Gotta get the car inspected.  Either that, or not go anywhere.  I think maybe I’ll just not go anywhere.  See ya.

Gee, poor North Korea seems to have everybody mad at it.  Even China.  And they maybe didn’t even have the big boom-boom they were hoping for.  At least, according to the US government.  The Russian government begs to differ.  Hmmm.  Tough call as to which one to believe there.   Either way, who really cares?  It’s all Clinton’s fault.

Another Tuesday, and just four Tuesdays away from the big midterm election. I really hope every single stinking one of these close races don’t mysteriously go over to the bad guys this time around. It’s not too soon to start getting ready to hit the streets if they steal this one, too. Either that, or stay curled up in a fetal position over in the corner someplace. Actually, that doesn’t sound like a bad idea. I think I’ll go and give it a try.

Oh, if you haven’t been over to look at Marc’s myspace page, he’s got a new message up there:

I want to thank everyone for coming out to the taping of the Comedy Central Presents in NYC, attending the CanWest Comedy Fest in Vancouver, coming to see me at the San Francisco Punchline and Giggles up in Seattle. I’m re-grouping. I’ll keep you all in the loop if I don’t hang myself with it by accident. I’m busting my ass trying to learn how to do some video stuff on the Mac. I’ll get clips up here and on youtube very soon. There are a lot of clips to go through. I recenty digitized all 37 of my Conan appearances. They will be available soon. You can watch the evolution of style, age, bad haircuts and questionable outfit choices spanning more than a decade.

Apparently those of us who went to see him at the Gotham Comedy Club don’t count. 🙁 Oh well, that’s what we get for ordering food, I guess.

Ha. Well, I don’t actually watch anything on the Goebbels network anymore, but I see that poor Tom Reynolds missed his appearance on This Weak yesterday, apparently exhibiting “flu-like” symptoms. Uh-huh. Well, looks like he may be getting a nice long vacation to recuperate. Meanwhile, Joe Lieberman is going to give a “major” speech today on “protecting children.” I can only assume it has something to do with covering your ass (so to speak) and doing a lot of lying and whining. God, I sure hope Lamont can make a move in the next 29 or so days. Well, better get back to doing whatever the hell it is I’m supposed to be doing.

Oh, and Happy Genocidal Murderer’s Day!  Or, better yet, Happy Thanksgiving to our friends in Canada.  You don’t have to set a place for me, but let me know if I can come up there and crash on your couch – just in case things go badly next month.

Are you ready to ruumbull?! Today, on Press the Meat, it’s the Missouri Meltdown, pitting weaselly, anti-stem cell crusading, Senator Jim “get your habeas outta my corpus” Talent, vs. his challenger, Missouri State Auditor Claire McCaskill (Claire is currently up by three points in the latest Gallup poll). And, because that’s not enough, Bob Woodward will be in to give Timmy Potatohead sloppy seconds (or thirds or fourths, or whatever it is) over Bobby’s book, State of Denial.

Over at CBS, Bush buddy Bobby Schieffer has Senator MBNA, Joe Biden. Joe will be in to tell us that he, too, wanted Donny Rumsfeld fired. Newsflash to Joe: not only does Bush not give a shit what you think, nobody else does, either. Go back to kissing Alberto “Grand Inquisitor” Gonzales’ ass, Joe.

Over at CNN’s Late Emission, it’s Iraqi Foreign Minister, Hoshyar Zerbari, Senator MBNA (again), John “Cornhole” Cornyn, a pair of hacks who, while they have never run for (let alone won) any office, have nonetheless co-authored The Way to Win, John Harris (WaPost) and Mark Halperin (Goebbels Broadcasting Company), Republican propagandist (and CNN’s “congressional correspondent”), Dana Bash, and everybody’s favorite Nazi sympathizer, Bay Buchanan without the dress (aka, Pat).

But wait, there’s more!

Over at Fux News Sunday, where Chris Wallace is still trying to clean up after Bill Clinton made him soil himself, it’s a Mark Foley kinda day, and what an astounding panel they’ve put together! In addition to the fuckfaced on himself, it’s liar and hack extrordinaire, Brit Hume, the Revernd Sun Yung Moon’s righthand man, Bill “not the funny one” Kristol, token NPR black guy, Juan Williams (Juan, you should be ashamed of yourself for even being near these creeps), and token NPR female, Mara Liasson (who is, of course, shameless – and an example of why NPR sucks these days). And then, speaking oof erections, a story about Air Force vets building a DC memorial.

And then for all of you Foley Fanaticsn who just can’t get enough, over at the GBC, it’s yet another This Weak with George Snufalufagus that makes it easy to continue the boycott, with Tom “still aint got my story straight, but it’s all Denny’s fault” Reynolds, DCCC chairman Rahm “man” Emanuel, and James “the Fixer” Baker. Plus, Patricia “botox” Heaton will be on to talk about autism.

Later, on 60 Minutes, Lesley Stahl talks to HP’s Patricia “I’m innocent” Dunn, and Steve Kroft has a look at the 44,000 names on the no-fly list (hey, nice to know Osama’s on there – dubya may not spend much time thinking about him but it’s nice to know if he shows up at an airport and is stupid enough to use his real name, he is so gonna have to take the bus).

Of course, today’s big story is TO’s return to Philly, where the Eagles will hopefully kick his (and the Cowboy’s) ass so hard all day, he’ll be on suicide watch by the flight back to “D.”

Have a good Sunday.

So, what’s up today?  First, if you’re out there in the Bay area, make a point to go and see Marc at the Edinburgh Castle, 950 Geary St in San Francisco.  If you’re out here on my side of the country, you can join the SU Homecoming weekend festivities, which, other than the SU-Pittsburgh football game, I don’t really know what’s going on.  But, Syracuse is going for four straight wins against the 4-1 Panthers.  Pitt isn’t exactly a powerhouse, which is a good thing, because, in spite of three straight wins (improving over last year by 300%), SU isn’t exactly the cream of the crop either. If you’re somewhere in between Syracuse and San Francisco (and, really, who isn’t?), I hope you have an enjyable day, no matter what you do.

Oh, and, you know what?  If it takes a goddamn pervert scandal to make the rest of the world see what a bunch of conniving, incompetent weasels the Republicans are, then fine.  Katrina was the first crack in their armor, and if this is what it takes to show the true believers how morally bankrupt this bunch is (yeah, yeah, you’da thunk it was already quite apparent before this), well then so be it.  I just hope no kids lives were completely destroyed in all of this.  God help Denny and the gang if this turns out to be even worse than it already is.

See ya.

Oh boy it’s Friday. Here in the provinces, it’s Apple Festival weekend.  No doubt that sounds dumb to you more sophisticated types, but it’s supposed to be a beautiful, weekend here, with crisp air, blue skies, and the leaves starting to turn.  Unfortunately, our asshole of a Governor vetoed a bill that would allow the apple orchards here to distill and sell apple vodka.  Not that I’m much for vodka, but hopefully Governor Spitzer will straighten things out when he gets in.  Enjoy your day.

On today’s date in 1989, the Dalai Lama was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in recognition for his nonviolent campaign to end the Chinese domination in Tibet. He accepted the prize on December 10th of that year, saying, in part:

I accept the prize with profound gratitude on behalf of the oppressed everywhere and for all those who struggle for freedom and work for world peace. I accept it as a tribute to the man who founded the modern tradition of nonviolent action for change – Mahatma Gandhi – whose life taught and inspired me. And, of course, I accept it on behalf of the six million Tibetan people, my brave countrymen and women inside Tibet, who have suffered and continue to suffer so much.

No matter what part of the world we come from, we are all basically the same human beings. We all seek happiness and try to avoid suffering. We have the same basic human needs and concerns. All of us human beings want freedom and the right to determine our own destiny as individuals and as peoples. That is human nature.

You don’t often hear kids saying, “some day, I want to grow up to win the Nobel Peace Prize,” and that’s too bad. It’s pretty easy to get angry these days – there are lots of things to be angry about. But maybe we ought to try to be better than that.

It might seem that the only way to combat the hatred and violence of those who run this world is with even stronger hatred and violence, but what do you wind up with if you “win,” except a smoking ruin of a world filled with death and rage? I dunno. Just sayin’.

Another Wednesday, another day I have to leave the house to go to class.  I’ve been very unsettled this semester, never feeling like I actually know what’s going on.  Of course, that’s nothing comapred to these freakin’ Republicans.  Boehner told Hastert that had a pervert, then he didn’t tell Hastert, and now he’s back to he’s pretty sure he maybe kinda did tell Hastert, who isn’t sure what the fuck’s going on, except these goddamn high school kids are out to bring down the Republican party (these are, of course, Republican high school kids – or at least they were, before these old perverts started pestering them).  Tom Reynolds holds a press conference using a bunch of little kids as human shields (I wonder if he ever saw the Dead Zone movie, where Christopher Walken decides to shoot crazy Martin Sheen, to prevent Sheen from becoming president and presiding over Armageddon; Sheen holds up a baby as a shield, thereby destroying his chances to ever get elected president, and the world is saved).  Condi finds it inconceivable that she could forget being briefed by George Tenet and Cofer Black, and then well, maybe she can remember afterall.  The NIE tells us that Iraq is making the world less safe, Bob Woodward tells us how dubya’s been lying to us all along (duh) and that Rumsfeld is an idiot (double duh), and then dubya has the nerve to tell us the Democrats can’t be trusted to run Congress.  Yeah, we’d sure hate to see them fuck up this great system you Republicans have put in place.

I just hope these idiots keep throwing under the bus, and that we can get them out of at least one branch of government before things get much worse.
