Monday Night Show

Delayed show thanks to the Clippers tonight, and with the new deal, we’ll miss at least the first hour or so. I guess you “premium” subscribers will be able to get the full two hour podcast at whatever time it is they manage to get the show up tomorrow. The rest of us will just have to make do with what we get, I guess.

If you want to call the show, well, I reckon you’re SOL.

Monday again, and I guess we’ll see if we somehow manage to get a full Maron show from tonight. It’s be nice if AAR would stream it (they don’t stream Hartmann’s syndicated weekday shows, I know, but he had an existing arrangement with the White Rose Society – hey, Marc, let’s get your show over there – I’d be much happier paying Ben Burch than AAR). I really hope all the Goldberg-inspired animosity I’ve developed for AAR goes away. Getting Marc’s show on every night for the full two hours in a manner that I can hear it would go a long way towards doing it. I really don’t wanna pay to wait and see how long it’ll be before the show gets posted, and the occasional Franken cam just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe a Malloy cam – it would be downright entertaining to see his face when he gets all worked up. How the hell he can not be on the air in NYC is beyond me. Oh well, enough AAR bashing. Now let’s bash the Washignton Post. What the f*ck is wrong with them? I mean, to have a front page story that directly contradicts one of the lamest Bush apologist (unsigned, too, the gutless bastids) editorials I’ve ever read is astounding (hell, even faux moderate Arlen Specter is making a little noise about this shit – at least until he’s told to shut and go back to doing what he’s told). Did the Moonies buy the Post, too?

God help us all if these people drag us into Iran.

Time for another round of the talking heads. On Press the Meat, Timmy Potatohead has an “exclusive” with John Kerry (fresh off doing some Republican ass kicking – better late than never, I guess, and I hope he keeps it up), and then it’s more immigration posturing with House members Henry “Magilla” Bonilla of TX, Luis Gutierrez of IL, and token white guy J. D. Hayworth of AZ.

Over at Fazed the Nation, they’re apparently back to their stealth strategy, since they don’t seem to want us to know who’s on. Oh well, who cares, as long as Katie Couric isn’t there yet.

This Weak, George Snufalufagus pulls a Boehner, before accidentally having somebody interesting on – former Ambassador Joe Wilson. I wonder what he’ll have to say about dubya OK’ing the NIE leak. Then it’s the roundtable, with Fareed”Token” Zakaria, the WaPost’s E.J. Dionne, Cokie “Bitch” Roberts, and George :jerk: Will.

Over at Fux News Sunday, it’s Republican Vs. Republican, as Chris “Fuxface” Wallace has Arlen Specter and Pete King on to talk about that impressive compromise on immigration – not – and then dubya’s #1 Muslim, Zalmay Khalilzad will be on to tell us how great everything’s going in Iraq.

On CNN, well, they won a Peabody for their Katrina coverage, doncha know. Good for them. I’d say they ought to show it to Bill O’Reilly, but he might think they want him to be their pee buddy or something. The only thing Bill likes better than a good Polk is a pee buddy.

Later, on 60 minutes, Scott Pelley talks to Chief Warrant Officer Lewis Welshofer, who says putting a sleeping bag over the head of an Iraqi general (oops, he died) was an interrogation technique approved of by his superiors. But, like, they don’t tend to say much after you’ve suffocated them, do they? Then Bob Simon tells us about an elephant orphanage in Kenya (for baby elephants whose mothers have been killed by poachers), and Steve Kroft does a story on 16-yr old Michelle Wie (hey Steve, keep her away from Homeland Security, OK?). Of course, Andy Rooney will be on hand to extoll the virtues of Benefiber and bitch about something or other.

On the West Wing, goddamn it, Leo died on election day. Should be an intersting show, and a good warm up for the Sopranos. Johnny Sack and his boy Phil seem to think Tony’s gone soft. Something tells me they shouldn’t oughta think that.

Enjoy your Sunday.

So much to do, so little time. I don’t suppose anybody made it to Marc’s show in New Orleans last night, did they? If so, don’t forget to give us a review. I wonder if there’s any chance we’ll be able to stream the full Maron next week? I certainly hope so. And I hope the show doesn’t lose anything by being pre-recorded, but since it’s pretty much always pre-recorded before I get to hear it, it won’t matter much to me. Except y’all won’t be able to call and blog during the show, I guess, which kinda sucks. But, hey, we’re open 24/7, and there’s free refills on the :joe:

Well, here we are at the end of yet another week. And what a week it’s been. Tom DeLay is down and out. Danny Goldberg is up and out (or over, or something). The Dpartment of Homeland Security is full of pedophiles. The US Attorney General (who has taken an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States”) testified yesterday that not only can the president spy on Americans who might be talking to foreign nationals, but that he “wouldn’t rule out” wiretapping of totally domestic calls without a warrant, either (again, I think the fourth amendment is possibly the most simply written and easy to understand piece of the constitution, but then again I think “thou shalt not kill” should be pretty fucking clear to all those hate-filled, war mongering bible thumpers out there, too). We now know that dubya authorized the leak of the National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq (or we know, at least, that Libby said that Cheney said that Georgie said it’d be OK). Even Fox News has Bush’s approval ratings down in the 30’s (he’s even losing ground with Republicans, which is really all he’s got left, since independents left this boat a loooong time ago), so – surprise, surprise – now they’re putting the word out that a military confrontation with Iran is “unavoidable.” That, and there’s no Marc tonight. I hope Bill Maher doesn’t have any wingnuts on later, or you might find me out teevee shopping in the morning. Happy Friday y’all – and a special howdy to Farmerkat, now that we know she’s up and reading the blog.

Hey, we should get our second (and last) full show of the week tonight, since there’s no Clippers game (and the LA Avengers don’t play until Sunday). And no Marc at all tomorrow, since he’ll be in the Big Easy doing a benefit. Tonight, though, it’s a big show, with Rovespert Wayne Slater, Thurston Moore of Sonic Youth, movie critic Svetlana, and a call from Planet Bush correspondent Lawton Smalls.

If you want to call in, it’s:
1 (877) 520-1150 or
1 (800) 783-7412

Ah, finally, a real day off. Just me and the other animals home today. Maybe I can try fixing my earbuds today. A damn wire must’ve broken or come loose, and I’ve lost my left side (unless I wiggle and push, which sounds like a lot more fun than it really is). I was able to slide the boot back from the plug, but under there it’s plastic and pretty well sealed up. Anybody know any tricks for getting the plastic stuff off? Otherwise, I’m gonna have to cut the damn thing off, and splice on a another one, which will look awfully ugly. The damn things were expensive, or I wouldn’t bother (and they’re just so much more comfortable – and better sounding – than anything else I have). Oh well, whattya gonna do?

Yet another short show tonight, though it shouldn’t be quite as short as last night. Game time is 7:00, so I’d plan on about a half-hour delay, give or take. It’s goo dto know they’ll be doing a full two-hour show starting next week, though I hope we hear a few more details tonight – or at least by the end of the week. It would be nice if AAR would stream the show from their site so we can all listen to it. I have a feeling that the Marc Maron Show is detined to become the most popular show AAR’s got, and it’ll be interesting to see if Marc and Jim can parlay that into something nationwide (on real stations). I’d love to see it syndicated in NYC, and kick the shit out of the Satellite Sisters.

Anhow, if you wanna call the show, it’s:
1 (877) 520-1150 or
1 (800) 783-7412

Hey, if they tape the show, we can all start calling in during Stephanie Miller, and ask what time Marc gets in.

Up and out fairly early this morning, so you’ll all have to let me know if anything important is going on in the world (like who Campbell Brown got married to, or if Katie Couric is getting a live colonoscopy, or if they kicked somebody off American Idol or something). Otherwise, I’ll catch y’all later.
