, or I’d have to go out and buy another DVR.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Little bit snowy and blowy out there this morning. No big deal, ordinarily, but as mild as it’s been here this year, it’s kinda nice to get something a bit more seasonable.

This shit’s gotta stop. Ordinarily, I’m somewhat dubious as to the efficacy of demonstrations, but the one coming up next weekend is a chance to provide political cover to our “representatives” to cut off the funding for this escalation, and to stop the madness. It’s more than cover. It’s a way to show these people that there will be consequences to defying the will of the people. I won’t be in DC next week, because somebody has to stay here and take care of the animals, but Granny and Junior will be there. If you can’t make it, then there’s probably something going on close to you, so get out there and make your voice heard. This is a chance to do more than bitch. And, for once, I think it can really make a difference – not in influencing dubya, ‘cuz he doesn’t give a shit. But in providing a little bit of a backbone for our congress critters.

So, I’m thinking it’s probably not too soon to contact HBO, and tell them that you think a Sunday morning alternative to the crappy talking head programs is a great idea, and that of course the best person to host is that Marc Maron guy, who has excellent interviewing skills, expansive political knowledge, and who is the very epitome of “young” and “hip” (as opposed to the current Sunday shows, which are the epitome of “old” and “hip replacement”). So, you can try and figure out which subject on their contact page is best suited to conveying this message, or you can just use the “general” contact form. You could even give them a call at 212-512-1208 Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM until 5:00 PM Eastern Time.

Oh, and tell ’em that the only reason you bought copies of Left of the Dial for everyone in your family was the Marc Maron commentary.

So, the sense of the Senate seems to be that more cannon fodder for Iraq is a bad thing. Except Joe Lieberman, of course. And Hillary is coming up with some kind of talking out both sides of her mouth bullshit, where she doesn’t wanting to limit funding for “out troops,” but she wants to limit money for Iraqi forces if they don’t do what we tell them to, the goddamn ingrates (makes you wonder why we even bothered to liberate them in the first place). I really hope she decides not to run. I hope Obama decides not to, too. He’s just a slightly darker (and younger) version of your typical DLC posturer, IMHO. I guess if Gore won’t run, I’ll have to go with Edwards. Maybe and Edwards – Clark ticket. But it’s all way too early to start obsessing about that (and now Florida is gonna move it’s primaries to January? Oy). Another warmish day here, I guess – supposed to hit the upper thirties (ah, I remember my upper thirties; those were the days). The poor geese don’t know what the hell to do. Every day, I see them either flying north, or back south again (bitching like hell at the the head guy, too, “fly south, he says. It’s gonna get cold he says. Wait, now we gotta go back north again. It’s too warm. Back and forth. All I know is, I’m flappin’ my fucking wings off, and we aint gettin’ anywhere”). Well, whichever direction you’re headed today, stay warm.

Well, Wednesdays suck again (or still). Not only do I have to tread out into the cold, dark night to go to class, but I have to contend with basketball traffic, and figuring out where the fuck a student can actually park to go to class. Personally, I think they ought to cancel classes on game nights. But, once again, nobody really gives a shit what I think. Sure is nice to see some snow on the ground again, though. Hopefully it’ll last a while.

No major ice storm here yesterday – mostly just a lotta goddamn rain. I guess we dodged the bullet, since a lot of other people from Buffalo to Albany apparently lost power. Seems to have cooled off a bit, and we’re even supposed to get a little snow. Not much, though. School officially starts up again today, and I’m already way behind. How the hell did that happen?
