No Clippers game tonight, thank god, so hopefully tonight’s show will go off without a hitch (assuming KTLK’s stream doesn’t crap out on us). Kudos to Seditionist Citizenkahn for getting the full show to the AAR “Premium” people. I came up a few minutes short of a full show, myself (story of my life). Sucks, I missed Sammy’s reanimation.
Anyhow, from what I did hear last night, I think the show is really coming up to speed in record time. The first night was a good show, to be sure (better than anything else out there, IMHO), but last night was even better. Having Marc all jacked up on Starbucks® (what, no Dunkin’ Donuts® out there?) and Raisinets® really brought out the Morning Sedition in him. I’m not quite sure I’m used to the “Tonight Show” music yet (it’s been hell getting out of bed in the morning without the Red Hot Chili Peppers jumpstarting my heart at six past the hour), but I think Jim Earl might just make a fine Ed McMahon one day.
Tonight on Marc, comedian Andy Kindler and professional gossip, Mark Lisanti’s of Defamer.com. And if we’re lucky, maybe Marc will catch us up on how the Clippers are doing!
Well, the goddamn KTLK stream appears to be down at the moment. I certainly hope it decides to come back in the next few minutes. It sure would be nice if AAR could provide an alternative stream.

By the way – you’re not crazy. My typical schedule is work, home, sleep, wake up around midnight, listen to AAR all night, sleep, work, repeat.
It partially has to do with migraines though. I get severe headaches from CRT computer monitors that only go away when I sleep. Which basically means that I walk around work all day with a migraine and have to sleep ASAP when I get home. Kind of ruins your life, but you get to hear all the good AAR shows that way.
while i’m waiting for marc’s show, i’m going to list the many ways i’m irritated with aar:
1. aar doesn’t stream marc’s show as part of the aar lineup. when marc’s show is on and you click aar listen live button, you get a replay of al’s morning show. does aar do this with any other of its shows? NO. only marc’s. to get a stream of marc’s show, you have to go directly to ktlk or you have to wait for aar to link you through to ktlk.
2. aar hasn’t asked/pressured xm to carry marc’s show as part of the aar lineup. why??? we paid a lot of money to sign up with xm and for what if marc’s show isn’t there.
3. aar charges a lot of $$$ for listeners to podcast marc’s show but aar doesn’t take measures to make sure the podcast is complete or that it’s timely.
4. aar fired marc in december at precisely the moment that morning sedition was about to take off in the new york city market because howard stern was leaving his nyc for sirius.
5. aar didn’t let marc have a night-time show on the east coast; they insisted that he have a night-time show on the west coast, which means that marc’s show broadcasts at 1-3 am (or 2-4 am if there’s any kind of sport team whatsoever playing a game in the l.a. area before marc’s show) for east coast folks, which is awfully late and requires a high level of technical expertise for anyone who wants to listen to the show.

Okay, so here is today’s recipe. I’m gonna have to hit the pillow pretty soon but I can’t NOT share a recipe.
This one is really interesting. In a good way.
Crispy Saffron Noodle Gratin
Serves 6
1 large pinch saffron threads
2 teaspoons hot water
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1 garlic clove, sliced in half
1/3 cup freshly grated Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese
8 ounces dried egg noodles or linguine
salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
12 coriander seeds, crushed (optional)
Preheat oven to 475.
Place the saffron in a small bowl and crush to a powder with a teaspoon. Pour the hot water over it and set aside to steep for 10 minutes.
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over very low heat. Add the saffron and its liquid; when butter starts to bubble, remove from heat. Let sit for 10 minutes.
Rub an ovenproof 10 inch nonstick skillet or a 1 1/2 quart gratin dish (or, if you’re me, a tart dish) with the garlic. Discarg the garlic. Let dish dry for 2 minutes. Using a slightly dampened brush, brush the pan with a little of the saffron butter. If you are using a nonstick skillet, sprinkle 2 tablespoons of the cheese evenly over the bottom.
Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat. Salt well, stir in the pasta, and cook until al dente. Drain and cool under cold running water. Drain well.
Return the pasta to the pot and toss it with the saffron butter; season with salt and pepper and crushed coriander if using. Transfer the pasta to the prepared pan and arrange it in an even layer (do not disturb the cheese if using it on the bottom of the pan.) Press the noddles down lightly and sprinkle remaining cheese over the top.
Bake until the top is brown and crusty, 30 to 35 minutes. Let sit for a few minutes. If you used a nonstick skillet, place a plate over the pan and invet the cake onto it. Then invert the cake onto a platter. Cut the cake into wedges and serve at once.
Tomorrow I’m going to try to find a good Finnish recipe since Marc seems to think he can ride Conan’s coat tails to fame in Finland. (Sadly, Marc doesn’t share Conan’s odd resemblance to the Finnish president. Said president being female, I think he might be glad of this.)
