Back in my crappy little bed, in my crappy little dorm room. It was a great weekend though, and great to be home. Coming back was a little tough, but my wife was with me (in my ear, via the cell phone – thank goodness for the free cell-cell calls) from PA until I parked the car. The trip, thankfully, was event-free, and I made it from door to door in 6 hours and 3 minutes. Not too shabby.

Not much else to say, except 54 days to go. Have a good Monday.

What with trying to catch up my gutter cleaning, I haven’t had much chance to look at who’s on the bobbleheads this week, but here’s a quick rundown:

Press the Meet has retired general Barry McCaffrey, Markos Moulitsas (aka Kos), Newsweek’s Jonathan Alter, Amy Walter of the Cook Report, and the National Review’s Byron the dork York.

Faze the Nation didn’t have their web page update, and it wasn’t worth it to me to try and find out who was on.

On This Weak with George Snufalufagus, it’s L. Paul Bremer, Republican asshole from NY, Tom Reynolds, Rahm Emanuel from Illinois, Token Zakaria, Donna Brazile, George :jerk: Will, and for god only knows what reason, they’re giving airtime to Grover fucking Norquist.

Fux News and their weasel faced host have general George Casey, plus asshole Newt Gingrich, DINO Jane Harman, and complete asshole Dan Senor.

CNN? Who gives a shit.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Bob Simon does a story on the Hobbit archaeologists found, Lesley Stahl looks at Plan B from Outer Space, Mike Wallace (I thought he was retiring) looks at the Tony awards, and And Rooney will whine about something or other.

No Sopranos tonight, but the third season premiere of Deadwood is on for those of you with HBO.

As for me, I’m sad to say I’ll be hitting the road by 3 PM or so, hoping to get to DC between 9:30 and 10:00 (depending on the traffic; hopefully not much later). I’m not looking forward to the drive, much less the arrival. But, it was great to be home for a couple of days. You did a pretty good job asking the traffic gods to help me out on Thursday, so I’d appreciate it if you could ask for smooth sailing tonight, too. Shit, I really don’t wanna go.

Damn. Who’s choppin’ onions?

Hey, happy Saturday. My only plans for today is to find a place to take the dog for a walk, and maybe do some laundry. Other than that, I’m just gonna enjoy the day. Hope you all do, too.

It’s Friday, and I’m home. It don’t get any better than that. Nothing makes you appreciate what you’ve got more than being away from it. OK, OK, OK. I’ve only been away less than two weeks, and I’m not exactly living at the El Rashid, waiting to get bombed (mostly I’m trying to get bombed so I can get some sleep), but what can I say? I guess I’m just a wimp. Now if I can manage to leave on Sunday without crying like a little baby, I’ll be all set.

Hey, Happy Hump Day. I have a playdate after work tonight, as I get to tag along at the Smithsonian Designer’s Group inaugural unofficial meeting at Fado’s Irish Pub. SInce nobody knows me, I can pretend that I actually know stuff, while hopefully not trying to prove how Irish I am by getting all sloppy drunk, droping my dice in puke, and cleaning them off by putting them in my mouth. I’ll have to wait ’til I get “home” to do that. Well, time to go check out last night’s election results, to see if Busby mananged a win, and if Marcy Winograd managed to beat Jane Harman in the primary. Then I’ll try and figure out why you’d want to remake a movie directed by Richard Donner and starring Gregory Peck, David Warner, and Lee Remick. 59 to go.

Oh Six Oh Six Oh Six

I should’ve held this post off until six.

If you’re out there in the CA-50th, don’t forget to vote for Francine Busby in the special election today. True to form, the Republicans and their minions in the media are making a big deal about a rather innocous statement from Busby, saying anybody was welcome to come and help out on her campaign. This was twisted into her saying that illegal aliens can vote. As long as there’s somebody to hate out there (whether it’s the bands of marauding mexicans, ruining the sanctity of our elections, or the parades of gays, ruining the sanctity of our marriages), the Republicans will stir up the basest of their base.

Hey, watch out for leaning ladders, black cats, and sidewalk cracks out there today folks. 60 to go.

Oh boy, another week begins. I went to see the Al Gore movie yesterday, and enjoyed it quite a bit. Oh, I suppose he didn’t address how horrible the beef industry is, and there are those who consider Gore an environmental hypocrite (he was, afterall, a career politician), and those people should all feel free to solve all the problems of the world. In the meantime, hopefully this movie will help to bring about some real changes. That, and the electric car movie when it comes out. 61 more to go.

Ah, here we go, another Sunday. Sorry, but all I have time for is a quick rundown this week.

Over at Press the Meat, Timmuh hosts an “exclusive” with Senator MBNA himself, Joe Biden, plus Hans “I told you so” Blix, rightwing shill from the Wall Street Journal, John Harwood, and Washington Week’s Gwenn Ifill.

Over at Faze the Nation, Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer hosts a discussion on the tragic “accidents” of Haditha with the lying lizard queen, Condi Rice, and Time’s Washington Bureau Chief, Mike Duffy.

On This Weak, George Snufalufagus has an exclusive interview with Al Gore, and at the roundtable, it’s little Robbie Reich, Time’s Jay Carney, ABC’s Claire Shipman, and George :jerk: Will. Plus, one of my favorite authors, John Updike.

Over at Fux News Sunday, Weaselface Wallace has a reprise of the lizard woman, plus Lindsey “I’m not gay” Graham, and Jack “me neither” Reed.

Over on CNN, Wolf “my mother was in the German resistance” Blitzer has yet another visit from the lizard lady, plus George “my daddy won the Super Bowl, and all I got was this stupid senate seat” Allen and Carl Levin.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Dan Rather profiles John Mackey of Whole Foods, Steve Kroft talks to Carl Hiassen about why South Florida’s crooks and eccentrics keep him in business, and Ed Bradley does a story on how the immigration putsch is driving more and more mexicans to their deaths in the desert.

And, for those of you not living in a goddamn dorm room, it’s the season finale of the Sopranos, which fuckin-A better be available via torrent by Monday.

Enjoy your Sunday everybody.

My first weekend in DC! As Archie would say, “whoopdie-doo, whoopdie-doo, whoopdie-doo.” Have a good one, folks.
